Few questions before i buy

So, like many others here, I'm on the verge of buying darkfall. I just have a few questions if any vets could spare some time.

1. I understand that its mainly a pvp game, but, are there any dungeons to adventure in and find rare loot? Or is pve at this point just there to raise skills for pvp.

2. Do mounts despawn into your back pack like in wow, or do they stay in the game world ala fallen earth?

3.From reading over these forums it seems bots/macros/hacks have been dealt with and are no longer a real problem ingame, is this (in your expierience) true?

4. I plan to play on NA1, has this server (as of friday, dec4, 4:20pm pst) been taken down for the new expanision? I really would like to wait till after the patch is deployed before buying and waiting (i think 24hrs?) for the patch to play.

The game is completely centered around pvp, which is great if you're into it.  I personally love that aspect of the game, you can trust no one beyond your allies and clan-mates.. which even they are questionable sometimes.  There are dungeons, but they are not instanced in the normal sense.  Everyone goes into the same dungeon if they choose to go in, so either players will work together at taking down the mobs or the most common thing is raiders going through dungeons looking for people to pillage (kill).  Dungeons don't really contain anything special beyond a stronger concentration of varied mobs.  Dungeons range from easy - hard but difficulty often just means you need to bring more people (dungeons are not marked as to how hard they are).  As you said, pve at this point and always it seems will be there simply to level up skills needed for pvp, while it's not a terrible thing it certainly could use some work in regards to the rewards for actually going out to pve.

Mounts Don't auto despawn, to put a mount away you get off and have to look at it, then press a few keys and watch the bar fill, when the bar is filled the mount will then despawn and be placed in your bag until you either bank it or summon it out to ride again.  If you die and the mount is on you the mount will drop with the rest of your gear for anyone to loot (it turns into a small statue of itself when despawned).  If you get disconnected from the game the mount simply stays in the game world for anyone to take, if you log in fast enough you may still get it back but often if you are in a populated area kiss that baby goodbye.

All those are still major issues and one of the reasons I refuse to play the game, yes the recent changes to the game have made it less of a problem but people still do "bloodwall" because they can simply leave themselves online all day auto-casting or anything really with macro programs.  Nearly all players in the game leveled up this way, and even I myself am guilty of it at times... but it led to a boring experience of finding nothing but people macroing.  Hacking is less of a problem to a degree, but this is only because the hackers have grown smarter and now only hack in losing situations... so is the hacking gone? no.  You'll only see it in times if people being desperate.

I wouldn't know, but yes I wouldn't start until after the patch and the races get whatever racial abilities they were suppose to.  That way you can choose the best for you.

1) Yes there's dungeons. PvE for stuff other than skill gain include for gold, enchanting mats(lots of rare enchanting mats that have to be PvE'd for) and other resources, rare keys that open chest for gold and possible rare items. Most gear is crafted though, since it's better than dropped loot, at least I don't really use dropped gear.

2)They don't despawn into your inventory like WoW, but they can stay in the world unattended. When you despawn a mount it goes into your backpack as a figurine that can be looted. If you get off your mount and don't despawn it, it'll stay where you left it and other people can get on it. Mounts can also be killed.

3)Truth. Never really were a problem to be honest. Playing since beta and I've seen only a couple hackers and they were never able to cause me any trouble. Haven't seen one in a long time, heard friends talk about a couple, but they get mass reported quickly and surely banned. Macros aren't used as much any more.

4)NA -1 is not down yet. The NA server isn't supposed to be down for 24 hours though, just the EU server, which is down as of now.

Dungeons are located all across Agon.  The harder dungeons usually have chests of which you need special keys to open them.  A rare key coupled with a the matching chest type could make you a pretty coin.

A lot of the old problems have been fixed.  This expansion promises to put this game over the top.

Are you prepared to "feel" something again in an MMO?

PvE lacks a little, but its there. There are quest, there are dungeons and there are "rare" boss like mobs (not named) that are hard to kill.

2. Do mounts despawn into your back pack like in wow, or do they stay in the game world ala fallen earth?

You currently have despawnable mounts that go into your pack becuase they take up server space

People still macro, but they don't have the advantage they used to. Its really better to just play the game.
