I can't believe you would waste your time constructing such a thread. They like the game. You don't. You don't have to.

Reality is picking a game you find fun and playing it -- correct. Reality is also being able to tell people why you enjoy the game, which no one has been able to do. Read all those posts, all the positive posts and it comes down to one thing -- I enjoy the community. Well, community is not a game, it never has been. I would assume this is pretty easy to understand. But, the reality I am speaking of, is that they need to realize they are blindly defending the game as not being a WoW clone, when even the Devs have claimed they were inspired by WoW to make "the first viable WoW alternative." That is the reality I am speaking of, not that the game is shit -- because everyone already knows that.

Sorry bro, when you look at the Warhammer universe, and you look at how blizzard did what they did back then... its even worse than what you are accusing Alganon of doing.
Warhammer is/was supposed to be a pvp game while wow is pve with added pvp so they focused on different styles.
For the lower tiers it was succesful but going higher made it lose subs, it didn't lose subs because it is a "wow clone" because it isn't it is losing subs because it launched in a bad state and should have been kept longer in beta to make it better.
I took my WOW disks(all 4 boxed sets) put them on my bar-B-Gue grill and lit them up with some really bad sauce and fed them to my dogs. Couldn't believe I have wasted so much time of my life on such a stupid game. Curently playing Fallen Earth, Vanguard and yes even AION. How many more games are out there that are far superior to WOW that I have not played? How in the hell has WOW bamboozled so many people into thinking that WOW is the best game out? 11 million or so subscribers does not the best game make. I know this now and I am dumbfounded. Why don't other games know how to advertise thier games like Blizzard does. Vanguard is vastly superior to WOW and people don't even know it. It blows my mind!

I think he is talking about the original Warcraft games, in which it was Orcs vs. Humans. The claim is that Blizzard stole the idea, the reality is Blizzard crafted the game for Games Workshop, who actually passed on it. Blizzard decided to turn around add their own lore into the game, and craft an RTS. They did not steal anything, Games Workshop thought the game simply wasn't good enough or focused enough to be considered true to the source material. Which is fine and dandy, but isn't Blizzard's fault. Nor does it mean they weren't allowed to release a game that they created.
As far as Orcs vs. Human conflict, look at Tolkein's works for that. He also incorporated trolls, elves, dwarves, and all sorts of mythical creatures in a clash of man vs. monster. The theme isn't original to Warhammer alone, they just took a standard war board game, added some extra rules and made it their way... sounds familiar doesn't it?

This isn't about choice -- this is about the reality of the game. There is nothing wrong with having a million choices, but it is wrong to blindly go around saying "it's not a clone, it's not a clone, it's not a clone" even when the Devs can't tell you what makes it not a clone... or lie to cover it up.
It's almost sickening counting how many times you use "reality" in your posts. Did Alganon beat your wife or take your job?
I'll admit that when I played it at launch of the first CB, I didn't like it. I stopped playing it after 3 days. There were too many bugs to be able to do anything and the game world was empty. But I didn't go around wielding a torch screaming "This game sucks! It's a WoW clone! It's generic!" I left the community and didn't go back.
If you don't like a game, don't play it. If you don't like a game, don't preach to other people why it's an awful game, give them an opinion. But I know people do this because most people lack common sense. I don't give a shit why you don't like a game, I'll try it for myself. Unless your opinion has some substantial weight and actually makes sense? I'll consider not bothering.
Reality, you say? The reality is that yes it is an alternative to WoW. Yes, in most people's eyes it is a sub-par game. But the reality is you don't get to dictate what people think and do. What you say isn't going to have any impact on the outcome of the game.
So please, do us all a favor and take a seat and shut the hell up.

A swing and a miss -- this isn't about enjoying the game, but holy crap... first off welcome to the forums. You know what forums are for right? They are for ranting and bitching and praising. Perhaps, you missed the point of that. Second, I am not telling people to stop playing the game, I am telling them, that if they are going to play the game, then they need to admit the simple honest facts. Is that so hard to understand?
This has nothing to do with common sense, you say you don't like Alganon, but that didn't prevent you from sticking your nose in here did it? Reality is, it is an alternative to WoW, but not the first viable alternative. What was meant by that was -- we remade WoW, the way we thought it should be. Any MMO can be considered an alternative to WoW.
By the way, I do like your "shut the hell up" comment. What exactly are you going to do when it doesn't happen, cry into your pillow tonight because you thought you made a really deep and meaningful post and ended it on such a succinct note that I would never dare reply? Get over yourself and please, do us all a real favor, never post again. It wasn't worth reading.

I have to point out that Warhammer basically took Tolkins universe and changed it about as much as WoW (As of Warcraft III/WoW) has changed Warhammers.

I think many of us are forgetting is that the best part of playing Alganon and not WoW is that people playing WoW are not playing Alganon. Such a major feature can't be ignored.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy.

No offence Ranzin. but you are making a total mass of the alganon forums. the only thing you do here is starting bash threads or bash people who like it. i played it in beta. i think it was just ok. but i do not even try to waste my energy on telling people what i like about it. cause i will be called an ignorant fanboy cause i dont fully agree with you. maybe you are the one who need a shot of reality. people who sub this. chose to play an follow it, and have their own reasons for that,
i myself am not a fanboy at all. i agree with most of the copying points. and questionable performance. but on the other hand i do not feel that the game is doomed. it can be possible if it has a small dedicated player base. if all the features that where promised make it into the game someday. it might be interesting.

It really shouldn't matter what he said in the forum if you do choose to play the game. He is totally entitle to his opinion and so are others. It is a forum, take what you wish and ignore what you don't. So, if you don't feel like playing the game after reading stuff from here, it will be YOUR decision. You can't say that's what he made you do. After all, you should still capable of making your choice. Unless he has some voodoo power ....hey look ! there is a 3 headed monkey behind you!
If you don't feel like playing the game because of something you read, you need to reexamine your beliefs. I have never asked anyone for anything more than a real reason why they like the game, and I never get an answer to it.
They reason you don't want to play the game is because people say it's bad, you go in game and you play it and realize, maybe they were right. The game is bland, the graphics are ugly, and the lack of content is just icing on the shit cake. But hey, if you want to blame me for you not liking the game, more power to you. No one makes you come to this site, and there are plenty of fanbois on the Alganon site that will tell you the exact opposite of what I am saying.

Are you saying that the 12 million subscribers playing World of Warcraft are to be avoided at all costs? A majority of them? Only some of them? Isn't it true that all games have a few rotten apples playing? Hell you'd think that Alganon players want a single-player game the way they go on about their exclusive community membership.
Its not just the fans, but the devs as well. I posted a thread on the forums stating that I thought that the game wouldn't last long, and not only was I verbally attacked, the devs closed the thread and banned me from the forums on the grounds that I was "trolling". How is stating your opinion on how a game sucks is trolling! I barely even mentioned gameplay, just that the game wouldn't last long due to the abominable reputation it has gathered as a WoW ripoff (not a clone, but a ripoff, as in plagarism) and that fact that there are plenty of games out there that are much better, including F2P ones (such as Shaiya, Allods, Runes of Magic, and others). How is that trolling?
Its not just the fans, but the devs too. They are almost as bad as religious nuts; they all have a "holier than thou" attitude, and my unreasonable banning should be proof enough.

3/10 Attempt at a troll. If you have no interest in the game, why don't you spend your time playing one that you do enjoy? Is it a totally alien concept structure for you, that other people just might enjoy Alganon in spite of its current limitations? I've been in WoW since late beta. Its a good game at this point and rather well polished. But I'm currently playing(and enjoying) Alganon. Different things for different people...<shrug>
