THE GAME LOOKS FREAKIN AMAZING! I was watching the previews before it came out and have been reading reviews since its release. It looks absolutely beautiful. The storyline is awesome, the gameplay is smooth, the world is huge. That's just some of the things I've been reading about it. Does anybody have it? If you do tell me,am I justified for being so hyped up about getting it or am I getting up for a let down? I don't know what anybody else thinks about it but, this is probabley the most anticipated game for me since WoW. Let me know what you think about it.

I have it and I play it. It is THE best single-player RPG I've played since Oblivion. If I had to choose between my MMOs and DA:O, DA:O would win, hands down.
Playing: DDO, LOTRO, UO
Favorites: UO, DAoC, Asheron's Call

So,i'll take that as getting up for a let down Hatter? ='[
THATS WHAT I HEAR! But,seeing as what everyone else thinks of it it seems like its a ball of lies a broken promises. ='[
I wouldn't say that, King. All Hatter did was give you a list of MMORPG.com links to forum posts about DA:O. MMO players are the last people I would take advice from about single-player RPGs. Google is your friend - use it.

It is a great game. I agree it's one of (if not THE) best single player RPGs out atm. Hell, it's a lot more fun than MMOs atm (for me at least).
I was a little skeptical at first, because bioware tends to use a very old-school method of controls. Invisible walls, no ability to jump, pause-based combat. I wish they would evolve from this, but that aside I have to say, they have taken an old mechanic further than they have before w/ Dragon Age. The graphics are good, the story is pretty interesting & evolved, and the pause-based combat does allow for some very interesting strategies indeed.
For instance you can sleep certain enemies and then cast horror on them for almost an instant kill every time. You can also freeze + shatter enemies, or put a ward on your tank and layer him with AoE, just be careful as many spells can also hit your allies in this game (the AoE spells). Melee is a bit different but I've also found it very fun. There have been times where I wish I could just focus on my main guy, but all in all this game is a blast. Definitely worth the money imho.
Yes,i would have to say BioWare deffinentley broke its own boundaries with DAO. I'm happy to hear that it's a good game at least in some peoples eyes. I thought I was the only one! Also,I think its cool how DAO has its own toolset you can download once you have the game. I'm not only a gamer freak,I'm an aspiring game designer and I think the DAO toolset would be a good place to start out because, not only is it a very broad and in-depth toolset, its very basic at the same time too which is a good thing. I can't wait to get this game. Reviews say its SOO much better on the PC then the PS3 even though, the PS3 version is good too. I'm thinking about getting both just to see the difference...

It's not, but I know a lot of people hyped-up themselves over this game and assumed it was something it wasn't. To be honest I didn't follow this game's development all too closely, but I can't remember any promises that were broken with this game. Everything advertised on the box seems true in my opinion. It's not a multiplayer game, and it doesn't have storage other than your inventory. If that doesn't bother you, and you know how bioware makes it's RPGs (and that doesn't bother you), this game will be a blast.
Totally glad to hear it man. Thanks.
DA O is a good game really though it is kinda short and wish they would let you do more in it. I would have to say it kept me playing until i beat it which for a game to do i rare for me since it is the only single player game i beat in hmmm to long to remember.
Just go and play it. I've found that listening to other peoples opinions never served me in a positive manner especially since my tastes differ greatly from that of the majority.
About 10 years ago I figured this out and since then I've been making the call on everything myself. Screw all the sheep.... and I don't mean that in a sick way either...
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Well Deien,if its been too long to remember since the last time you beata single player game their has to be some type of spark about it. I'm still pumped as hell to give this game a try because,I tend to have a very unique opinion on everything people label as "good" or "bad" I give all game credit weather their "good" or "bad" just for being what they are,a source of entertainment.
I wouldn't say that, King. All Hatter did was give you a list of MMORPG.com links to forum posts about DA:O. MMO players are the last people I would take advice from about single-player RPGs. Google is your friend - use it.
Yeah, I haven't played it and I haven't read the threads. I just remember seeing them. I'm sure there is opinions from both sides in the "Am I the only one who hates Dragon Age"? I don't like single player games, I get lonely, lol. Last one I beat was Fallout 3, last one I played was Batman: Arkam Asylum and I only got about 2/3rd the way through before I got tired of it.
Personally, I've heard nothing but good things. I know one guy who beat it 3 times in the first 2 weeks it was out, lol.

4 times in one week, vacation days are awesome
I usually don't use them, it was just one of those weeks where you don't feel like going to work and the call of that new game molest your mind while at work. Basically I geeked out for a week.

I think DA:O will have longevity though. The devs built a solid modding model up front so the community will take the game far. That's what happened with Oblivion, which I still play occasionally. My install is so heavily modded it almost looks like a completely different game (with the same solid Oblivion gameplay)

Lol I know what you mean. And beating it 3 times in 2 weeks sounds like some type of crazy fanatic thing I'd do! I loved Fallout 3. And how was Arkham Asylum? I hear that it was supposed to be good I just never got around to playing it though.
Actually, I was kind of let down on how simplistic and shallow the gameplay in Batman was. Half the time you are trying to be stealthy and it's kinda like playing a crappy version of Splinter Cell. The bosses are very repetative. 2/3rd the way through and I only fought 2 types of boss..... like 10 different times. And one of the bosses is just fighting Scarecrow's maze levels.
But, it's got a really good comic book based storyline and I'm a huge fan of Batman. I think that's where all the hype comes in. I was playing at night, alone in my house when I first met the Scarecrow..... I had to turn on the lights.

Speaking of Dragon Age Origins it just won, RPG game of the year and PC game of the year.=]

I'm not surprised.

neither am i. Not in the least.
Yeah, DA:O is awesome.
I didn't touch any MMO for ages. All my game time was devoted to it for about 3 weeks after it came out. I'm not sure if my guildmates thought I was dead, or if they were all playing it too.
For me, it plays a bit like a combination between KOTOR and WoW.
Some advice if/when you buy it .. don't play Mage on the first play through. They are much more powerful and versatile than the Warrior/Rogue archetypes and it sort of feels a bit "meh" to go from a fireball flinging god of AOE to a dude with a sword. Personal opinion only.
Shapeshifter sucks too, though it does look awesome in this trailer.
Take "Coercion" on your main character; it's like "Persuade" in KOTOR, is easy to get and will open a lot of doors for you (and some content) as you progress through the game.
Oh, and don't expect to faceroll it. Even on "Normal" it's not an easy game at times.
One more: make sure you check the box for any free DLC content and register the codes to download the extra bits like Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner, Blood Dragon Armour and stuff.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift

But Solo is Stupid
Yea I probably wouldnt play through as a mage anyways. Even in WoW 85-90% of all my characters were warriors,I just like that class best. And I always try to get downloadable content but,to get every piece of it wouldn't that be like an extra $50? Oh well, you get what you pay for and you gotta pay for quality.
