Allods Online is a PoS as well tho, steer clear at all costs. It's like WoW with really bad art direction.
Allods is not a PoS. It is an amazing game that is in all likelyhood going to dominate the F2P MMO market just like WoW dominated the P2P MMO market. Allods is no WoW killer, and has its share of issues and stuff, but it is as close as a WoW killer will ever get (especially with a F2P game). Alganon is a PoS and should be steered clear of at all costs, not Allods.
Gotta agree here. Allods has really impressed me. Wasn't expecting much but turned out to be fairly good. For a free to play Allods is very nice. It's innovative, it looks better than most free to plays and the graphics are actually better than WoW's, and it's fun.
You can call Allods a WoW clone up to a point, but until WoW adds in Astral ships and the whole "Space" combat with some good focus on exploration and the PvP with looting then no lol. Allods has some elements that WoW has, because pretty much all MMO's have those elements. Allods truly has it's own style and has some very unique features. As far as free to play's go Allods currently looks like it will be king.
Definetly better than Alganon lol, it's sad that Alganon is a pay to play though lol.
It is kind of sad though that a free to play is more innovative and unique than a lot of the pay to plays out and comming out.
I am playing Allods russian open beta, since russian is my mother tongue, and I really do not think Allods are such a great game. ATM I have lvl 24 bowman in Allods and lvl 21 ranger in Alganon test server, and having hard time deciding which game has less flaws .
Allods can be very annoying, plus it had forced and absolutely unbalanced PVP until recent patch, which was implemented several days ago - cc has no diminishing returns, so character can be locked down indefinitely. Combat is boring, plus class I am playing is forced to prepare 7 enchanted arrows before every fight, which after several weeks becomes real burden. Very very limited bags and inventory space (even cash shop ones are just 36 slots, and you can have only one). Zones are really small, so mounts are not needed, and there are no mounts in the game. Mechanics is weird - same spell can hit for 9 and for 1800. You have to pay for zone chat. Well, I can go on and on, but sometimes this game is a blast, and sometimes huge PITA .
Alganon is a weird game - visually it is much more Vanguard than WoW imho, mobs, water, trees, characters, clunky animation, weird jumping. Levelling is easy, combat is easy, talent points do not give you alot, apart from Allods, where they change you power drasticly. All the game is just like one "wither shade of gray" - there is little to annoy (ok, mobs teleporting to you is kinda annoying, sometimes you get disconnected when gathering items), there is little to show (been there, done that), no need to group, no need to chat. You just go on and on and on. It is absolute reverse of Allods, where outdoor boss-type quest mobs are so overtuned that they kill same level tank in two hits and even two healers cant save them, so killing them requires asking help from higher level players.
Ok, sorry for my rant and probably bad english - just expressing my opinion . Both games for me are suffering from how I like to call it "RoM syndrome" - one can play it, sure, but why would he?
I read the whole MMORPG alganon forum but from newest to oldest.. Well, now I know who is Xyltan.
I have never wanted to post so much facepalm than reading these forums.. I doubt half of the flamers have even played the game though. Atleast I had great 30minutes.. have fun in Alganon.
I think QoL will hire people to come knock at your door like those jehova witness (or whatever it's called) guys... damn I hate that "squeaky clean" attitude and the fake proclamation of receiving salvation from a world of darkness.. next time you come to my door, i swear ill unleash all of 7 of my dogs on u.
It seems that MMORPG is now cracking down on these forums due to the recent pulling of QoL Advertising from their site. Has anyone else noticed that? So my best guess is that until they clean these forums up -- QoL refuses to pay for advertising. That is probably what this is really about. I mean why else would a guy in a guild named "Fags on Viagra" come here to talk about negativity.

Na thats not it they have no money i logged into my account to play for a couple hours to kill some time.
Man there was only 8 people on the server how the hell will they stay alive with numbers like that.
I dont know what it is but the game is just missing something .
I was trying to figure out what the opposite of a troll is called, not the helpful friendly posts, but rather the false glowing reviews. The answer was obviously after I found it. They are called shill's and using a false id is called sockpuppeting. Sockpuppets are a new one for me. Interestingly, the two posts I saw on Internet shilling stated that if they involve financial loss, such as duping people into buying something, they are illegal in some jurisdictions. An example was cited of Lifestyle Lift ordering it's employees to post fake positive reviews on web sites. They were sued by the New York Attorney General's office and fined $300,000.
While I'm not a fan of trolls or shills, I personally think the shill's are worse. They are trying to steal from people. I don't like the vibe I'm picking up from Alganon recently. I've posted constructive responses on some blogs that had glowing reviews of Alganon only to have them never get past the moderators whereas superficial positive comments were approved.
Anyhow, I apologize if I'm off topic, but I was happy to learn something new and wanted to share.

My brain has 2 sides;Left and right. My left side has nothing right and my right side has nothing left...

Sadly, I think you're right.
It is ridiculous what the Community Managers are doing here, and it seems any "editorial integrity" these people might have had is going down the crapper.
The funny part is, I bet Alganon had to pull their advertising for lack of funds, and made up an excuse about "trolling". It's a win-win: they get to spend less on advertising and have a game site quash any criticism of their game.
Oh, finally a new mmo featuring a trial for us laymen who have jobs and no time for betas. Aion, Darkfall - please take notice. I personally will not buy a game without a trial, just as I will not buy a music album without some samples.
no game releases with a free trial my friend though personally I believe that should. Could save people a lot of money.

I know. But hey, our loss, their gain.... *grumbles*
Better to be crazy, provided you know what sane is...

Win-win for Alganon, lose-lose for MMORPG.com.
On the one hand I have to agree that the trolling was getting out of hand, however I'm inclined to believe it was more QoL whining and pulling add revenue than anything else.
Otherwise about 3/4 of the people who regularily post of the DF forum would be long gone months ago.

It's not just the amount of time that was reduced. You are only allowed to transfer ONE character over to live server instead of just convert your account. Not to mention that one character will be strip clean when transferred. No items, no gears, and no gold.
The God of Alganon said " Welcome to the world...now I am going to strip you naked so you feel you are really just born yesterday!!"
Good one there. Alganon... good luck making trial players feel "good".
No chance I am ever going to try the trial server. They lost me when I posted my opinion of the game on the forums and had my forum account banned for it.

Plus side is if you try the trial server they can't ban you for legit feedback on their forums. Give it a try then uninstall it afterwards and let em know the truth. They can't ban you if you've tried the game and don't like it.
At least you get the option of a trial server. They took my money and still haven't sorted my missing character or missing gold.
Exactly how does being a senior member on a blog give you more gaming knowledge? I thought actually playing time would be more towards the experience mark. Guess I was wrong ,Ill have to start blogging more so I seem smarter.
