Im willing to bet that it's in alpha stage right now in Korea, by early next year, itll probably be in closed beta till march, then open beta(still in korea). My guess is probably around this time next year it will be in Closed Beta in NA.
Who knows! Well I'll make a guess and say that when it's done it will be released, can't say no fairer than that .
And even if it get released, don't expect it to ship to NA or EU countries just yet... Add another year to that.
Thats where the smart money would go. If the developers of Blade & Soul needed any incentive NOT to ship it to the EU or NA they only have to take a look at the lack of interest in Aion compared to the Asian market.
NC Soft is taking way too much time under development. When this title comes up the new features it is supposed to introduce will be common.
they just announced this year that they are workin on this one. do u expect them to develope a mmo in few months? seems u dont know much about mmos

well as we all know people in the west (NA/Europe) are whiners and wont help much to develop a game in beta. so i guess it will be like they handled aion: betas in korea and maybe some weekends for NA/Europe (when the game is close to release) to get a taste of it.
Just one minor thing, since the earth venus and moon and sun, will all be aligned with the center of the galaxy on december 21 2012, The gravitational force will destroy the earths mantel resulting in a complete reversial of the magnetic feild which in turn will case severe earthquakes/volcanoes and anything that comes into contact with the solar rays will soon perish due to the extreme doses of solar radiation. Hence the end of the world, and none of us will get to play the launched version of this game. So cross your fingers that you get into beta.

According to NCSoft, Blade & Soul is scheduled to be released this year. It's only a guess but most are saying it should hit in time for the next holiday season.
Roumor also has it that Guild Wars 2 is being pushed back (again) so NCSoft can focus money and other resourses into marketing it. The game itself appears to have been in development for a few years already.
If you are looking for a source, try google-ing the latest quarterly report.

Isn't whining in beta how you help develop a game?
Maybe NCsoft could of taken a look at its intense grind during the mid levels before they launched in the west. Or give more freedom to their western subsidiaries when it comes to setting the pace for their western audience. This way they don't have to run double xp weekends every other week just to try and salvage their subscription base.
Normally i would not complain about a game not being curtailed to western standards. But NCsoft felt the need to charge westerns more then their Eastern Audience.

Just like every other mmo available in the West and East

except for the insane number of f2p ones.
Would be interesting if a game in the west tried the Aion card subscription thing (what they do in korea). Might work well during this recession.
This game wasn't announced this year, NC-SOFT just decided to make more than a Korean version. This game was announced back mid 2009, already had some alpha footage posted on Korean site. But.. Now its more in a bigger phase and have more idea's and content to mess around with and to heighten the hype level. So... Yeah...
If there not a great branch of NC-soft and is rushed. end of 2010, or Jan. 2011. If their good and smart i will guess Mid 2011, or close to mid.
There is some new info available for this game at MMOSite.com. It says a release is planned for 2011, but is doesnt state whether is's a global or Korean release. It it's a Korean release, then don't expect it to be in NA/EU until 2012.
Same out line plan like Aion they took. Release it early on Asian market. Correct other bugs, and do changes for eastern gamers.

do we really need another p2p asian grinder?
Don't be talking crap to a game that no one has even touched yet, And technically i wouldn't care if its a grinder if its as fun as it appears. Not to mention, the PVP will probably be challenging, that and interesting quest/puzzles/dungeons/cinematics. Sounds like it has interesting enough stuff to me. Most likely like Aion you can get EXP off everything. PVP/Gathering/Killing/Quest. So if your gathering for armor or something, EXP. PVP instead of questing, EXP.
The real question is... Will it have really good end-time? Not if it is going to be a grind.
~PS: Also if they will have a better GM staff and anti-hack/anti-bot
And not to mention, this game has some unique idea's that most have no tried.

Closed beta has just or is just about to begin in Korea so give it 6 month or so over there before open beta then + 1 year before it hits over here.
If your interested in blade and soul then also take a look at Continent of the Ninth
