Tales from beyond the wormholes?

LynxJSALynxJSA Member RarePosts: 3,334

After reading Kyleran's post about their wormhole op, I was curious if others had any tales of their wormhole adventures they could share. Major conflicts? Posts established?  Accomplishements while there? Even a funny WH story?

That link doesn't really lead to an interesting story, but here's one people might enjoy.

My corporation permanently occupies several wormholes focusing on mining or combat operations.  One day we started getting messages that our mining WH was under attack, however it took a few hours to track down some of the players who worked out of there.

When the hole boss finally got online he found most of his guns had been taken down and he had about 12 BS's hammering on the shield.  The enemy also had set up a small combat player owned station (POS) and was operating out of it.

Fortunately it had a good shield, and the hole boss quickly took control of the remaining guns and used them to harass the attackers.  He also has about 6 accounts so he scrambled 6 ships including a carrier to make it look like a force was assembling.

For whatever reason, the attackers didn't quite have enough DPS and after about 8 hours or so broke off the attack leaving the shield at 59% (foolish as every EVE player knows since you need to get it to 50% to start the final timer on reinforced mode, a force truce period which gives the defenders time to prepare.

They also didn't leave anyone online either, and retreated all their ships inside their combat POS.  Well, the call went out, and we came from our other wormholes, 0.0 and empire space and put together a respectable remote rep fleet of 12 BS, 2 carriers and a small handful of support ships.

While it took quite a bit of effort to locate a large exist into low sec, we finally found one and after doing a 26 hop run across empire/loc sec we managed to get our fleet into the hole.

First order of business was to repair the shield back up to 100%, place new guns/scramblers all around the POS turning it into a virtual 'Deathstar', and then we went and attacked their station and took their shields down to 50% and put it into reinforced mode.

A few of their players came online about the time we were finishing up (just before down time) and watched us as we put the final touches on hammering their POS and beefing up our defenses.

We logged off knowing we had prepared the POS as best we could for the next day's battle when the enemies POS would come out of reinforced mode (or they would reattack ours)

Well, they weren't expecting to find a well defended hole so they spent the entire day moving all their assets out of the system leaving behind the tower and whatever structures couldn't be moved.

When the time came blew their POS out of the system and proudly put it up on our killboard knowing it was due to a great team effort that we had persevered.

Its fnny how all EVE players know you need to get it to 50% shield to get it to reinforced, when its actually 25%. Atleast you told  me I knew something I didnt even know myself

Now, see, I didn't know that.  I just shot at it until they told us we could go home. (POS busting not being one of my favorite activities.)

IIRC its 25% to get it into reinforced you have to clear 50% before you can reload with stront but its been a while since I've had to worry about it.
