Taking FOREVER to download?

in Age of Conan: Unchained

The patcher is slow as hell, it has been 2 days of downloading (first the client from mmosite) and then gigabytes in patch. Averaging 40-50kb/s with their downloader. Gave up trying to dl the client with it and went to mmosite, thankfully it seemed to work. Am I doing anything wrong or is it just this slow? Certainly the largest game by far I've seen, and I thought WoW was bad.

 

Can someone tell me how big the game file is so I know just how much more in patch I gotta download?

    Ohhhh yeah it's a bigun. I did the beta and I think I went through at least 32gb by the end of it. Are you talking about dl/ing the client itself or just the game patcher being a bitch? If the client, it could be anywhere between 14 and 18 gb, maybe more.

    The last time I patched was in October and that ended up with 25.6GB of drive space.

    The updater is being a bitch and I had to download the client off mmosite due to extreme slow speeds.

    I am not getting the downloader they speak of, instead I somehow have this crappy one.

    And thats the peak. Usually I get only 50kb/s

    That looks like the game's original downloader to me, and "crappy" summed it up well enough. I remember having to cancel it once it lags out about 2gb into a dl, then it would get a little more speed out of it for a while, until I would have to do it again.

    Allright so how do I get the better downloader that lets me pause and resume. Obviously can't download finish by tonight...

    The current patcher number I have at the bottom of it is 70866 and it shows 6 patches to go to be current from the last time I did so and I'm getting my full download speed.

    I'm not sure if the patcher is replaced with every patch or not.

    Fine in that case, how do I get the funcom download manager. Its apparently gona be another few days. This is impossible, without the proper download manager guess I won;t even stand a chance.

    I just sent you a Recruit a Friend invite to your mmorpg.com mail. Use it or not but they should provide a download link with it.

    Not very feasible since I'll probably have to download the client again, but I'll try, thanks.

    But I have no messages in inbox...?

     

    Just need the proper downloader, when I signed up for trial 2 days back they gave me this crappy one for some reason?

    Right, thanks. But with this crappy downloader that I already have, is the size displayed all I will need to play, or are there bigger and deadlier patches after this?

    Hey it seems to have suddenly sped up a tiny bit and files do seem to be saved when I pause and resume... may be able to play in say... 10 days.

    I wonder if the game is even worth it.

    Each patch's download amount is displayed separately.

    Wow so its still 32 GB? Or is it more now? This will be a long wait... mines only 24.5GB. are these insanely long patches common? One of the reasons I quit WoW is cos I spent half my subscription downloading.

    Well, lets see. When I downloaded first time (long ago) I had some troubles too, but I sorted it out, since then I have had everything from 10 kb/s to 700 kb/s and its very jumpy sometimes. (Wireless net)

    My folder is about 29,8 GB large. so your near it seems. Patches are big, but not several GBs big. Last pact was about a GB since it was so huge, guess 1,06 will be a GB also, maybe in several pieces though.
