From January 7th through to January 14th you want to consider hanging up your mining boots. Billions worth of prizes up for grabs for exhumer hulls, specifically hulk and mackinaw. Also lesser pirzes for orca and retriever.

Asteroid belts are pretty barren right now, except for concord.
sadly I was considering a return to the game (even if only for a month to see if it sparks my interest again) but after reading about this on eve's forums this morning, I will be waiting until next week (if not indefinitely..all depends on how i feel then). Cool in concept, but as a returning player the last thing I'd want is to come back day 1 and actually WANT to mine a little (lets face..it is sorta relaxing..when its "new" to ya) only to be ganked and blown to bits before i get my bearings again.
Just mine in a covetor - the difference it output is minor, it's not a target, and it's fully insurable even if it does blown up.
well, hard to see what all the fun is shooting defenceless ships.. certainly no honour in it... as pvp goes, its noobish. and only makes it more expensive for those of us who actually pvp .. to buy ships..

I plan on mining a few evenings this weekend. Might be intersting to see how many times I can get atacked and if I can survive.

Well, certainly a good time to set up "bait" Hulks and grief the griefers. I've heard discussion of such already so might not be as defenseless as they first seem ; )

I dont get it. Whats the fun in destroying defenceless ships? Unless you are a sadist that is...
My gaming blog
exactly.. there certianly isnt any challenge, so far from what i've seen its all high sec ganks using destroyers etc, had several of them in piekura recently, though im guessing their pretty much widespread. eventually i guess, they're going to try and fit shield boosters on hulks so they can tank the damage while Concord kills the gankers.. but.. it won't take long before the miners just dont go out until its all over.. more than likely they'll go mission running while the gankers are about, which means industry in eve gets more expensive, i mean come on, all those resources have to be mined by someone, so next time you go to buy yourself a new domi you'll have the pleasure of knowing you just paid an extra 20 mil because a bunch of noobs went killing miners...
giving some serious thought to wardecing some of the worst offenders.... bet they'd like getting ganked in highsec by a pvp corp
now that sounds like fun
I find that these player driven Gank contests do more for my opion and i would bet ccp's opion in having a pve server as well as Tranquility. Keep up the good work.

No, not really. About 30% of all pyerite comes from mining. Less than 50% of all tritanium, 30% of mexallon, 20% isogen, 20% nocxium..
See a trend there?
Also, keep telling yourself that you aren't getting ganked by experienced pirates. It makes your whine about it all the more funny.

ah, you think im a miner... personally i prefer to kill things that can shoot back.. but i'm sure under the right circumstances an exception can be made.

you know, as Eve is a player driven economy, exactly where are the rest of the minerals coming from then, if the miners actually mine so little of it ? the joke about the experienced pirates bit was amusing though... half the time their ships drop t1 rubbish.. barely worth looting
I see you're both clueless about suicide ganking AND economy. Nevermind the doublepost..
Have you ever considered that mission loot and drone alloys might be refined into minerals?

The amount of people running L3 and L4 missions and reprocessing their loot far exceeds the amount of miners. Thus, while each individual mission runner contributes less per person to the overall mineral market when compared to a miner, their combined impact on the mineral market is substantial.
Now with 57.3% more flames!
just because i dont suicide gank doesnt mean i dont know anything about it.. not that i havent gone global and taken a sec hit to take out someone, and had to tank gate guns, albeit in low sec not high sec, for high sec mostly rely on war decs to get the job done. as for mission running.. well yes.. i have done that, drone missions are bad payouts even at level 4 though, so stick to rat missions like angel extravaganza etc, bounties plus loot/salvage can net a good 40m - but i only mission run to get cash to buy ships to pvp with, yeah.. not a genius on the economy of eve.. im not an industrialist after all.. but i do have to buy ships/equipment, and while im not a pirate. or at least.. i dont consider myself one, its not impossible that others might see it differently .. as we've only ransomed corporations.. not individuals.. they tend to have more money
and before you go on the you only do low sec thing.. i've lived in 0.0 for a long time.. im a cap pilot, dread/carriers, and i've done pos ops, been part of fleet actions, and while their fun (except for the lag....) i get more of a kick out of roaming.. but.. we leave mining corps alone.. for the most part they dont fight worth a damn anyway. and 0 challenge = 0 fun..

CCP actually ran a database report on this subject last year. It was only a 1-day sample, but there was no particular reason to believe that the day they chose was in any way unrepresentative. Miners accounted for just under 40% of total mineral production.
Incidentally, if you ever find yourself in Sansha space, always loot the rat wrecks. The amount of minerals you will get from the drops is unbelievable. A single ratter can easily 'out-mine' a hulk focused on low-ends. The Hulk will probably gather more high end minerals if he finds a good patch of Bistot, but not a whole lot more.
And then we come to the Drone regions. Also known as the russian capital ship garden.
Give me liberty or give me lasers
Yeah, you've been tooting that horn for a while now. What a shame for you that there's exactly zero evidence that CCP will ever change their mind on their "One server" policy.
Why can't you admit that a PvE EVE server would be the most pointless thing ever?
