A few questions

MaGicBushMaGicBush Member UncommonPosts: 689

Reading up on this and just finding the game it seems interesting, I have always wanted to play a FPS type game with bases/building/conquering territory/etc. Not sure if this is under NDA or whatever, but I had some quick questions before I decide if I want to pre-order tonight(either this, or going back to LoTRO).

Is there a FAQ or something on the AvA aspect of the game? Is it in a open area with territories, and bases, etc? If they are instanced how exactly does that work? You gather a team and choose where to attack another agency on a map.. then it warns the other team or something(like if attacking a enemy base/buildings).

Do the "one-pay" and AvA go together? Levels gained in the normal mode carry over to AvA?

If I pre-order tonight, can I go ahead and download and then hop on the beta?

If I pay for the $50 package($44 actually I think looking on the main site) does that include 1-free month of AvA like a normal MMO?

Thanks for any answers, or links to faq as I am finding information kind of scarce on this game(which is strange coming out in 3 weeks or so).

    From the site:

"Conquer persistent territory - Player formed agencies compete for scarce territory, resources, and technology on a persistent world map. Create and upgrade facilities, attack and defend territories, and engage in Base Raids, production, politics and deception on your way toward world domination."

    It's on a hex map.
Do the "one-pay" and AvA go together? Levels gained in the normal mode carry over to AvA? Yes and no. They come in the same $50 package. However, you pay a one time fee for a multiplayer online FPS with a graphical lobby (think Combat Arms, etc except the lobby is a hub world). You pay monthly for a persistent world.
Of course levels carry over though. It's the same character, isn't it? =P
If I pre-order tonight, can I go ahead and download and then hop on the beta? YES! Absolutely. It's up every day from 1 PM EST to 1 AM EST.

Thanks, I did check out the site but those questions didn't seem to be answered clearly. I guess what I am mostly not understanding is how the AvA works, it talks about 60vs60 battles. As a agency leader do you choose when and where to attack on said hex map with others from your agency? What if no-one from the agency who owns the territory is online when it is attacked?

I honestly don't know the answers to these and may not until the game is released. I am not my agency's leader and it's likely that someone from every agency participating in AvA up until release will have someone on at all times due to the fact that the windows that Conquest mode is available during are very small currently.

Thanks for the answers, I think I am going to take the plunge it looks like a lot of fun. If nothing else I should get the $45 out of it.

P.S. how big is the initial download? I am assuming I probably wont actually be able to play until tomorrow since the server goes down in a hour.

No problem and if I had to guess, I'd say around 4-6 GB.

In regards to servers being up the server is often left up throughout the day, not only 1pm EST - 1am EST.  I've been playing almost literally all weekend not matter the time of day.
