I am so excited! I just got an email from Square Enix an hour ago that told me I qualified for the beta. Here's the email that I got:

Dear Beta Applicant,
We are happy to inform you that you have been selected for the Final Fantasy XIV beta test. Your system specifications and answer choices matched what we are looking for in an applicant. The beta time is TBA, but we will alert you nearing its start date. We look forward to seeing you in the game and hearing from your suggestions once the beta begins. Meanwhile, you can start downloading the client by logging in with your Square Enix userid and password then entering the beta key below. Note: This beta key is linked to your account and will only work with your userid and password.
Final Fantasy beta key:

Again, we look forward to seeing you in-game!

I am downloading the client right now! It's going a little slow, but still I'm so happy I got in. I only know of one other person to get in so far. Anyone here got in yet??

I had all of my system specs perfected and I accidentally chose to be in the PS3 beta. :O

Thank you to everyone! I am soo happy right now. My system is an hp laptop, vista 32, dual core, 9600 gt, 4gigs of ram, and free hd space for the game (I think this option was important lol). Good luck to everyone who applied. My download is finished. The client looks very cool! I can create my character but I can't log into any servers because there are none up right now.

Well since you've already supposedly broken the NDA...you should post an image of the char creation screen, or login at least to solidify this post!

Is that really against the NDA? I mean all he did was announce that he got into the beta. He isn't disclosing any information on the contents of the game, but mearly that the beta is starting (has started?) which should be common knowledge at this point.
And to point out: without corroboration of a second person being accepted, we have to take it with a grain. Plus this is about 8-10 weeks ahead of any of us ever considered the beta would happen. This is like Florida cerca 2000 ... too early to call and could drag out forever.

I doubt beta acceptation will be sent 3 weeks after the signup is opened. So like icon said, as long as we don't have a second one saying he got an invite...

A lot of games have, as a part of their NDA, a section on not disclosing that you are even in the beta.

They will probably start with low end spec systems to figure out the min requirement for game, enthusiasts rarly get invites as machine spec prob to similar to developers anyway.

Sounds to me that they are taking the lowend specs in first. Dual core is a way of the past.
Depends on how NDA is worded, but usually, yes, this is a case of breaking NDA, as most of the closed betas i have been in, had a clause saing that letting other people know that you got into beta is forbidden.

Well I dont remember agreeing to an NDA when I filled out the beta application, I dont see anywhere in that "email" where he agreed to an NDA.
With that out of the way, As with everything from this site, I am a sceptic first. I looked at other forums and i cant see anyone else being invited. So I still remain skeptical that CB is started. Maybe a screen shot of an email address would help prove it (with important stuff blacked out), but even that could be doctored. But then again, it doesnt really matter if we belive him or not.
Anyways I am half tempted now to apply with my laptop, because my laptop specs is very similar to his.

Of course he can't prove it, but a lot of us have been doing this long enough to be able to tell. For the most part.
Seems like most people here don't even know that, typically, informing others that you are in the beta is one of the first rules you are not allowed to break.

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.
