Is 10k players online simultaneously on 1 server still something you consider may happen in Darkfall? - Neptun y3
This is something that has already happened. The question is how much higher we can go.
When did this happen and how often has it happened? If it was during or immediately after launch, that doesn't really count, especially if it hasn't happened since then. Isn't hitting your theoretical server cap something you think they'd advertise? It should be big news.
Decent Q.A. session. Although a couple answers were answered with some vagueness, I thought most of the answers were informative.
"Are there any plans to further improve the economy/trading in DF? - Drasked Guillotine
Yes this is one of the things we’re focusing on actually. We’re improving monster drops and especially rare drops. We’re planning a huge itemization boost almost doubling the amount of items in the game. This will mean more ingredients, more recipes for crafting, and this should help diversify the economy significantly. We’re also planning on Clan Vendors. We’re planning on player/clan vendors in capitals and possibly in clan cities. You need to compete to secure a vendor spot in a capital, or you need to earn one.
These are just some of the direct measures we’re taking to improve the economy."
Now, I find the news of player vendors in the capitals very interesting. This will actually add a dynamic to the Darkfall economy that is needed.
"Are there plans to changing the alignment system or making it be more attractive to be a non-ARAC clan or less attractive to be ARAC? - Kasmos Melanoma
This is something we’re looking at. If we did anything it would be introduced in a mild way. We’ll also offer an option to select a different race for a small charge. Compatible race clans may already have an advantage when it comes to Dynamic Lore events."
This had to be the one disappointment answer in the whole bunch. All I can do is shake my head.
I'll give the Q.A. an overall 8.5.
I would have given it a 9 if you had posted the link with a redirect to a new window, and seen which person answered what.

Regarding the ARAC clans, I never really understood why they were allowed? Having faction based clans seems like it would lend itself towards more "reason" for fighting. I can see allying with a clan from an opposing faction, but actually having all races in your clan? It seems to go against their own lore. I think clan constraints could actually be beneficial to the game.

This is a good point. It could have only happened after launch early on. Pops are still quiet low although they are improving with every passing day overall.
Growing population = good for the game. More to kill and be killed by, a greater sense of danger and excitement, a better economy, etc...

"Changing your alignment towards good can be a challenging and difficult process." - DarkFall FAQ
Well, it basically makes alignment nothing but a small inconvenience. The alignment system has been one of my major talking points since launch. I believe that having a functional alignment system would not only make the entire Clan experience more exciting, it would also make the newbie experience much more bearable. Heck, let's add in a couple of NPC Clans based in each capital city and really spice it up?
Very good information. You kinda get the idea what they are working on right now.
And i understand AV, they cant just change something in one go! Even WoW still try and balance its gameplay after 5 years. And DF is way more comlicated. The community is angry if they dont change, and angry when they do change something.
Example: The community asked for more damage from falling. We did not want people to be able and escape by jumping of cliffs. AV responded with, the knockback grifing would be to difficult! And that we would begin to whine about that instead. Wich is true : (

Just add more aggro or whatever to knockback so that griefers get what's coming to them. I'd rather see death from great heights, personally.

I don't think it was ever considered the theoretical server cap, in fact, I believe the devs stated that their server tech would be able to support AT LEAST 10k simultaneously. i believe the theoretical cap they estimated was 40k.... which hasn't come close to being achieved.
I really don't doubt they've supported 10k simultaneously though, and the way I remember them wording their server capacity capabilities, I don't find it odd that they never mentioned it either.

I'm really excited that they hinted they might be making thing much harder on ARAC clans. I always thought ARAC clans made a game lose tons of its flavor, and was disappointed when they where implemented into Darkfall w/out heavy penalties.
The fact they even mentioned a race change feature makes me thinkl they might be considering doing some major changes, which is something I pretty much had given up hope on.
I'm not going to go into technical details, but some things are much easier to do in DX 10 and DX 11. I suppose it was easier to switch to DX 11, than implement anti-aliasing (and probably few other missing features) in existing DX9 engine.

Considering that they stated that any change would be introduced in a "mild way", I suspect that any major changes are no where in site.
Yes, this one too had me excited until I read the Q/A again, thinking that they were finally going to address the much touted Alignment system, only to realize the answer to what I consider a core mechanic of Darkfall that has needed addressing/overhauled since before release, was as vague and useless as the Alignment system itself. What is bothersome is that we are going on a year with a useless system. I'm sorry, but Aventurine actually thinking that John Q. Public can police itself without help from the developers is naive. Much less allow ARAC clans to exist without extremely harsh penalties. I mean come on, how can an ARAC clan have holdings, the infighting between the naturally warring races would make that nearly impossible.
But I suppose if all you are interested in is griefing, then it is working as intended.

Realizing that DX11 will incompass DX10 also, but without directly working with Nvidia and ATI to support Darkfall, I don't see DX11 anytime soon. Regardless of what they claim.
But hey, I may be wrong. And have been a number of times before.

We'll just have to wait and see.
I'm crossing my fingers, I can't imagine they'd need to implement race changes for anything too mild.
I'm especially surprised to see they actually have 4-legged run ready to go for Mahirim, but haven't released it. I would LOVE to see this in-game.
Haha with the new race change ability you wouldn`t have seen another race than Mahirim in Agon.
I`m a bit sad they didn`t plan to increase the skill/stats for new players, faster travel or more pvp hotspots, but the rest is good.
My favorites:
- player/clan vendors in capitals and possibly in clan cities.
-system for armor and clothing dyes
-implement a tiered clan bank access system
-user interface
-adding a chance for rare ore drops in regular nodes
Skills go up Plenty fast as is , maybe even too fast for some things, but meh , and in no way does DF need fast travel , ships/mounts are enough by far , the world is ment to be huge and take time to get across.

Fast travel would be bad for the game as it has been for other games. I agree that travel shouldn't be tedious but it shouldn't be instant either.
