They know the game has gotten too easy with the last patch and are working on it. Does this mean the game will be hard? Still too easy?  Only time will tell. At least they promiss to make it more challenging again. :)

    Just saw that too. From what I've heard about Cryptic vs. what I see...hmmm...as with the update, only time will tell I guess.

    I do not peruse the Oboards.  Was there really a contingent lobbying this game was too hard?  Because even a casual period in beta (such as mine) will find no challenge to any of the MOBs presented.  So unless there is some wacky balance issue as one progresses in levels, I simply cannot imagine anyone claiming this game is too hard.

     

    There's a lot to criticize in this game.  "Too hard" is not one.

    Before the patch when you as a group attacked a group that entire group would gank the first one to get to them in one volley, if your group wasn't close enough together they would volley everyone of your group one by one. This made it very hard sometimes. I think fixing this bug turned it too easy.

    There was a FEW posters claiming the game was too hard.One of whom posted the same thread there as he did here. But it wasn't so many that the devs should have taken them serioiusly. Certianly not to the point that they needed to use such a heavy nerf bat on PVE.

    Haven't played it yet personally, I have my beta key from Zam but have no interest in it.

     Grouping in Old school mmo's: meeting someone at the bar and chatting, getting to know them before jumping into bed.  Current mmo's grouping: tinder.  swipe, hookup, hope you don't get herpes, never see them again.

    Yes, after playing a bit more after the last patch they did swing the difficulty level way to far in the other direction. It is good to hear that they are going to correct the issue though. Most of the people that were complaining were only talking about a few boss fights that were way to hard solo(impossible really as the ships would regen their shields at a much higher rate than the damage one ship could have possible dished out). They only really needed to nerf the solo versions of those bosses a little to make them still challenging but at least doable instead of a wide sweeping change to the whole game. There were a very vocal few that were complaining that the whole game was too hard but Cryptic should have taken that with a grain of salt so-to-speak.

    Servers are going down to fix the difficulty level, i hope people give it a rest now.I mentioned it before that last patch was just a tweak to see players reaction but no one cared to believe me.

    I'm so glad they are responding to the overwhelming feedback they got on this issue.  Now it will remain to be seen if this is a minor adjustment to the middle where the game needs to be or if it is a huge pendulum swing the other direction.

    No offense, but they probably didn't believe you because that has got to be the lamest reason ever to nerf a game.

    The have to sway both ways to find the balance. I am sorry but thats how it works? You can not ignore one group of players to make the second one happy. But now since they got reactions from both camps, they can make better decisions.

    I'm perfectly fine with them going mid way. If the game is still too hard for some folks after that, then I'm sorry but LTP.

    Before the last patch I thought the combat diffculty was too easy , the current patch made it even easier .. people just need to learn how to play the game this isnt a FPS think with your head MMOs of ole use to instill that into people now not so much, so much a monkey can play most MMOs these days...

    If they actually had TIME to test and implement things properly, then they could of ended up with a system that has multiple difficulty levels (and on higher ones you get better rewards).  The have less than 10 days left though, so that doesn't really give them time to make, release, and test any changes to the current difficulty.

    Haha, so the AI was actually smart and used focus fire and that made the game too hard and considered to be a bug?

    This is why I dont like PvE. It seems to be for people that wants it easy. Focus fire is a common tactic in PvP because you know, most players can think and understands that its a more efficient tactic than everyone firing at will. But if AI does it then it is a bug. LOL

    That is exactly what some of the posters who loved this last patch said. They think PVE should be easy without much challenge. Thankfully, they are the extreme minority, at least on the official forums. I just don't get why you would want to pay 15 dollars a month for a game where you can kill 5-6 ships solo without even having to divert power to shields.

    And people actually argue with those who say this game is not fully developed and not ready to go live.  Forget for a moment that DEVs make mistakes and sometimes things go live that shouldn't - that happens.  But how do you not have you game dialed in enough, how do you not know your game well enough to just accidentally make it too easy or too hard with a patch?  Cryptic is really telegraphing just how underdeveloped and rushed this game is and anyone not paying attention and flaming those who are is just ignoring the obvious.

    Yeah, because 32 hours to change it was too long?! Dude...the patch was out for less than 2-days. This is pretty damn good turn time in my book.

    Yep, pretty good turn around, I'd agree.  However, it is also several months too late to be balancing things like this, and should have been done in closed beta.  Open beta is your marketing and polish phase, not your 'we're still testing things to get it right' phase.  Turbine with LOTRO understood this important distinction.
