The thing that amuses me the most if that myself, and millions more, will continue to play female characters while being males in real life, and there is nothing the OP can do about it but whine. I can only giggle at all the times when he finds that hot elf hes cyber'ing is actually a hairy dude =D
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.
In my opinion, it takes a real man to be able to play a female character comfortably. Those that seem offended by the fact that some men play female characters in a video game, probably have some sexuality issues.

It's funny because some people seem to take it further. They spout the fact that they play female characters like it's something to be proud of. Really? Does it make you more of a man? Not really. I think it's just a choice. Why don't you go out and wear pink while you're at it?
I will usually play a female character in games, but it really depends on the character models and races. To use WoW for example I would probably play female on most of the ally races, except for gnome. On horde I would play a male on all the races except for the blood elf.
With that said I spent much of my time on just one character which was a female Dreanai Shaman... she had a cute tail.
The creepy thing is not men playing as female avatars, but that anyone should come to an mmorpg and consider it matters...you have to think what on earth they expect to get out of playing a game. The internet is the great leveller, race, height, gender, nationality they are all irrelevent unless we choose to intrude them on anyone else....whatever your avatar you dont know who the other person is and you should use the advantages of that distance to moderate your behaviour and just setlle into the business of having fun.
Well, in my opinion part of the fun in an MMO is the social aspect and yes it does matter. I am a real person with real feelings and to find out that the person I have been trying to build a rapport with is not the person I thought them to be is pretty inconsiderate of that person.
Getting old is mandatory...growing up is optional.

Well, regardless of their avatar they can still misrepresent themselves. I actually think that if that is your concern the sexuality of the person is the least of your worries. So many people misrepresent themselves regardless of the look of their avatar.

I have no qualms wearing pink. I could go out with long hair and make-up on and I wouldn't give a crap what anyone else thinks, because I'm comforabel in my own sexuality. When I play female characters, I act like a female. I flirt with male characters. I do stereotypical femenine things like brush my hair and paint my nails. I do it because its fun, not because I want to be a woman or that I like to flirt with men in real life or deceive them in a video game. I just like to have fun.

Real people with real feelings have real lives and meet people in the real world. They dont need to try to get night elves to go to bed with them.

Well, in that case, have you tried asking if someone is a man or a woman in real life when you meet them in game? You know, instead of just assuming by their choice of avatar?
I found that asking people stuff usually gets you answers.

See, I actually play the game instead of using it to perpetuate my real life. If you are a female troll in the game, then you are female troll in real life to me. Even if you tell me otherwise or don't act like it. I want to be immersed and I will not allow you to destroy that for me.

i don't really have a reason on playing a female or male toon, usually depends on my race and class.
Well, I've never played an MMO or any other game that gender has an actual bearing on game play. Except those crappy ones where class is gender specific.

Personally, I'm a guy in real life but a chick in games. For me it actually comes from a certain desire of actually being female. Just not enough to warrant such a problematic and heavy surgery.
But at least in games I can do it easily.
I never lie about it either though. I'm honest about the person I am.
But yeah, so many that use to to get free stuff from guys or look at a cartoony butt, I don't understand those people.
But, to each their own. I'm not bothered by it. And if guys weren't so pathetic in giving free stuff just because they think someone is a chick, they wouldn't be bothered by it either.

I think that the ability to see things a possible choice where others limit themselves is a positive trait. We are limited in so many ways already, creating artificially more useless limits by yourself is definately something negative.
And wearing pink: I see daily guys wearing pink. It's normal in large modern cities. I mean a hundred years ago pink was the color for boys and blue for girls. Then it became reversed. And now slowly it's changing again. If pink is a color for men or women is simply defined by what you are taught by your surroundings. And those surroundings change. And if you don't change, you become simply old-fashioned and capable to understand your surroundings less and less.

Hey Mikaila....I really appreciate your honesty.
That was one of the points I was making...for them to tell me the reason being is they'd rather look at a female toons butt? That is an issue just as bad as cybering...I think...worse even. Rub it while looking at a toons butt? :P

Or sometimes we use a female avatar and tell people we are male
I think it just comes down to preference to play a female character for several reasons:
You get treated better
It IS nice to look at a hot sexy toon and just makes gameplay that much more enjoyable (ever heard of a little game called Tomb Raider?)
The female toons are usually not as BIG as the male characters, which might benefit you in PvP.
...those are a few I can think of off the top of my head.
Oh and btw I am a guy, and usually play a guy.
Do not try to be a great gamer, just be a gamer. Cause, I don't care how good you are anyway.

If the male avatars look dumb I play a female. I was never able to play a male avatar in guild wars because I didn't like their male avatars.
Ah yeah, Most avatars in GW are female hehe...most people find the male Avatars a bit iffy
