I would personally prefer a sci-fi setting but not in a ship but more in terms of global agenda/tabula rasa kind of way, twitch-based and probably oriented towards a more mature crowd and yes definitely 3D.

Alright, I'll have to see what I can do. I may start with a 2D game, get a prototype done, see if people like it, and then try and recruit help for a 3D game, but I'm not entirely sure what'll happen.

Most people will just see me as a stupid teenager that doesn't know what he's doing until I have a prototype, at least.

In any case, I guess with the responses here, that means I'm officially working on some sort of MMO instead of a MUD.

Hopefully you can create a good and unique game, we really are in need of them and good luck from me. Also for a 3D engine, they are fairly expensive although you can use unreal engine 3 absolutely for free unless you publish your project but torque, multiverse and the like can be bought for a fairly low price usually they range from 100 bucks to about 5k. I had a whole list of engines and guides along with prices and what not but i seriously cannot seem to find them but if i do, ill send it your way.

    Alright man, thanks!

I think I've decided after weighing the summaries of work together that it will, indeed, start in 2D until I can find a modeler, texture artist and a programmer that understands how to actually work in 3D.

So...in effect, wish me luck with the 2D venture. If you do, indeed find that list, then send it to me and I'll start looking.

I hope I can create something unique, too, and for the 2D version, I'm almost thinking that battles should be instanced in a Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories style to give me some working experience with the fighting model.

Mmm, 2D allows for simple, stylised worlds by your own hand, and can greatly reduce costs.

And you can use copyrighted, nice stuff in private, until you're ready to show people the thing, in which case you can just emulate what you've copied from the internets.

Instanced fighting? Yeah, sounds great. If it's more twitch based, that'd actually be really cool. I mean, look at Pokemon, I would kill for a twitch based pokemon battle. But oh welllllll...

I am playing EVE and it's alright... level V skills are a bit much.

You all need to learn to spell.
