and my opinion is that is has GREAT potential, but needs a lot, and I mean a LOT of work and polish.
Personally, having beta tested and played many mmo's, I was able to figure some of the stuff on my own with minimal input from the other players, but if you're someone that has only been exposed to games that take the time to introduce you to it (IE: WoW), then you will get lost very, VERY quickly and probably never play again.
I am going to keep kicking at this game, it definately has a certain charm that has drawn my eye, but if I could offer any advice to the devs:
1) Setup a tutorial, something to get people started.
2) Minimap - even if it's just in cities, it's confusing as hell trying to figure out what is where.
3) Get people killing stuff right away. You did it with crafting, how come I've yet to smash even a rat with my axe yet?
4) Interface and Advice/Help - This needs more specifics as well as having the responsiveness improved. Feels way too clunky.
I do think this could be a great game, but if they release it by March 2010, as of right now you might as well throw this one on the heap of failures that could have been great games. I would hazard a guess (unless they pull something outstanding out of their collective butts) this game needs at LEAST another year of beta testing and updating.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Can't wait to log in again tomorrow.

I agree with you that MO has a lot of potential. Unfortunately I think it needs at least another year of development to reach a state that is high enough quality for release. If they release it in the next month or two as they have said they plan to, I think the game will fail. It just isn't anywhere close to where it needs to be to compete in this genre. As it is right now, Darkfall does almost everything MO does 100x better and is in a much more stable and polished condition. DFO did not have to worry about competition in its niche when it released, but MO does not have that luxury.
Yeah lots of potential I agree, and if they play their cards right it might be great. But it still needs alot of work. And they say they are in for a release in a few months, but at the pace they are moving I would say atleast 1 year.
Few months???

I say we strike all users from the site for not being MMOs.

Q1 ends in March. I hope they do wait a few months, the game sure as hell needs it.

Let me say I know there are lots of issues with the game that need improvement.
However, most of your big complaints saund good to me. Maybe it is because I hate the handholding that goes on in most MMO's now. I like the idea of their being things in the game that require some investigation into it.
Please understand that I am not saying the game is perfect as is.....
Just want to see some challenge in the game that is not related to just knowing what the best stats for PvE or PvP or where to get the latest ubah-sword-of-bunny-slaying-goodness drops.
I like the idea of using in-game land features to navigate as it makes you PAY ATTENTION TO THE LAND FEATURES AROUND YOU.
I like the idea of having to do some crafting to be in the game. It means there will be lots of vendors close by selling you stuff in the future. They may give away some basic things in order to get you to bring them some resources to make better stuff ( hide, bone, etc...)
MMO's were fun when there was some investigation needed into how to do things. Asking around, discussing options with others. It inspired communities and cooperation with others. I am sure it also left a bad taste with some because it might not have been too intuitive. Nowadays it just feels like you are grinding out quests or skills or whatever the carrot is until you can do something big and wonderfull that is labled "END GAME".

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.
Ninja edit? Surely they officially announced such a large issue like pushing back the game an extra 2 months...
Maybe it was announced in the Newsletter? or a Press Release?

I have been it won't connect. I'm sad. I've checked like all the how to's on the MO forums and nothing has worked.
[EDIT] it says "an exception has occurred durring a WebClient request."

I was having the same problem until today. I tried it just a few minutes ago and it worked and I didn't change anything. *shrugs*
