This, you can agrue till you are blue in the face. NCSoft doesn't have compromised systems. Hacked accounts are in every MMO, keep your PC clean.

And so the issue still remains for Ncsoft account holders and Aion players.

I'm not sure why people are still posting about this.  Its obvious that any gamer's computers will always be targeted and it matters not which gaming company you are with.  So becareful what you click on and stop trying to blame Ncsoft.  There is nothing they can do to stop you from getting hacked.

WOW what a garbage post. Several people including myself and people in my legion were hacked over the weekend. Business get attacked too so stop always blaming individuals(. Example Safe credit Union system was hacked from Russia in 2006 where people money and accounts were stripped) I was at my job when i recieved an email at 0415 saying my password was changed. I have the latest and up to date antispyware, malware, i dont go on fansites, i never ever use rmt or level service or even been on thier sites. etc etc. My master account login and password were different from my login and  password and it still happened.  This is on NCsofts side. Too conicidental to just be isolated to a few peeps.

    (BBBBBBBBBBWWWWWWWWAAAAAAHHHHHHH fires plunger at hackers!!)

All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes

The were getting into the Master accounts, resetting the info, then resetting the Aion game account password, this way by changing the email associated with the account first you wouldn't be notified when your game account password was reset. It was done by the RMT but the majority of the accounts being hacked were from the above issues.

Mind posting some proof there to backup them claims?  Any smo can blow smoke..  but you need to back that smoke up with some fire.

Yes, my account was hacked. I never bought gold, went to any phishing sites or anything. Took 15 days to restore my items in which I was calling NCsoft support every day. The confirmed most of what I said.

Have the conversation recorded?  Thats some fairly big stuff to be claiming..  Even more so from a player that is disgrunted because his account got hacked. Until such time you can put down some cold hard proof then there is little stock in your claims.  Too many people claiming to many different things to believe any of it without proof to back it up.

I can my grandma said she heard from NCSoft support that there was no such issue and that your are lying.  See what I mean..  Little stock without some proof.

BTW I highly doubt there database was hacked in any form.

it was hacked and i dont have the link but it would be in the aion forums of a post from tiamat stating they had released a patch that fixed the vunerability in the ncsoft master acct  having to do with just that

i have first hand logged into my acct only to be looking at someone else then the update interestingly enough had i wanted that bot acct i could have just took it

it was a bot my cousin had confirmed it as it was weird to have seen the toon running around while i was mentioning that my acct was bugged

though i will say thats what the patch was suppose to fix whether or not it did is up for speculation im sure

It was widely reported that the NCsoft site was insecure, there was a flaw that sent you in to someone else's account when you logged in.

Had my account hacked a few weeks back, wasn't playing, didn't like the game,  but my GW acct was under the same master account, luckily nothing happened there. Took NCSoft 3 days to respond to my initial email but once I provided proof of ownership  I had the acct back within 24hrs, I actually gained from what the hacker left behind, should i ever return to Aion at least I can gear my characters up well :)

To those  blaming the player, I hope it happens to you sometime, that would at least get you off your high horses.

According to US law, anytime a company recognizes a security breach, they MUST inform all of their investors, and customers.  They wouldn't be able to "hide" it in a post on their forums.  They are required, by law, to inform anyone that might be effected in any form.  If you browse the WoW Customer Service forums, you will see multiple posts very similar to this one.  The point is, the EASIEST, and most PROFITABLE way to compromise accounts is through the user.  These thieves are very, very, ingenious in their methods.  I, personally, had a key logger installed on my computer, unbeknown to me, just by visiting wowwiki.  I, thankfully, found it before it did any damage, but there are numerous dubious malware programs floating around the net that easily install themselves without the user ever having a clue.  They abused google-adsense, and planted numerous harmful ads that installed key loggers all across the net.  Google usually catches the ads in question, and removes them, but there is still usually a time period of 24-48 hours where these ads will infect numerous systems.

These thieves work as fast, and sometimes faster, then the security software companies.  New, reformed malware are being released everyday that won't be recognized by most of the "bigger name" anti-viral/spyware/malware companies.  Most victims of these thieves never realize where nor how their account got compromised, and obviously, want to blame the "company", as they did nothing, to their knowledge, that would compromise their account.  It has nothing to do with "intelligence", or even being naive.  These thieving jerks are incredibly sneaky, and adaptable, and have stolen online accounts from the lowly, naive, newbie, to the most hardened, experienced, IT tech.  Being informed about, and practicing well known account safety techniques helps a great deal, but it does not make the compromise of your account impossible.

At least many of these MMO companies will recognize, and restore compromised accounts.  Sure, it may take 1-2 weeks in some cases, but they are not required to do squat, as there is a 99.99% chance that the compromise was through the end user (IE- the account holder).  Is it possible "hackers" compromised the companies' databases? Sure, it's possible, but the technical know how, not to mention the risk of involving international law-enforcement is extremely high.  If they steal an account from some nobody in Idaho, the impact, legally, is very very minuscule, but to "hack" into a multi-million dollar companies' secure databases?  That would definitely place them under the cross-hairs of the FBI/Interpol. There is, obviously, quite a bit of money to be made through selling these "compromised" accounts to gold-farmers/botters, but if they had the know-how, and ability to compromise blizzard's/ncsofts/etc secure databases COMPLETELY UNDETECTED, they would be ripping off financial institutes for MUCH MUCH more money, for about the same legal risk.

If these databases WERE compromised, you would be seeing numerous people reporting stolen CC/debit card #'s attached to their account.

i agree 100% with Syyth007. If there really was a security breach they wouldn't just go for the accounts.

But i think it is a fact that something is wrong in MMOland, just thinking about the flood of phisingemails i am receiving these days. in my opinion there is an organized group behind this, probably not only working with phising emails(Keylogger etc)

Well it is probably the best to doublecheck all links you follow an not to fall for sex advertisment in the official forums of Aion and WoW ;)

Here is a thread concerning the Phising emails http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/274047/Scam-email-with-screenshot.html.

    Sorry for my english ;)
