Agreed, nobody there is anything like me.  Personally, I don't give a damn what my avatar looks like and think people who spend tons of time and money trying to get "cool clothes" are immature and shallow.  I'm not there to cyber with anyone, I'm there to play a game.  What difference does it make what my clothes look like, it matters how my character performs.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
    Now Playing: None
    Hope: None

    Well that's one opinion.

I think people who spend time on customization and how the avatar looks have a better sense of aesthetics and a better appreciation for form mixed with function.

Its just that if you own someone, doesnt matter if your character looks ugly, the winning factor weights more anyway.

Its all about power, being the best, owning others.  Thats why I dont play games with cash shops that affect that.

And if the cash shop have only fluff, cosmethical stuff, to make you look cooler. I dont buy it anyway, because I dont care about that.

I can appreciate not being interested in cosmetic appeal but the winning factor only weighs more to those who find it important. Not everyone plays to win as some people play just to be in another world and to have fun.

I mostly likely would agree that most hardcore competitive people probably don't care too much about aesthetics. But those people who are interested in more than competition might have a certain idea as to who their character is and how this character fits into the world.

On topic, I have to say that I'm none of the people in "The Guild" though I do like the show and own all 3 seasons.

So far MMOs have failed to be competitive enough for me on a personal basis. Sure you could join a large guild and aim for top server ranks, but if I can whoop my team mates in a duel, then I don't see why I'm bothering.

I play shooters and combat games for that, MMOs just can't compare in terms of player versus player control and challenge.

Probably why my favorite MMO is/was Planetside...

Any who. I do like and prefer player customization and having aesthetic options in game to make my character look and act as I want or envision them. It gives me something to pay attention to, something that's actually involved enough to expend brain power on.

Owning people be too easy, I needs my brain meats to do something while I'm just meandering along.

Not sure where that adds up in comparison to the guild members...
