So when are the next line of graphic cards due to come out, what kind of preformance can we expect, and how many years will it take for mmorpgs to catch up to last generations graphic cards?
I just feel like DX10 was barely touched by mmorpg developers, so whats next? mass pvp on max settings for once?

Graphic cards are usually released around the summer time every year, and new generation of graphic cards usually costs around 700$ minimum for top of the line ones, like 5970 radeon f.x , now who has 700$ to spent on a single piece of hardware, most people use around 2000$ max on a new computer, i know the graphics card is important, but its just to much.
I remember when the 4890 came out , it was 300$ tops and it followed along with any of the new Nvidia which still charged insane prices for theirs.
I allready run max settings on my computer for most games, and im sitting on a 27" iMac with a 4850 and 8gig ddr3, No MMO out there now is running on the latest DX anyhow, so stick with DX9 for as long as you can.

That's a monster card...
...but I like the results it put out.
Nice movie of the 480, I am getting one of those to replace my 295 as soon as they are out If there is one thing that you should spend most money on in the computer it is the GFX card.
As for games with DX 11, we wont see many MMOs in the beginning with support, but they will come. It is bad enough with DX 10 support right now but that is because most MMOs are rather old and many of the newer are low budget. Upcoming games like TOR and GW2 already supports Dx10 and will hopefully have Dx 11 graphics added also. But microsoft will actually have to release it before we will see any games with support for it.
It does indeed look nice, but will also require a minimum of 650-750w PSU to go along with the other hardware requiring to run it, not only do you have to fork out a fortune to buy it, but also a fortune in the electricity bill

Sheesh, how long did we live with dx9c before dx10? And now they're already planning on 11? It's like 10 never even had a chance!
Only reasonable benchmarks indicate that:
480 is 10% faster than 5870, also eats 130 watts more during load
470 is 10 faster than 5850
Microsoft will have to release what ?
