The 260 is plenty, and NVidia seems to have fewer issues anyway. Main thing with Darkfall is having plenty of CPU power and ram, considering that Darkfall relies much more on the CPU than the GPU for running the game.
And of course, maintaining a clean machine can only help things along.
Make sure to turn post-processing off also, makes a world of difference.
Everyone I know turns Post Processing off, it looks better and DF runs better. I have an evga 295 with an i7 and still notice a difference with it off.

I swithced between an 8800Gt and a Nvidia 275 and noticed very little difference.
No need to switch off post-processing effects unles you are in a siege.

MIne looks a hell fo a lot better with post-processing on. With it off everythign is washed out.
Also, I know of no one who typcially plays with it off (unless wee are in sieges).
Go with the NVIDIA. Clannies have more issues who run on ATI.
