I enjoyed the SWG precu grind. My guildmates and/or friends would get together and kill beasts to level up, then sell the hides, meat, etc and split the profits. These grinding parties sometimes led to the beginnings of some great adventures.
Yes, pre-CU SWG got that right. Any noob could join a party and get some xp blazing away with their CDEF rifles along side Master Riflemen with their T21s. You met so many good people that way.
Oh I had forgotten all about that. I used to love grabbing new players on their first day in game and taking them on a krayt dragon or rancor hunt.
I didn't mind the PvE either because it wasn't a stupid quest grind, it was exploring dungeons, clearing out massive MASSIVE numbers of enemies with a group of friends, talking and laughing while you did it. And if you got bored of that, you could hit up the battlegrounds (REAL battlegrounds, not the stupid WoW FPS matches) and level up via killing other people. And if you got tired of both of those, you could go seek out a quest that was rich in lore and really well crafted, and have it lead you to a place you maybe never knew existed (no maps).
My favorite grind would be Guild Wars. It's not much of a grind at all though (only a lvl 20 cap). But the way they help you level is amazing. You play through a storyline the entire time. From level one you're doing missions that are interesting and build the storyline.
