After using my beloved Razer Copperhead for 4 years now, sadly I must shop for a replacement. Somehow the lens has become scratched and I can't seem to find a replacement lens for it (razer wont even just sell me a lens :S). I really hate having to buy a new mouse when all this one needs is a new lens, because other than that it's still in perfect condition. Moving on, I'm looking for something priced preferably under 50 dollars. Just for the record, don't suggest any of the logitechs with the G5 bodystyle, I use to have an old wireless mouse with that style and absolutely despised it. However, I have been looking at the G9, it looks like it would be good for the way I grip my mouse. I use what is called "claw" grip style:
So any mouse that you think works great with this kind of grip style, feel free to share with me. Also if you know of any great deals going on with the mice you mention, please share! Thanks for any suggestions, it's most appreciated.

Why not simply buy a new Copperhead? Amazon Marketplace currently has the red or green available for less than $50.

I recently bought the green one from GoGamer. It's a nice mouse, but I found that the Deathadder works better for me.
Good luck.

It's interesting that you wouldn't like the G5. Yes, it's true that it's mostly designed for a "palm grip", but I have a "claw grip" and still find no trouble with my G5 (haven't for the five years I've owned it).
To each his own, though, the Razer Copperhead was a good mouse.
Not sure, to me the G5 body style is too "bulky" after using this slimmer copperhead for so many years. When I originally used my wireless logitech, I didn't mind it but always felt a bit bulky to me size wise. Now since I've used a slim mouse like the copperhead for so long there's really no way I could go back to using it as I'm just used too slim mouse designs now. I'm not saying the design is bad, I'm just saying it's not my preference. Everyone's different, if it works for you then, awesome. I have been thinking about just getting another copperhead but I didn't want to rule out the possibility of trying something new. I've looked over the Deathadder as well and it looks like a solid option but I'm not dead set on anything just yet.
One major thing I did notice and like about the G9 was it's massive and thick skid pads. I liked that they were thick because my copperheads feet have worn paper thin over the years of abuse. I was wondering being they're so large if it effected the gliding of the mouse any being it had more surface area contact. I like my mice to move almost effortlessly.
The Razer Naga is for me the best mouse i have ever had, it has great build quality and is a solid little mouse.
But what makes it a killer mouse is the number of buttons on it, all full customizable. If you dont use them then you wont notice they are there, but if you do want to use them then they are there and can be mapped to any marco to key stroke you require.
The only thing i can say about that is bad is the position of the back and forward internet navigation keys which are a little awkward, but since you can map these to any of the other buttons it is not really an issue.
If this is not for you i am sure that the is a Razer that meets you requirements.
I can appreciate liking the smaller mouse. The G5 is a bit bulky, but then, sometimes that comes in handy (keeps things steady and movements fluid instead of jerky when needed). It's the same reason that I keep the mouse a little on the heavy side.
The big teflon feet are certainly nice. That's actually what sold me on the G5 years ago, and after 5 years of constant use, they haven't worn thin at all. I haven't personally tried the G9 yet, but it looks nice. The adjustable weights are also fairly nice. It also is a good deal smaller and lighter than the G5/G7 generation (88 grams vs ~200 grams on Wikipedia), so it would probably suit your needs well. The only question is what company you feel like going with, I suppose. Amazon sells them directly for $68, and other sellers on there seem to have them new for about $50. I doubt you'll get much cheaper than that. Even just getting a new Copperhead will set you back $40 or so anyways.
I personally love Logitech peripherals, pretty much no matter what they are (speakers, mice, keyboards), but that's just me.
I love copperhead and razer products in general but figured I'd go with the G9 this round being it's been 4 years since I've used a logitech product. I found a deal on one I just couldn't pass up for $35, being they sell brand new for 65 or so. I'll give it a go, hopefully it will suit my needs in a gaming mouse. The weights are definitely a huge plus being able to adjust it. It's something I never had an issue with the copperhead though, all the weight is below the ridgeline that I grip on it so even though it was small the control and balance of it is excellent. The only thing that bothers me about the G9 is the placement of the buttons on the left side, they may be in my way but we'll see. Something that the G9 fixes for me that annoyed me with the Copperhead was I used the buttons on the right side to change the sensitvity. This was a bit awkward to use efficiently during a game being their placement. The G9 on the otherhand is right there behind the left click, so i'm looking forward to see how this effects my on the fly sensitivity changing. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll report back here with my thoughts on the G9.
-Cheers
I use the Razer Naga also, an essential for anyone that plays MMORPGs or FPS in my opinion.

I second this. I love my Naga!!!
yeah, this bothered me for a while too.....but then I got used to using them with the side of my index finger, instead of trying to reach them with my thumb.
It may look odd but i have used this mouse forever and will continue too. it has side buttons on both right and left sides (somthignt hat should be more popular ).
Only complaint would be a very strong/loud clicking middle wheel, which i don't mind but some may.

The naga is super pro tho. i perfer the intelmouse for fps, but for mmos i love the naga

Ive always thought the more ergonomic shaped mouses like the G5 G9 were aimed more toward claw users.
I like to keep my palm flat on the mouse using my first 3 fingers (middle finger on scroll) and high contoured mice almost force my hand into a claw position during intense gaming (fps, pvp) so I usually go with razer mice. My palm may lay nice and neat over the contour when im browsing the internet or just being relaxed, but during intense gaming my hand automatically pops up on ergonomic mice.
I tried the naga, the right mouse button is too narrow for me. Also seemed too ergonomically shaped, not lke other razers I used. I took the naga back and got the razer lachesis. No more arching my palm over the mouse and my hand lays flat perfect for quick turns and quick head movement.
but I digress, Id suggest a logitech G series for claw users..but thats just me
Alright, so I'm not the only one. When I grip my G5 with a claw grip, my hand fits perfectly. The only other mouse that works so well for this is my tiny little Logitech portable mouse that I use with my notebook (it's a little corded mouse that's about 5 inches long, making a palm grip very difficult).
No offense, man.....but you've got some FAT fingers if you find the Naga's buttons too narrow. they're like 1" wide.
Check out the SteelSeries Xai, I use the claw grip and this mouse feels very nice to use for me.
All those memories will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
Can anyone tell me whats the mouse that is in the first photo, please?

The one from the first photo I believe is the Razer Lachesis. I used to use that one before I got my Mamba and it's a pretty decent mouse
ya, just the right button for some reason didnt seem to fit my hand. Since I use that button for almost all of my aiming it was an issue. I think they crammed too much on the mouse and let the right mouse button suffer for it.
The Razer Death Adder

It's about 10 bucks more than you probably want to spend, but as someone with a claw grip as well, it's the best and most comfortable mouse I've ever owned. It's also really precise. The only thing I would recommend with it is to get a big mousepad, as the back of the mouse is a bit wider than some others I've used.
odd....it seems to fit my hand perfectly...almost as if it was designed specifically for MY hand, if you get my meaning.
I've never held a more comfortable mouse.
But, I realise of course that everyone's hand is different. Thankfully there are some REALLY nice gaming mice on the market tehse days, and so we all have a lot to choose from
I used one of these before getting my Naga, the same people that designed the Death Adder and the Mamba designed the Naga. The Naga is very similar to the Death Adder Except for the 12 side buttons and the forward and back buttons being next to the LMB.
The Death Adder was my favourite mouse until I bought the Naga as I play MMORPGs but I have nothing bad to say about the Death Adder at all. Razer are damn good at making mice.

Razer Death Adder all the way.... got to pay for perfection and the Razer Death Adder is perfection.
No I was not paid by Razer to say that.
Nice to hear that you like the Naga. I've really been considering it for MMO use, though I like the G9 I'm using as well.
Are the side buttons on the Naga pretty easy to use?
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Just got the G9 in today, it's heavier and wider than I expected but I'm sure in time I'll get used to it. With that said, I didn't even bother messing with any of the weights. The weight of the mouse itself seems to be distributed pretty well and balanced. Both grips the G9 comes with are equally comfortable to me, though I have taken a liking to the performance grip, I'm sure palm users would prefer the wide grip. It glides pretty well on my plasticish/vinyl mousepad, better than I expected, I'll probably still pick up a better mouse pad and some extra feet for it. I'm used to kinda "rocking" the copperhead when I used it, the base was not as wide as the top so in a sense it gave you greater control of the laser and made it easy to do "swooping" motions. Where as the base of the G9 is wider than the top and doesn't feel as natural, kinda makes me feel "flat handed"? and not as controlled. The right click is very short, definitely going to take some getting used to being I hold mice pretty far back. The MMB takes some effort to click, so if you're big on using it that could be an issue, I never use them. That about sums up my first impression of it
