Just Can't play games anymore

bosmer24bosmer24 Member UncommonPosts: 116

I've had this problem for years.Since 2001-2003.It has gotten worse since 2005.I just cannot get into games like i was once able to.I remember playing Daggerfall for hours,a long with fallout, and fallout 2.I remember years later being pumped up for morrowind to release.I got it,played it for maybe an hour.

It's the same with mmorpg's.I can't get into one,my mind wanders, and i get distracted.Part of me wanders,"you enjoy games, but why can't you get into them anymore?!"

Maybe just life long burn out from playing games since commodore 64?

Activities i use to enjoy that is don't interest me anymore. And what most people consider fun I don't.

Anyone else have this problem?

By playing a lot of game you get the having seen it all syndrome. I almost do not finish any game, I now more likely play games online against other gamers. It must be a bit competitive so be it an MMO it needs to have pvp preferably open pvp.

Your taste changes with the years and experience with games, maybe (if not done yet) try play game genres  you have not considered yet. Als it seems like you try force yourself playing/liking games. You do not need games, we should play games for fun. If the game is not fun to you do not play it.

It's better to play 1 minute and have fun than 10 hours being bored. Don't fret the amount you play.

I am the same, I wont buy a game unless it has a multiplayer, single player games dont grab me any more, I am sure 5 years ago I would of loved DragonAge as it my kind of game, but I played 5 hours and I was done.  Same with Fallout 3 about 8 hours in and I was done. I cannot finish a single player game any more unless it has multiplayer waiting in the wings.

    Maybe I am getting old.

I do NOT think that PC gaming is over... it will always be the choice of the gaming enthusiast who is willing to put in the extra effort for a richer, more rewarding experience.

Getting the same here most games i buy i dont complete as they are so samey game genras like 4X games ant RTS ones are the most common gametype i cant complete as they generally lack innovation. The only saving grace was Supreme commander 1.

I hear you ask why no mention of Supreme commander 2? Simple in supreme commander 2 the maps were greatly reduced in size, the AI was dumbed down and the number of maps were both uninspiring and all the good big maps which most like to play on are only available as a 'special edition bonus'. C and C was hit by the Console Hammer too, small maps no single player and simplistic Multiplayer with artificial limits.

The multiplayer was ok tho as it usually is. Of course it wasant hard to see why those changes were made, this was done so the consoles could handle and it was simplified for console players.

I will say tho the Genras i dont often play are more interesting such as just cause 2 which i got yesterday ;)

omg you write about your C64 as if you don't play it anymore.

You sound like a lot of devs I know ;) ..not that it slows their work down :D

Ever hear of Inform? :) It's a good place to start when you feel burnout from everyones games.

Anyhoot, up and down, yes, but my Sears Pong system will lay in my casket next to me one day.

got a 2600 around '85 and my first C=64 one or two years later... been playing ever since but i know the problem. i send a whole summer with elite but it's hard to find new games that suck me in like that anymore. until 3-4 years ago... sure, most new games are still shallow and more eyecandy than anything else but i found my love for indie games and replay a lot of classics.

and if you have nothing against ascii try dwarf fortress... and nethack as a filler is always a good choice. :)
