I would imagine the game has it's own website and forums.
Watch the video. Ask for help in faction chat. If they don't help start shooting your own faction or friendly factions.
"Traditionally, massively multiplier online games have been about three basic gameplay pillars combat, exploration and character progression. In Alganon, in addition to these we've added the fourth pillar to the equation: Copy & Paste."
Yeah yeah yeah, "do it yourself".
I'ma do you a solid and lay it down for ya. You need to pick a faction that suits your style, and if you already created a character you'll have to kill it off to get the slot back. This means you need to die enough times to where you don't have the money to clone, so just hand off the cash you got and kill yourself. Then go back in with the knowledge of what you wanna do.
~and that is exactly what each faction is about; a role. Very interesting game, all around.
LED - The police. They have the ability to equip eye implants that check people for criminal points and contraband. They also get stun weapons to knock people out so they can be arrested and sent to the prison world to work off their criminal points. These guys are mostly jackoffs in my experience, because of the obvious power with no restrictions, but if this sounds like fun have at it.
GCD - The military. They get a private world and usually don't own much else. They basically bumrush worlds during raids and sieges, because it's what they do. i don't really think they serve much of a purpose beyond being a boot in the ass to most everyone else. if you like coordinated attacks, and often, then this is the way to go.
GoM - The chillaxed. This is basically the social group that mediates other peoples beef, and they mostly hang around their home planet and craft. It's for people who don't mind doing nothing as long as there are people about, I guess. I don't see the draw beyond cheaper clones, but then again, they are never locked in war - that's a plus for your wallet.
BoS - The mafia. They are the mortal enemies of the LED and GCD, and yet they sell them their speciatly good all the time; drugs. ~and I mean every drug in the book can be made, if I started listing them I'd get moderated. If you like being a baddish guy and slangin' dope, it's pretty cool.
CMG - The mining company. They can craft, but most of the goals are to recover resources from various planets. They are basically miners, so it means a lot of standing around. They make money like nobody's businees though.
EuroCore - A company. They craft, but they war too. Last I played they were the biggest corporation-type faction in the game. I forget what their specialty is, but they make something specifically with gusto. Or maybe it was that they get the best crafting bonuses in general, fairly sure it's for pure crafters.
Vortec - Another company. This is the smallest faction atm, I think. Their specialty is cheep transit for goods, which allows them to provide a service for other players the problem is that nobody is going to trust a stranger with their shit. These guys never get called on, but the first guy to truly get trusted is gonna be f'n rich. Good luck doing that though.
Mercenaries - The most difficult to be in. This is for veterans imo, as there is no unified force, and it's every man for himself. There are guilds in the form of 'cells' and they can contract out to harass other players or kill bounties, but otherwise it's running a small-time operation where you have to find out how to get paid for PvPing - which comes free most of the time. This faction is ruled by a few predominant cheaters with aimbot and other crap though.
Your whole experience will depend on what role you wanna take. If any picks your fancy I might be able to explain more about what they do, or how to make money/etc.

I wanted to love this game.. but it fails because the players have TOO much control. I was in LED and as already mentioned the ones I encountered were just power hogs. All they did was order me around, and tell me "I didn't belong or wasn't allowed" in whatever area. Then they'd turn around and shoot and arrest people who looked at them the wrong way. You can't leave this kind of stuff in the hands of players who have the respect level of common criminals.
