I recently realized how much I enjoy the freedom of UI addons in WoW. I'm really not a big WoW fan, I play mostly for my girlfriend, this is her first MMO and I can't seem to get her interested in another. But with this realization I'm wondering if this is why I'm no longer playing CoH or the several other MMOs I've played and how the MMOs I'm looking forward to will fare. I'm a huge SW fan, sorry I'm just a geek at heart, I read the books, love most (sorry George but you screwed us) of the movies and TV shows and got a warm tingly feeling all over when I saw the first shots of Tatooine. Memories from early SWG, I left long before "the change", came flooding back and I swear I felt like a little kid at Christmas but if I'm locked into a UI, even one that can be unlocked to some extent, I don't think I'll be as happy as I could be. I feel the same for all the MMOs I'm looking forward to. I really think WoW shouldn't be held up as an example of what a MMO should be except for this point. Nothing against WoW or Blizz but I'm an old school player who misses games with the challenge early UO and early EQ had but I think UI addons are something any future MMO devs should really be looking into. Just to be clear I'm not talking about game changing addons, Questhelper (before Blizz created their own) comes to mind but at the same time I think alot of the changes we've seen in WoW's UI, etc. can be linked to past addons. Anyway does anyone else think this is a necessary feature or completely disagree with me?
