What's the name of that mechanic, that reduces damage taken and increases heal? Hope or something like that.
Who wants to bet consumables to greatly improve it will be for sale?
I'd imagine they will have hope tokens available. They've already stated that most of the stuff in the store will also be available in game, by putting it in the store they are just providing an alternate way of getting it if you can't craft it or purchase it on the auction house. As they've said most of the items are going to be convenience items.

Or just buy the Elhedren (sp?) tokens that two different player tradeskills can make from other players, or make them yourself. You get the same effect, and don't have to spend real cash on them.

It's amazing how many people are willfully ignorant when the answers are just a google search away.
Pfft. Using Google or actually doing a bit of research would get in the way of all the forum drama and wankery. Some people would rather just knee-jerk and whine about things instead of seeing the details.
it isn't fraud, people are freaking out for nothing. I'm a LOTRO founder and to me they just made sure LOTRO is going to be around for a long long time. Will there be some idiot players because of the F2P model? Will there be glitches? Probably. But there's always good and bad in every situation, and I prefer to focus on the good.
After 3 years of playing this game, there are days I get fed-up of grinding, especially since I've limited game time, but all in all I've had a blast playing LOTRO and I've made a lot of friends in my kinships. I know that I'll be playing for sometime yet and I can't wait for Enedwaith to be released this fall.
And all lifetime subs will be given VIP status at no cost, plus a bunch of free coins each month, that you can save up and spend on the next expansion (so get that for free too). Without the lifetime sub, you would be spending the normal £10 a month on the game.
I think the guy has a point. If you look to DDO they are selling things in the store (i.e. the newest class) that would otherwise be included in a subscription (lifetime or otherwise) and other things are similarly skewed to drive cash shop sales. So if they do LotRO the same way you can bet that lifers and other sub folks will not be getting things they would if the game wasn't "F2P".

Value is only one way to judge it. VIP members getting great value for their lifetime membership is fine, but if that that 'value' isn't something they want nor thought they were paying for, its fair for them to feel screwed over.

I didn't say anything about value. What subcribers will be losing is actual game features. In a sub model you get full access to all classes and game features - in the F2P model you get only certain access (see thier list already detailing "specials classess" and other distinctions/limits on even VIPs).
As I said, look to DDO. If you are VIP in DDO you pay same as you did before F2P but you now do not get access to the new healer class, Favored Soul - this is only available through purchase in cash shop or my completing an excuriatingly long in game grind. So extropolating to LotRO think of not getting Rune Keeper when Moria came out unless you did some massive in game grind or bought it for extra money aside from the exp/sub.

Seems you completely missed the note about people who have already bought/paid for the game & expansions DO get access to those things for free.
edit: meh, disregard whatever i already said below that, was thinking premium not VIP. regardless, the note mentioned above still holds true, and if you are already subbed, nothing to worry about, nothing changs for you.
You're absolutely right. The issue people seem to be getting hung up on, however, if the difference between "legal" and "reasonable".
......
Your purchase was bad timing or your part and it's your tough luck.
But that's the crux of this issue. It wasn't "bad timing" on the OP's part. Codemasters ran a sale on a product they knew was going to drastically change in the near future, and if the OP had had that information he would not have made the purchase.
And the timing of the sale seems to suggest that Codemasters knew this would be the case.
So it may very well be illegal.
Your example is NOT illegal. Companies do it all the time.
BTW, it's also legal to sell a product for more than the price printed on its packaging. In fact, a store can put a sticker OVER the lower price and it's still legal.

Jewelers make Edhelharn tokens (hope tokens). You can buy a hope buff with destiny points too. There is a low level piece of headgear from the Shire that has a buff on it (it's been changed from hope to radiance and around again through a few updates - I don't know if the buff is radiance or hope now).
The last time I messed around with it, the Scholar tradeskill could make them as well.

Any current subscribers who have bought either Mines of Moria or Siege of Mirkwood or both continue to get access to all of the features those introduced, including the two classes even if they stop subscribing. The FAQ on the site covers all this in detail.

In DDO if you reach 2500 total favor it unlocks the favoured soul class on the server that you have reached that favor on regardless of whether you are a f2p player or a paying subscriber. However if you don't wish to wait till you get to that you can purchase it in the store which will unlock it on all servers. So as stated it's a matter of convenience and it's the choice of the player.
The ONLY thing that current subscribers will lose access to if they stop their subscription after f2p comes in is access to some of the quests in the pre-MoM zones and depending on how long they have been subbed to the game they will likely have a large enough amount of points aquired that they will be able to just repurchase those zones anyways, allowing them to unlock those areas again without a subscription.
Essentially for those that choose to, they can use the points to get what is nearly equivalent to the lifetime subs, minus the 500 point a month allowance and priority server access.
