Lol, thats a game change paragraph not a subscritpion change paragraph. Denied.
"Turbine can make anny change to the game anny time" also sub based changes.. whatever, they can move their servers to another country, they can fire the whole dev team and make a new one... Or you can't read or you are just dumb and to ignorant to be able to READ things. Or you are just a troll that likes to troll on forums like this and you see acting like an idiot as a hobby and free entertainment. If that is the case, then I can tell you that people like you are the problem of the f2p genre. Guy's like you are game breaking. So be proud!
Afraid not. Big difference between a piece of software like a game and money payments. Real big.
The EULA is about that piece of software AND about the payment. You just don't want to say that you are sooo wrong 'sweetheart' :-)
annyway, I just found another troll poster. Do you guy's get paid for acting like this and ruining forums like mmorpg.com? I've seen a LOT of trolls the past few years. And how bigger the forum becomes how more trolls I see.. a pitty. people like you shouldn't be allowed in a place like this.
That's right, sweety. And the EULA part that includes payment mentions nothing about changes to the subscription model into a free to play in the future. That could be interpreted as a breach of contract in the court room. And fraudulent to dupe lifetime subscription payers into parting with their money.
Threads like these always make me laugh. The same people who whine and cry about F2P games having immature crowds are the same ones who turn into dramatic, emo, entitlement brats when a developer makes a perfectly legal change that they don't like. It's hilarious.

That is not Fraud. A company has the right to change its subscription philisophy as they please, read the user agreement.
Besides, I bet Turbine will compensate lifetime subscribers with lots of offers of paid content and free items and expansions
yes, they will be paying Lifetime subscribers 500 tokens a month redeemable at the store. You bought a lifetime sub and now they pay you.
No, a better payment would be unlimited access to the store. They already payed for all patches and content offered over the lifetime of the game. Now in return, they only get 500 fake monies to use in the store. They should have unlimited access.

Yeah, we paid for all patches and content offered over the lifetime of the game. You know what our reward was? We got to play the content. That's it. That's all it should be. Sorry, but greedy folks like you won't even be acknowledged.

What? You're not even making sense.
You payed the for the game. The entire game. Everything in the game. All the content put into it.
Now, with the new model, you're only given partial access, and the rest is locked away in a store. Sure you have 500 tokens for the store, but that's still a limit. You won't have access to all the content you payed for.
I simply cannot believe how many lifetimers think this is actually a good deal. You are being played, simple. They have taken your money for the lifetime and are now going to change the game so that you end up spending at least the equivilant of a monthly sub on pots, fluff, expansions, gear etc from the store.
A very sad day indeed.
~and you are being childish, simple. Everything has to do with your distaste for F2P games and F2P players, and it's been determined that elitist attitudes like that were lame a long time ago. Keep up with the times.
They say that the closer a philosophy, religion, or political stance is to "death", the more aggressive its proponents are. A similar thing is happening here.
The traditional P2P model is on its deathbed and I, for one, will be glad to see it take its last breath.
I'm looking forward to a future where I get to decide how much money to spend on a game.

How are you incapable of following that logic?
Show me what's locked away in the store that can't be obtained in-game and that isn't already available to VIP subscribes (those who pay monthly, lifers, and Founders). Have you seen the chart?

Are there costumes and items and vanity features locked away in the store that you can't get by any other means? Or is the store just a short cut? That's the big difference with a lot of these item shops.
A contract is a contract is a contract. If Turbine and / or Codemasters are found to be in breach of contract and are charged with embezzlement or other types of fraud to deceive the consumer then they may be in deep, deep trouble indeed.
They did nothing wrong.. you should read the users agreement.. that is actually.. a contract you have with codemasters/turbine.
If it says something like 'oh by the way we are going free to play one day despite you the consumer giving us pots of money, thanks' that is fair enough. Otherwise... breach of contract and deception which is embezzlement which is fraud.
Well.. too bad.. But the user agreement indeed says something like that. They can make changes to the game, change the bussiness model of the game, ban you from the game, pull the plug out of the game, sell the game,.... everything, and there is nothing you can do about it. Because you signed the user agreement when you made your account. It is not in that words indeed, they say it in a more polite way. But that's basically what's in the user agreements of ALL games on this planet. Just no one reads those :-)
I have read the EULA. It says basically 'pay to play' and nothing about going to free to play eventually. Which technically means they have deceived the consumer even with an iron-tiight license granting contract agreement.
It is not going free to play, F2P will still have to pay for the content as they progress, and people on the F2P model will end up paying more, as there are still pay to play options to cut that cost down.
The Free to Play system is nothing more than a glorified free trial which all P2P games have.

From what's been described, the store is a short cut. Potions, exp bonuses, and content for Free or Premium subscribers that can all be obtained in-game. It's possible that there may be cosmetic items that are store exclusive, but then we get into the argument that most other P2P MMOs with a cash shop faces. Turbine just seems to recognize that people who are paying a sub don't want to be bothered by this change, so they're keeping everything the same (except giving them 500 Turbine Points monthly).

I'll know for sure when they start the beta.
Doubter - not in the game yet.
If they make anything in the store exclusive and make you need tokens to buy them, then they've stolen content away from lifetime subscribers. That's whats going to make people angry.
Bah...The lifers will all be VIPs AND get turbine bucks or whatever to buy anything they are missing. Plus they can apply those turbine points to DDO as well.

I slew the massive quote-chain beast!
Yes, it may make people angry, but wouldn't they be angrier if Turbine gave no Points monthly and charged $10 instead? Or perhaps $25 for a new shiny space-crystal mount instead of 5,000 (Blizzard)... err Turbine Points? And I don't know if I'd call it "stealing." To me, all the lifetime sub meant was that you didn't have to pay monthly for the game. Others will think that it means they should have access to anything Turbine ever does, and I can understand that. With the outfit system already in-game, I think store exclusive vanity items are a logical addition. But the point is kind of moot; if these items cost Turbine Points and Turbine is giving lifers free points monthly, they'll get all the content - just not right away. Turbine is not profiting from the deal.

No one is getting shafted in this.
But they have a finite amount of bucks. So, logically, there will be something they cannot buy, and thus they will be locked out of content they already payed for.

Any content that is available from the store that VIP players need to purchase will be above and beyond the lifetime expectations, but VIP customers will get all premium content for free - no money and no points.

You paid 75 for what you got. That is the contract.
Now they made another change, that doesn't change your contract.
Best post....ever?
Still waiting for someone to refute this.
If breach of contract can be found, and it just might, then there may be a case for embezzlement amongst other charges.
