Worth coming back?

I played WAR at release, got up to tier 3 and was dismayed at how quickly the game devolved into a grind and how empty the PQs and RvR lakes were. I quit just a couple levels prior to tier 4.

 

Now I'm thinking of resubbing and want to know a few things before I do.

 

1. Does the game have any kind of future? I'm sorry, but if I'm going to pay $15 a month, I want the game to be around for a while. I know the content updates stopped after the land of the dead, and that worries me.

 

2. Is high level PvP more than just an AoE spamfest with BW/sorc wreaking havoc?

 

3. Are keep sieges still slow, boring wars of attrition?

 

4. With the funneling of new players into EvC, are the other pairings dead?

This game has seen far better days, in terms of population... and it's not really getting any better. With recent shit storm of players get overcharged a bajillion times, and peoples account's being recently compromised. It's not looking good for Mythic at all, and no matter what they do..... it's take one step forward, and take two steps backwards with them.

For their future, and Warhammers... it's pretty uncertain what will happen. Though seeing how a game like DAoC is still around, Warhammer isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Plus if, TOR end's up being a huge becon of light for EA's MMO divison...... i really don't see Warhammer going anywhere at all. With Bioware leading the way with EA's MMO divison, they have said about wanting to help out on releasing some new content in the future for War. Just don't hold your breathe though.

AoE has been toned down, for all classes in some way. So no it's not a AoE, CC shit storm like it was back in the day. Even though people still complain of BW/Sorc bomb groups, but it's more of a L2P thing to combat them, and people just wanting to be babies for the hell of it, now a days.

 It's fast, and ez-mode now, gear is handed out like candy now.. with recent changes to the system.

In T1, the other pairings can be pretty dead, because of it. But in Chaos/Empire, always something going on.. because of it.

Now if your account has been in-active for 90+ day's... you can re-activate for free for 10 day's... to check out where you left off. Now personally do i feel is it worth returning to the game? For me, no.... and why, is because Mythic has gone to great lenghts, to piss in everyones Cheerios each day, and their approach, and attitude... about the path this game is going, and not listening to the community, and lack of getting envolved with said community... has been pretty shittastic.

If you can overlook, Mythic being a group of a grade A shithead's.. then maybe. This game still offers some fun PvP, that can't really be found in too many other games out there. Though don't go in expecting to be treated, like you actually matter to Mythic, because you don't matter to them, just like everyone else.

bioware better keep their dirty hands off this game... the last thing the game needs is "more story" or some other marketing scheme that bioware is trying to pull with their new star wars game. bioware makes some above average single player games, but that equation doesn't work for MMOs. bioware doing anything to WAR would only lead to a horrible mix of bioware's work slapped on top of mythic's creation. it would be like icing a cake with mustard. the two flavors don't mix well.

Mythic isn't in a position anymore  to go ahead.. and do everything on their own anymore. They have dropped the ball repeated amounts of times.. through course of this games life span, wasted more then enough of EA's money and have suffered major job cut's. They need every ounce of help they can get.. now a day's.

It's been a while since I canceled, so I might qualify for the free 10 days. My love for Tzeentch should make it bearable, even if the population is dead.

 

Anyone here play on Phoenix Throne? (if that server is even around anymore)

Phoenix Throne got merged into a couple of the last 4 servers left, Badlands being one of them. I can't remember the other choice at the time, i believe it was Gorfang.
