There's a thread on the official froums closing in on 200 pages that started with a guy posting a link to a screenshot to a testing event this weekend 25-27 June for the Ord Mantell starting planet and the trooper and smuggler classes up to level 7. Links and mentions of the link are being deleted, but the thread continues to grow like wildfire. Usually, false reports of testing or whatever are locked pronto, but CM Sean Dahlberg has even posted in this thread without confirming or denying this is true, but it appears this is legit.
Bottom line is I'm glad external testing appears to be starting so early and hope this means the game will be relatively bug free when it launches.

The link to the screenie of the email is gone, but it said testing the Ord Mantell starting area for the trooper and smuggler class, up to level 7, from 5pm CDT June 25 until June 27, so basically the whole weekend, we look forward to your feedback, blah blah blah. No idea on number of invites that went out, and I didn't get one hehe. TBH I won't have time the next two weeks to devote to testing even if I got an invite, so no big deal.
It is true, I got an invite in my email box earlier today. I cant say what I was selected to test, but it wasn't Trooper/Smuggler like the guy on the official forums. Seems folks are getting sorted into different pairings to test.
According to the agreement, we are allowed to say that 1) Yes, there is a test, and 2) I am a part of it. Everything else is under strict NDA

Unfortunately, I didn't land an invite either. I'm sure the game will still be stable when it comes out, however, with or without me beta-testing it.

Read the thread on SWTOR.com theres already to many doubts for it to be real. First off someone who was invited would have definately said so, its not under the SWTOR NDA that you are not alloewd to say your in testing. ALso bioware has stated that when the transition from alpha to beta begins, they would be open about it and tell us. And second, what beta invited 200 people in the first, round, it sounds just ridiculous to teese people. If its true its probably just a test open to friends and family of the developers or something.

I envy the ones that received an invite.
No invites for me, but wow it is exciting news (assuming it is true). I didn't think testing would start this early with the release date almost a year away... unless that means it is closer to release than we've been lead to believe.
Did everyone read this section?

not too bothered about not getting selected, simply testing game features to see if ti works or not

I am really happy and really sad at the same time. This is an unusual feeling that most probably doesn't come along too often.
I am happy that testing has started but unhappy like so many others who didn't get an invite.
Gratz to those who did and I hope you all enjoy being the 1st to play it.
