What do YOU wan't to play

drkoracledrkoracle Member UncommonPosts: 120

As most of you I am a WoW refugee looking for a new game, in the past I played UO, EQ, EQ2, GW, WAR, AOC, LOTRO, AION and just a whole heap more, and right now there is nothing released that I am interested in. I am definitaly going to buy GW2, SWTOR, TERA and RIFT and maybee WAR40K

So my question is what future MMO release are you most looking forward to and why.

I am merely interested in SWTOR right now. I was super excited when I saw the trailer, but when I say the gameplay I immediately lost my raging... Passion. It just looks like the same formula we've already seen a million times before. Sad panda.

Guild Wars 2 looks a bit better, though I honestly haven't looked into it that much. There's still plenty of time for a great game to come forth, however.

Tera looks like a pretty cool game, combat-wise. Though, it just reminds me of Monster Hunter. Which I do NOT like, mostly because of the bathtub area style. Makes me feel claustrophobic.

    WAR40K? Meh. Don't really care.

And Rift I also have not really delved into either.

All in all the future looks disappointing, but that's just my quick opinion.

    Forgot to mention FFXIV.

That'll be the game I'm most interested in, I must say! :3

    FFXIV

SWTOR is my primary choice.  I'll only have a chance to play one MMO and that will be the one.  That's a kind of shame because FFXIV and GW2 look interesting as well.

well, im a EX Player (WOW, FFXI everquest). got tired of playing MMOs cuz mostly they're all the same crap.

i just played mostly JUST play single player games (killing floor, CS:source, torchlight, WC3) cuz im really tired of dealing with the new retarted generation of players. saving my money for Tera, FFXIV, and SWTOR but until then i'm just going to be playing multiplayer games.

I'm liking Tera the best so far.
To many years of auto attack and stuff has got to me(don't get me wrong I still love the traditional game play of MMOs).
I'm looking forward to their Shooter style fantasy mmo. Reminds me somewhat of Monster Hunter.
However, FFXIV looks amazing and being an old FFXI player I would def try that game after some reviews when its released.
SWTOL looks good also but I'd like to learn more about it, definitely going to be a great game though.

Personally im looking most forward to Rift. Something about it reminds me of what i thought EQ2 was back when EQ2 was first released. The one thing that I saw about it that I didnt like was that there would be no player housing at launch, but thats not a deal breaker for me. I like the many different class choices there will be. I had played EQ for quite awhile and I was surprised when I heard how few classes there were in WoW.

GW2 also looks pretty interesting to me, but not as much as Rift right now.

Don't want to play any of those games but I do want to see and wait how Fallout Online turns out, hopefully it will be innovative and unique but then I don't put too much stock into MMOs and don't get my expectations too high .

The Old Republic! I think they are developing a smash hit. Not something to satisfy fanbois, and those hard core, gotta be FFA PvP!, gotta be a sandbox! etc., etc., types, but something that the general MMORPG gamer is going to have a lot of fun with.

Personaly I wan't GW2, I liked GW1 but hated the low level cap and the hub system, as GW2 is act a full MMO I think it's going to rock + Felicia Day does some voice over work for em ^^ mmmm Felicia

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but all of you feverishly clicking the SWTOR are going to be in for a massive disappointment.

I've seen nothing that indicates that the game is anything other than a rehash of the same gameplay most of us have grown tired of, given a new skin.

Agreed, and most of them will be back in 3-6 months hyping the next big thing that will turn out to be another disapointment.

Personally I'm interested in Rift Planes of Telara. Its the only MMO at E3 that got my attention. Tera is a Korean MMO created for eastern tastes its a waste of money. SWTOR seems that it will be an MMO very much in the vain of WoW merely with a Star Wars skin added to it, so it doesn't remotely interest me and anyway I'm not a Star Wars fan. Guild Wars 2 I don't suspect to be better than Guild Wars a game I personally found lacking. Rift has many interesting ideas that could forever alter the MMO market I merely hope they are able to accomplish everything the devs are trying and still give a polished finished product.

    I went with Guildwars 2!

This is because I know that if it is anything like GW1 than I will not be required to grind . .. Guildwars is a great game to play if I have under an hour to play and want to get something done during a short amount of time (unlike the game that I am currently playing). I will not have to stop playing my current game and can easily play it on the side.

<3 Guildwars. Best money that I have ever spent on a game. No way that it could be my primary game though . ... no death penalty and too instanced.

Guild Wars 2 for sure.  I loved the piss out of that game.

I'm excited for SW:TOR, even though I'm certain I wont last more than 3 months with it, if even that.

I love BioWare's stories, and I was engrossed in ME2 for weeks, DA:O for nearly a month. Story is BioWare's strongest suit, and that's something of a problem for MMOs...

You see, storylines end. It doesn't matter how great a storyline is. Once it's over, its over. You can go back through it, or see it from a different perspective, but you still know what the end result is, and that takes a lot of the magic out of it. BioWare's success or failure with SW:TOR will depend on how immersive the game world is *after* the story is over. If they can't keep us playing, then they can't keep us paying.

No developer has ever gotten endgame content up to par right off the bat, and I doubt SW:TOR will be any different in that regard. As such, I fully expect to enjoy the hell out of the game right up to the point where either the story ends or I have to raid in order to advance it further.

    OP, you fail =/

I'm waiting for XIV (keeping an eye out for GW2 too though). Poor PR aside, it looks and feels what I want an MMO to be like. Community and adventure for the win!

Some gamers merely don't like Final Fantasy. A Final Fantasy MMO isn't going to be under everyone's radar as being a game they want to play.

I'd say GW2 but I guess  the MMO part will be a huge dissapointment and I have he suspicion that this time the cash shop will bring a "sligthly" bigger impact on the game....sign me out.

so its nothing till war40k for me.

guess I can keep enjoying my retirement from this god damn awful MMO industry for another 2 years

Rift for me, that game is looking good so far. From what I've seen of it they've got a good atmosphere to it, too.

I'm mildly interested in SW:TOR but not as an MMO. Story doesn't belong in an MMO, it's just going to be another one of those Quest-Chain games where you go from one NPC to another, following the carrot on the stick. I've hated that style ever since it was created and it looks like SW:TOR is making it even worse. As it's Bioware I'm going to give it a chance, as I loved their Mass Effect games, but as an MMO I think it's going to fail horribly.

Lastly, Warhammer 40K needs to turn the brightness down. It's a very dark world and at the moment it's looking like a cheap Warcraft knock-off. They need to make it less cartoony and more dark and forboding before I go near it.

Fallen Earth, Fallout, The Secret World, and Earthrise (if Earthrise ever does actually materialize, seems like I've been waiting years for that one).  I might try AoC sooner or later, too.
