On the plus side I'm looking forward to knowing and meeting tons of new girls who REALLY ARE GIRLS.
Hey girls, once I know your first and last names I want you to know just how much I'm dying to meet you. Got the black book ready right now and once I've found your names from the WoWs forums I'll look you up on Facebook, maybe get your phone numbers addresses and email addresses. See ya soon. wear something skimpy. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:DD:D:D:D: ;D

@jestercool Well I am17 actually, I think my profile will show a diffrent age (not sure). And I live in the good old sunshine state.
Reason I am posting here is because they gave me a week ban on all my accounts for saying "no" to the idea. I been a member here since 07 and hardly ever post here (ignore this account).
/besidesthat
Its called MMORPG for a reason. This also kills RP servers and Role playing all together in the game. Surely you do know what mmorpg means. Come on, think lad!

But you won't be able to get into the forums to "browse" for your targets unless you agree to expose your name too! Oh my Mr. Nyxium! I hope you're a fast planner and a even faster traveler so you can get to all those wonderful girls before the cops come a kockin! Good Luck!

Sorry, but no. Again, you have a CHOICE. Suck it up and accept some responsibility here for your actions. YOU are accountable. Not some other scapegoat. Kills RP...please. First WoW is the LEAST RP type of game out there. Second, you still use your character names in game, its up to you whether you add anyone to the Real ID list. I use it for close friends only because we play on different servers. Now I can chat with them anytime and see where they are and vice versa and I won't feel guilty about playing on a separate server and never being able to talk to them. But again, ONLY if I add them to my REAL ID list, which again, I and THEY have a CHOICE to accept or not.
This is also off subject, as the argument here is about real names used in the WoW forums. Again, another CHOICE for people to make. don't want your name out there? Don't post.

Just 'cause I don't post on the forums doesn't mean I can't see who will. ;D Accounts got to be good for something. And it will be purely consensual I assure. The chloroform and all those tissues are for medicinal purposes and I have a note from my doctor, now where did I put that thing? The dungeon? Art, man, this is pure art of er, BDSM like you find in all the best medieval texts.
I don't really see this changing anything. You have to keep in that what you see on the forums is basically a minority of WoW players while most just play log-in and play, possibly even without knowing about the forums at all so it doesn't affect them anyway. All of this internet commotion is basically there for US, players who follow the game online and are more involved other than simply playing, most people won't know or care about it.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

I agree.
'No' means 'yes' in many cases, anyway.
I mean, it's gotta mean something that she was friendly ingame, right? Better find out how much.

This sort of reaction will have no major impact unless the reaction is catalyzed in magazines and ingame culture. Think Chuck Norris hehe.
Don't count the "damning" gaming public out too soon. They are so eager to sign up with the politicians and general public into proving to the world that the gaming masses are nothing more than violent prone, drug seeking, murderous puppets that we all know we reeeally are!
I can't wait to see the light and finally admit that I comb forums on a daily basis in hopes to finding my next stalking victim. Well if not me then it DEFINATELY is the guy either posting above me or below me. I mean the rate is about 2 out of 3 gamers are all potential creeps right? That would be 90% of the people all on this site right now!

Ah, the little teases. And for all the ingame girls who I managed to score with, and if I find out you were something you actually weren't, I will know your name and pay you a little visit too. I have an open mind but we'll have a little talk about what else you opened for me when I thought you were a girl. Like my zipper and belt.

Ah, but that's easily corrected with them, nothing that scissors and a quick snip can't fix. They wanted to play a girl? Here ya go, wish fulfilled.
Gotta say, the RealID also on forums may be a blessing in disguise.
It was already a piece of cake to find out that WoW-blue's address and phonenumber just via his first and last name, a little more effort and smart searching will even reach further. Heh, the personal things that people blab about ingame, on vent and on forums, very handy.
The new measures will be an era of public information nirwana, for anyone who wants to

It is not a good thing that personal data will be leaked on the internet..
But on the other side.. The trolls will stay away now and the flame wars will be over, cause now they are afraid people will know their actual name. Now the wow forums can be used again for what they were once build: to discuss, in a polite way.
Not a bad thing in my opinion. If it works than mmorpg.com forum should also implement this!

*splutter* Hang on.. did you just call me a creep??
edit: 2 out of 3 is 66.66666666666% , k those are better odds. Hopefully I'm not a creep anymore.
Blizzard has been going rotten since they merged with Activision, before that they were a well respected company on the same sort of level as Bioware etc.
They have just about ruined their reputation with this and that idiot in charge of Activision is probably blame. I can't see wow still being the number 1 MMORPG at the end of the year if they carry on with their world of facebookcraft plans.
There are a handful of people trying to defend it, but soon as someone asks "posts your name then" they go silent. Or they do and 10 mins later someone lists possible addresses, phone numbers and/or facebook accounts which might be theirs. They might not be the right ones, but that just means some innocent bystander who happens to have the same name is having their details posted on a public forum.
they sell a fantasy world, with pretend characters and pretend achievements, but incorporate it with real life with realID.
You may not think much of it now when youre an 18yr old young man. But if it shows up on a google search in 2010, it will show up on a google search in 2020.
at that time, your career as a young banker, prosecutor, politician whatever, might not be so blessed by your nerdy, indulgent, passionate posting on a gaming forum in your youth.
basically you will have to hope your prospect boss has a very open mind, in the case he decides to google your name and you are not a john smith.
Real life friends feature: by accepting a friend request, your real life name will be displayed to not only your friend, but to all of his real life friends as well lol! incredible. Basically if you smell the RealID feature, and tab into it, eventho you feel its in a very limited way, you have become a leaf on the tree...do not think just because you have shown prudence with who you accept to your Real life friend list, that your name will not trickle down through the system to many many more people whom you may not know even in the slightest.
The new terms of use is up now on battlenet, and it makes for some very interesting reading.
Somehow I don't think the small number of people who both
a) use the forum and
b) don't want their name being displayed
are going to kill the game if they quit over it.
Oh, so 21019(as of 9:46AM EST) people is a small number? Compared to 10-12 million it is but remember the post has only been up for 24 hours and 36 minutes. In the time it took me to log in to MMORPG.com and quote your reply, 3 new pages sprouted.
My problem with this is that Activision Blizzard will simply dismiss these people that don't want the change, not listening to them and going along with their plan anyway.
Quite a few people are posting over and over again.
When they were at 10000 posts, there were 7800 different accounts posted.

I still think its wrong, but seams most of the folks either don't know or dont care that blizzard is doing this to them.
