Anyone else having this issue? I know it's going to take forever to download the client, as everyone and their dog is trying to get it right now, but my main question, is this happening to anyone else?
I am able to log into my SE account with no troubles, and when I check my registered services the FFXIV Beta is there as well.

if people are having trouble logging into the beta site, it was doing the same to me yesterday, what i did to make it work was go to the beta log in site, dont log in, click on the SE account management system, it should open a new window or tab, log in to your account there, when you have logged in, leave it open and click on the tab with the beta log in... then log in it worked for me, hope this helps

My upload is far above the 100kb/s, but my download speeds are stuck between 0 and 30kb/s average.
Just stupid! They should let the client force kill itself, when people are a-holes and block their upload port(s)!!
Or maybe SqueEnix could stop being tight asses and offer a proper download for the bloody client? This P2P craze is getting obnoxious with all the companies out there not wanting to pay for their own bandwidth and forcing their customers to pay for the bandwidth it takes to let other players dl the client. I mean, how many seeders did they have for this, 2? Not to mention that torrents slow down my entire network for god knows what reason and I can barely even browse this forum while the FF download is running even though it's downloading at the staggering speed of 20 kbps or so. And yes, I followed the download optimizing directions on the beta website.
I'm on 75kb/s up and 25kb/s down atm and it keeps killing my net too so I gotta reset it now and again >.<

There doesn't appear to be a 'pause' button anywhere and the only thing to click is a cancel button. Does anyone know if hitting cancel will wipe everything I've already downloaded or can I start it again over night or something and have it pick up where I left off? Started downloading last night. It got to 55% and froze this afternoon.
Started again (from 0%) and its flying along at between 5kb and the heady heights of 30kb at times. My upload is constantly maxed and i have exactly 0.2% of the download complete.
I'll give it one more go but if it dosen't complete this time they can keep it quite frankly.
More than happy to test their game and give them feedback. But it helps some if i can actually aquire the game.
Well when my internet dies I reset it and the download resumes, no hassle at all from the download manager. But I do think there should be a paus button. It should really get saved along the way, I mean with this speed and no saving. Noones gonna get it down xD

Download was pretty quick on my end. Took a shower, had lunch and it was complete.
Just like with all p2p downloads, correct ports must be open to get best DL speeds.
That helps 95% of the time.
Perhaps, then, you could inform us average plebians how to attain such lofty speeds? The advice on the official site merely tells you how to enable UPnP and offers no information on which ports their download client uses and the client itself has no menues or options for optimization. The only thing you can do is hit a cancel button. I dont run a firewall and am perfectly able to forward ports on my router as I have done for many P2P applications, but without the vital information of what ports this thing is using, how am I supposed to DO that?

Oh well, just 33 more hours to go. all ports open and everything done as supposed to but still not breaking 95 kbs and averaging 20 (32% in 7 hours). If anyone has a direct download, it would be appreciated.

I got my invite for the beta last week. I downloaded and ran the PC benchmark tool: it wasn't pretty.
I'm in! But I'm already not interested =( I will give it a spin though and check things out. Maybe I'm totally wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.
