The immaturity in chat is shameful. I started playing this game because nothing else out there isn't what I wanted. I really like this game BUT all the little immature a$$hat$ in chat is disturbing. It's always about someone's mom or F... you F.. that. Another thing that sent me over the edge is how some people say "You're not a good gamer unless you know how to exploit.": I will be unsubscribing from this game... I don't want to be hanging out in a game being ruined by people on digital steroids.

Join a guild and turn global off. I haven't had global on for 6 months. Makes the game much more enjoyable.

Yup, I've never seen as much profanity and racism as I have in AoC.
Agreed woth OP. God, internet can really be a place for dumbass, but AoC is a new record.
I'd be curious as to which server that is, as Wiccana isn't that bad judging from the times I've paid attention to global.
(I'd go with the stereotype, if I had to guess, and say that the OP joined one of the PvP servers?)
What server are you playing on?
My experience is that PvP servers are usually worse than PvE ones, and US servers on average somewhat worse than EU ones.
From the comments of other posters in months past I understand that Wiccana and Set are generally pretty good - or at least ok - when it comes to community and global chat, Cimmeria is less but was reasonable from time to time and Tyranny (PvP) seemed to be the worst server when it comes to attitude in global chat and community.

This is what I do. After that the game is a lot more fun. Or you can go down the chat window and right click ignore the idiots who are spamming stupid stuff.

Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.
You shouldn't let what other people do that dont directly effect you stop you from enjoying life especially a game. Also there tons of people like this everywhere.
I recommend trying to make friends and play with them. It is a multi player game after all.
there people like that on this forum yet it doesnt stop you from posting. so I suggest you dont let them stop you from playing a game.
Edit: I like your slagon of long live DAOC. I hated the game ever sence buffbot started to be everywhere.

I don't pay much attention to the chat box at all unless I am in a group or hanging out with my guild. It seems silly to be upset about what is going on in global chat, it is probably the simplest feature of the entire game to ignore. On the rare occation I do see someone in global chat with a question and I can help, I will respond to them personally via tell. There is no reason to get involved in global chat at all if you'd rather not. I have yet to experience rudeness over a tell.
I haven't experienced a ton of impolite, rude posts on my PVE server, and when I have met people in the community by grouping everyone has been friendly and helpful.

There are several solutions:
1. Turn Global Chat off, and use a guild/friends chat instead.
2. Change Server and/or reroll. (PvP servers are the worst)
3. Kill them....

You guys were right. It is the PvP server. I know I can transfer servers but doesn't it cost $20 to do so? I really don't want to restart again when I'm lvl35 now.
Dump global and turn on Advice. You'll meet a whole different class of people that way.

It is a world of difference between the pvp and pve servers in this regard. But yeah, if you are going to stick with the pvp server the best thing you can do is turn of global chat.
Funcom GM's do nothing to help either if you report them. My sister who was 17 at the time received tells threatening to rape her, gut her with a knife and leave her bleeding to death in the gutter. Tells sent incidentally by a 35 year old man. Tells which persisted after she put him on ignore and he swapped toons to continue the abuse in much the same vein except worse.
What happened ? - absolutely nothing. Funcom did not a thing. So much for their zero tolerance policy regarding sexual harrassment and abuse. Fact is they are willing to allow abuse, exploits and cheating to retain what little subscriber base they have left.
Yes this imbecile knew she was a female, yes he knew she was a kid. Seems some men just cannot handle having their arse handed to them by a girl in pvp. Especially Zarx on FURY [EU] server.

I take it none of you have played WoW or Darkfall. Anyway, like others have said, global chat is completely unnecessary, and therefore a silly reason to leave a game.

R u serious? Level 35? You can get that back in a couple days of casual play. As far as your server choice, I've played on both pve and pvp servers... Still have toons on both types and the communities are definetly more mature than on the pvp servers.I'm actually pretty surprised by this post... Aoc has one of the most mature communities I've had the pleasure of being a part of. You will see people trolling global chat channels in every game that has them. Just find a good server and good guild and ignore global unless lfg.
Cimmeria was much better in terms of community than tyranny but alot of tyranny now plays on Cimmeria so yea. Don't forget when you hit level 50 you unlock a free level 50 so if you don't wanna lose your progress then IDE recommend hitting 50 then creating your free 50 on a server that suits u more

Yeah, FC doesn't seem to ban anyone who gives them money, so I guess your best bet is to isolate yourself from the playerbase by joining a guild and turning off chat channels. It's a great game, huh!
Yes John you are correct. I think Funcom wield a little more influence in these forums than people care to admit. However nothing I said was untrue. Funcom should have the chatlogs and the GM reports as proof of how this complete imbecile behaved.

I'm playing Fallen Earth. We have an all girl clan and are having a blast. I cannot speak highly enough of Icarus as a company. They are quite simply THE coolest bunch of devs on the planet. They actually play their game, understand PvP and cc's and how to create an interesting and superbly implemented crafting system. Yeah AoC has better graphics, and combos, but that's it. My sister isn't playing any mmo at the moment. She's 18 now, boy crazy and it's summertime.

What is this? Iam lvl 57 and have never seen a prompt to create a free lvl 50 character?

I believe you have to start the character creation process, and then it gives you the option to start at 50.
