Which MMO Will you try first, GW2 Or Rift Planes of Telara?

Truthfully, there the only 2 MMORPG's out there that i have any hope in.

FFXIV, SW:OP(is that right?), War40k, and Tera all look ...gimicky ...too me.. they smell like Fail.

Telara looks like TONS of customization (which i LOVE, being my first MMORPG was RuneScape lol)

But GW2 looks more.. polished and social. But what i hope does not happen is a extremely short campain, and little customization, like the origional Guild Wars.

So, here is a poll!

Which one are you more interested in/more likely to buy?

~Thanks for voting everyone image

Also, leave a  reply on your thoughts, i would love to hear from you all!

How can War40k and ffxi look like fail.  There is very little info for ffxi and far less for war40k.

I'm going to ignore your commentary and just focus on your question. I voted for GW2 because that is the one I am most interested in; however, if Rift: has an open beta or some such where I can just log in without having to purchase it, and that happens before GW2 is released (or has an open beta), then I would play that first. That said, I have no intentions of buying Rift: but I am going to buy GW2.

will properbly end up in RIFT on the long term, but am more hyped about GW2

SWTOR. However if I must pick one of the two you presented, GW2. Rift 'smells like fail' as you put it.

I am more excited for the "gimick" games you mention.

GW 2 will be like one only with a bigger lvl cap and voices.

and I could care less for TERA, So GW 2 I guess.

I don't care about innovation I care about fun.

I voted GW2 simply because it's free to play(except for the box price ofc). If it wasn't, playing it wouldn't even cross my mind, but now I'm seriously considering it. But it all depends on when it's actually released because the thing I'm waiting for most atm is SW:TOR (well TSW too, but that's some time away).

So if GW2's release in anywhere near SW:TOR's release, I will not be playing SW2. If there's a big enough gap, I'll probably pick it up to keep me occupied.

What I try first depends greatly on what I get access to first. I'm certainly more interest in gw2 this time round since it says it's a persistent world. The new star wars game is my best hope for something that actually doesn't die in a year, there is just too much talent being poured into it.

I'll probably try Telara first since it's probably going to have a beta before GW2 and be released first.  I'm pretty excited about both, but GW2 is a sure buy since I don't have to pay a subscription fee for it.

Will play both for sure, but I am more hyped about RIFT.

GW2 will be a new game, have you read about all the features?  GW2 will not be like GW1.

Yes, I have followed the game since it was announced, outside of the short time it takes to level (Which I hate) and the dynamic event system (I was let down when I found out they where not permanent) I have yet to see anything that impresses me. Also my family has always been poor until just recently so we never had a computer newer than 5 years so I don't give a shit about graphics and anyone who does can smoke my pole.

This selection is like that episode of South Park where the boys had to vote for their new school mascot, Giant Douche (GW 2) and Turd Sandwich (Rift).

Which i play first remains highly on release date...

But when you know the pricing of GW2 i will allways buy that game even if i like Telara a lot.

If Telara is released after GW2, FFXIV, SW:TOR and i love one of those games i might end up not buying Telara at all.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

    Rift, fuck ncsoft crap.

Fine, we'll compromise. I'll get my way & you'll find a way to be okay with that.

Depends on what comes out first.

Though, out of those choices, I'm most anxious for Guild Wars 2. Everything else seems... Meh.

I will play the one that comes out first first. I will play the one that comes out second, second.

FFXIV, because I'm not interested in GW2 nor Rift. Personal preferences. :3

I'll probably play first whichever one comes out first.  I'm not going to wait for GW 2 if Rifts is already out, or vice versa.  Which means I will probably play FFXIV first, as it is supposed to be released first.  And I personally like what I have seen of TERA, the combat looks not-boring.

  • LesaretLesaret Member UncommonPosts: 15

GW2 without a doubt, though both interest me greatly. GW2 just appears to be pushing the boundaries a little more then most modern MMO's.

  • charlionfirecharlionfire Member Posts: 166

Nice, you singled out the two MMOs I'm most anticipating myself.

Both seem really good on paper, although I am VERY hesitant to NCSoft as a publisher after being an Aion customer.

At the moment Rift: Planes of Telara is looking stupendously good.

  • ariestearieste Member UncommonPosts: 3,309

whichever is available to be tried first is the one i'll try first.  if by some cosmic miracle both game release playable trials on the same day, i'll probably try tera first as i have trouble trusting any MMO not using the traditional subscription model and a bunch of my eq2 guildies are going to be trying it too.

Yet you are still hyped about GW2 and Rift, lol

Voted GW2, Rift is just another game with WoW mechanics but a particularly interesting gimmick. GW2 will be fast food MMO but I see myself enjoying it for a month or two.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

GW2 definitely. ArenaNet products are of exceptional quality, except for the consistent lag issues in GW.

  • NephaeriusNephaerius Member UncommonPosts: 1,671

GW2 hands down.  I have faith in Anet they have delivered a great high quality product as well as expansions in the past.  Including frequent updates, skill balancing, and ingame events.  While it's still too early imo to tell how this game will play out, it has definitely piqued my interest

I'll wait & see how the initial player impressions turn out before making any decision.

    Interested in both though.
