Kingdom Reborn? Going to offically launch/re-launch game?

burdock2burdock2 Member UncommonPosts: 420

Just wondering,

The enhanced client is the Kingdom Reborn, correct? Will EA/Mythic ever re-release this when it goes out of BETA to the public again? Push for more subs, release gamecards/strategy guides and have everything (including the Stygian Abyss) in the one package? I would hope so and I for one would buy it (perhaps even a CE).

Perhaps for thier 13th Anniversary? Get it looking like Starcraft 2 and you would have a winner!

Heres hoping!

I kinda doubt they will re-release it because of how old it is but I guess you never know. I like how they were advertising the return of live events and some of the latest changes though. I returned recently and was surprised my old server is still very active (Pacific). I ran in to other players every few minutes at the least. I originally played from when it first released until around 2003, and still haven't found anything like it. Whether it ever has a re-launch or not, I was happy to see a handful of servers still active after all this time and EA Mythic still noticeably supporting it with updates and promotions. It's still my favorite MMO, so I might end up resubbing soon. It might have lost a lot of it's original charm through the Trammel/Felucca changes and some uncharacteristic updates, but the new UO is still closer to classic UO then anything else on the market (imagine that? lol). DF and MO can't touch it in depth or detail since it's based on 9 prior single-player RPGs (all of which I also loved).

As I understand it, the Kingdom Reborn client had some further work done on it and is now the Stygian Abyss "enhanced" client. The other 'classic' client is more like the original prior to the Third Dawn expansion when the first iteration of the 3D (enhanced) client released. So basically you have the classic client for all the people that didn't like the 3D client, then you have 3 stages of their improvements to the 'enhanced' client (Third Dawn--> Kingdom Reborn --> Stygian Abyss). So I am pretty sure when people say the KR client, they mean the current SA 'enhanced' client originally created in Third Dawn.

Having played both, I really like what they've done with the enhanced version graphically even though it could use some fine-tuning. The classic client is mostly how I remember it when I last played though. Either way, the graphics are dated so I think the classic client is the better choice to get the originally-designed experience. On the other hand, if you find the controls in the 'classic' client to be difficult to get used to, then the enhanced client has a more user-friendly UI and is probably the better choice.

Didn't know they put the client back into beta. Unless they are able to remove the stop and go animation I don't really see the point though. That was still there when KR came out. What good is a new interface if it doesn't actually fix any of the issues with how things move, etc.

The Enhanced Client is NOT the KR client. It's an updated UI with the original graphics in the legacy client. They had too many problems with KR and dumped it.
