Any way to fix the lag? (rubberbanding and teleporting constantly)

So I got a buddy key for the game a few days ago, and I've been trying the game out. It's fun, but the lag is unbearable. I'm constantly rubberbanding and teleporting all over the place, and it happens on a constant/random/frequent basis. It ends up making the game unplayable, because it makes driving harder than it already is, and rubberbanding/teleporting when I'm trying to kill someone who is already quite a few ranks/upgrades ahead of me is just impossible.

So is there anything that can be done to fix the lag?

Since the last patch I have seen some rubberbanding/teleporting.  Also textures slow to load at times.  I think it's on their end.

 

I'm especially leary of ladders since the patch.  I get stuck on them at the bottom, then get off and have trouble moving my character.  About 30 seconds later even if i have moved a considerable distancce off I have snapped back or teleported back to the ladder.  According to my friends, they still see me at the ladder and I'm just standing there.
