Jobs and Crafting

Hello. I am completely new to this series of games, both the MMO and the single player ones. So please don't take this as a troll post, cause i am really interested to know and honestly don't know anything. So here are my questions:

1. So far as i have understood this game uses the term "job" instead of the most usual "class", is that right?

2. What will be the available jobs and what is the theme around them?

3. You will be able to have more than 1 job? And if yes, what's the max amount of jobs you will be able to have? And is that simultaneously or you just switch between them?

4. Crafting is a job itself? I mean there are crafting jobs in the sense that they are better at crafting but worst at combat? If i am interested in crafting will i have to sacrifice combat skills?

Please enlighten me about all this stuff,

Thanks.

1- It was 'job' in FF-11 , now SE calling it 'class' in FF-14. some ppl still calling it 'Job' including myself _(^.^)_/

3- Your weapon determine your job. When you equip X-Weapon, you are Y-job :)

4- Yes, Blacksmith, goldsmith .. etc are job you lvl up.

3 - You will be able to have more than one class and combine skills from many of them on whatever "job" you want to play.

Let's say you choosed to be a blacksmith in the first place, then you will get extra "passive" skills that make you enfeeble the defense of iron / rock / scaled etc... type of monsters, by being able to make some precises "cracks" in their natural shells/armors by using some sort of "pickaxe" or "bec de corbin" skills, unbuffing mob, and then apply those "abilities" from this job, to another, let's say you wanna go for gladiator or lancer, you can add to your skill bar those enfeebling skills coming from blacksmithing / mining.

You can also add auto healing spells from other jobs, special "tp" moves from them too, and mix together a very "special" class, but you will more or less choose specific skills put together to make the greatest dps class, or tanking class later when you will have leveled up many jobs, you will be able to combine skills from 18 different jobs (with a limited amount of skills that can be added to your skillbar depending on how much "points" (skill room) you still have, let's say a skill uses 3 points to be added to your main job from another job, and in total you got like 40 to 50 pts at level max, so you can mix skills but will be limited by that.

4 - Nope, you won't be worst at combat if you choose to be a crafter first, it will just leads you in some case, to make yourself your own better weapons, and armors faster than any adventurer that choosed a warrior / mage class in the beginning, and as i said earlier, you will get passive skills that will make you stronger in front of certain "types" of monsters, i think botanist / alchemist etc... got their own "buffs" against nature / plants kind of mobs, and so on... Maybe you'll have to adapt your gameplay style and attack monsters fitting your passive skills, fighting shelled / rock / stone / metal kind of enemies can only lead you to loot usefull mats / items for your main crafting job, isn't it ?

Ah so from what i understood so far a character is able to learn (level) all jobs to the max which in turn unlocks the possibility to put skill points into various skills of all these jobs from a limited pool of skill points the character has available. And crafters get skills that are usable in combat too.

But i still have a couple of questions. Let's say i maxed Archer, Marauder, Thaumaturgist, Blacksmith and Botanist. And i pick skills from Archer, Marauder and Thaumaturgist. No Blacksmith or Botanist skill. Will i be a subpar crafter that way? Do i really need the Blacksmith and/or Botanist skills to do my crafting or these skills are just there for combat and my ability to be a good crafter is solely based on my progression in these two jobs?

Doesnt matter since you can change your skills at free will.Anytime Anywhere( other than inside a battle)

SE: "Currently you can cap every craft without limitations, but we are considering implementing some kind of restriction to avoid imbalanced in-game economy" etc. etc.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

this limitation on craft is only the produce skills? or the collect skills are limited by this too?

I would like them to limit a player to just 1 craft at max lvl... at least then u would have togo to someone else to get something crafted.. and in turn would make crafting more worth while.

I remember when i used to play FFXI , if i wanted somthing made for me , or some cursed armor i would go see this guy , he was well known on the server , and alot of people used to use him .
