My wife plays Farmtown on Facebook. So, using this logic I can sue Facebook for denying me my wife's attention because she might spend too much time on it. Sounds good. Where do I sign up?

Obsessive compulsive + addictive personality disorder. It's like gamblers sueing casino's for allowing them to play and lose everything.

Why blame yourself, if someone will allow you to blame others instead?

Truely sad times we live in *sigh*

More like he's curious what this guy has to actually say, he wants to hear it in person so he can then laugh in his face. As well as smash beer cans on his head while yelling NERDS..

The guy lives in Hawaii, a place that many beach loving ppl would kill to live in, gets addicted to a game to the point of suing it?

...go get a job u bum!

Hey here's another good idea... i can't go take a dump in toilets without a toilet sit, i've gotten addicted to sitting on them and can't function without them! So i's sue toilet sear makers!!! They must suffer for my misery!

    See?? Perfect toilet idea ;)

  • TerminatusTerminatus Member Posts: 104

Bleah, lots of typos on the Toilet Seat... guess typing many hours past midnight is not a good idea either :p

No no, my friends,  the true lulz will be had when he actually WINS this case,  then suddenly millions of players from a certain 'other' MMO start filing thier own lawsuits as well.

God bless America and its justice system.

didn't someone die when lineage 2 first came out because he spent like 3 days at a lan station not sleeping, or taking breaks?

That's rumored to have happened in Korea. But I never saw any "real" news regarding it.

What actually did happen was an interesting court case where a korean girl was found guilty of destroying virtual property (logged in and deleted his items) in a court of law and had to pay her ex-boyfriend a nice sum of money for it.

With that I agree... If it had happened to me she'd really be the first L2 related death lol.

TU2 Closed Beta Testing... looking very good so far :D

Suing any game company because of your poor life choices is just pathetic.

I respect people who wake up one day and say, "Woah. I need to get serious about my life." That respect is damaged when they try to save other people from wasting time, but I do get why people do that.

On the other hand, I have ZERO respect for people who turn around and blame THE GAME for their crappy lives. So this guy was happily playing along, his life totally absorbed in the game, and then they took that away from him with the bans on his accounts and he sues? No. He needs to take a shower, get a job, and find out in the real world what he was trying to get out of the game.

There's a FarmTown too. My FB friends who are boycotting Zynga play that one. I have this to say about Facebook apps in general-- for every game you can think of, there's another thousand just like it. (And sometimes they are the same damned game dressed up in a different theme: Vampire Wars, Mafia Wars... SAME DAMNED GAME! And I don't want invites from either. LOL)

Can I sue Facebook for mental distress caused by too many requests from lame apps? Anyone want to get in on that? I feel a class action lawsuit coming on.

Playing computer games excessive can damage your health.  Everyone knows that.

I myself have hurt my neck on more than one occasion.

In all reality, shouldn't he also sue Microsoft, if he does have that on his system, as well as anything involving typing.

You can make your back sore typing too.  So why not sue the computer maker?!

    Suing someone for addiction.

I play computer games because I find TV uninteresting.  Mostly I think it is garbage and holds no real apparent entertainment value for the brain.

If I worked 100% full time, which I actually feel I do, taking care of house, etc.  I would not be playing these game.

You have to know when to quite.  When to be on the computer and not be on the computer.

I do not like to be on the computer when I am in a bad mood.  Some people get their agressions out through games like WOW.  I am a casual player.

Addicted yes.  But I feel it is a controllable addiction.

Should I sue the cigarette companies because I am what I consider to be hopelessly addicted to nicotine?  When I am busy I do not smoke.

This guy may have a legitimate reason.

If something irritates a condition and it does harm, legal action for reprimends may be in order.

Sucks because the woman actually won that on a technicality - the coffee was supposedly way above the regular temperature, meaning she sustained worse burns on account of it. Still a stupid suit, though.

before bashing on the old woman who won the case you should look up the that mcdonalds case and see how wrong you just are and this is going to everyone who thinks some lady spilled coffee and won money,

in short , the lady ordered her normal coffee  and via an accident it did spill on her causing 3 degree burns on her inner thighs and vaginal area , 2nd degree burns in other places.  she won the case because  mdonalds was keeping their coffee at utterly high degrees to keep it hot (about 180 f or so)  since then md donalds has keep their temps at a moderate one and made sure their coffee cups have the cautioun sign.  when this hit the news even dunkin dougnuts took action on how they keep their coffee hot.

hate to say it but she had a case. and suffered big time. 3rd degree burns are nothing to mock about. wouldnt suprize me that alot of the earnings she got went to pay medical fees and laywer.

    now on topic.

The guy has a compulsive behavior he has some sort of mental illness as what he has been doing with his life is similar to what my brother has been doing and he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder , anxiety disorder and obbsessive disorders.  usually when a bipolar does get obssesive a good 70 +% of them tend to become addicts to somthing.  can go from drinking , gambling and even gaming.

dont think he has a case here. family should have been doing somthing about it especially when he started neglecting everything. he now wants somthing from nc soft because his accounts were banned, thus  wants revenge because somthing broke into his routine.  heck if he wins imagine the suits that will follow after. we might not even se an mmorpg antymore XD

Does this garbage really occur to the sane person, why did they even allow this crap to make a headline anywhere, the first time I heard this I thought it was fake but now I can't believe my eyes.  What's the next thing gonna be, someone suing the grocery store cuz the freezer isle is too cold, or maybe suing the car wash for cleaning the windows so well that too much sunlight gets in? C'mon man, I'm really starting to think stupid might actually be a disease or a mental condition.

I don't want to end up in court over really dumb unnecessary shit!!

I Will be in court soon guys because some moron is suing me over the fact that I really really did a superb job washing his car windows but by it being so fucking clean he got a serious sun burn because he fell to sleep in his car when it was 80 degree out!!.

OMG just found out he is suing his car company as well.

LOL. Besides the initial reaction of "wtf" to the lawsuit, that was my immediate thought. Of all the MMO's to get addicted to and sue over, this dude picked Lineage 2?

there is a kind of logic:People who develop, produce and distribute drugs are somewhat responsible. It is not yet proven tht games and computers are cyber-drugs, but increasingly we see that do not work well on people with weak characters. ;) May be better idea, peoples create test in hospitals "can i be a gamer " :)

Did anyone else read some of the other articles related to this? The moron claims that NCsoft banned his accounts so he would start playing Aion. You know, as opposed to the fact that he was selling his ingame stuff on Ebay.

I'm appalled that this guy wasn't laughed out of the court. I swear if he wins this case I'm going to fly down to hawaii and file a class-action lawsuit for tarnishing the reputation of gamers. Who's with me?

I'd totally sign on for that one. :)

What I wish would be enacted are Stupid Lawsuit laws. Essentially the idea is that, if you file an egregiously stupid, meaningless, time-wasting lawsuit and it's thrown out of court, YOU are then either: Required to pay ALL court costs; or arrested and thrown in jail.

Believe it or not, Arizona has a stupid motorist law for times of heavy rains. The state was getting dinged every time it rained in the desert because people would cross normally dry washes that were flooded despite signage that said not to. Then when they got stuck in the torrent, the state had to send in rescue squads, including helicopters, to get them out. Bottom line is that if you do that now, you get to pay the costs. It's amazing how many fewer incidents of this kind there are in Arizona now.

Sorry to say, people in this age have a lottery mentality and are looking for a way to make big bucks. They'll look for any excuse to sue. Pathetic, really.

Sweet, I just need about a thousand more and I might be able to make a case.

But seriously, this guy is a menace. I just pray that he has beeen too busy with L2 to fornicate and "Father" a couple children. Though I suppose he would probably try to sue the mother because the babies cry too often and detract his attention from his addiction.
