Need help with an addon...

Hey yall. I need help finding an addon I am looking for...

Description of the problem:

I do a lot of auctions, I have mastered most of the trade skills, except Engy (350ish) and leatherworking (315ish). So I sell a lot of goods. Now some goods are so low on profit that posting them in AH is a waste of money because of the high deposit amount. So, I have to manually advertise it in IF in trade channel. However, every time I log off, I lose the line with advertisement. Next day I log on I have to check the price and write a new ad. Is there a way to automate it? meaning something like Enchantrix, but for the items. I would set the price for the items, press the button, and it will advertise those items for me. Next time I log in, I just check the prices, correct them if necessary, press the button and it will advertise.

I don't think Auctioneer can do that. Any addon can do that? I hate vendoring level 70+ blues just because they are so common and the price of a deposit is too high that it would eat my profit completely.

I dunno auctionner is a pretty comprhensive addon. It has way more features then I ever used.

No there is no way to automate it though, blizzard won't allow any of that sort of thing.

 

IF you are really in need of checking the auction house, get the blizzard phone app for auctions.

I dont mean to automate it... bad choice of words, sorry. I meant to say to help me advertise outside AH. I dont want to sell level 70+ blue armor on AH because its very common so the profit margin is very small (1 gold, maybe 2 gold above vendor price) and the deposit for the item will eat any proft from it. All I want is to help me do this (assuming Trade chat is channel #2): /2 WTS [Boots of Destruction]10g. PST! I have about 10 such items, about 3-4 items fit per line. So if I were to do this manually, it would me a mess because in order to repeat advetisement, id have to do ALT+UP - this is very complicated to do if I keep chatting with people.

instead of vendoring lvl 70+ blues, why dont you just disenchant them and then use auctioneer to sell them in stacks abit lower then the competition?

just mentioning this since you said you had all tradeskills maxec (except enginering)

Enchanting materials that I get from them are priced cheaper then that...

Example:

	Tempered Saronite Bracers Binds when equipped Wrist Plate 873 Armor +27 Strength +30 Stamina Durability 45 / 45 Requires Level 77 Equip: Increases defense rating by +48 (9.8 at 80) Disenchanting requires Enchanting (325) Cost to make: 22 Gold 95 Silver Auction: 41 Gold 71 Silver Disenchant value: 7 Gold 43 Silver Sell Price: 4 38 Source: Recipe

I have a bunch of them as a byproduct of leveling blacksmithing. I can:

- try and sell it on AH paying 3.84 gold for a 48 auction;

- vendor it for 6.40 gold (thottbot says 4.38, but its wrong for some reason);

- disenchant it into a dream shard and sell it for (just checked prices, cheapest dream shard sells for 2.5g;

As you see, if I keep trying to sell this common item, I pay 3.84 every time. I do not think I will be able to sell it in 1 try, so if I tried and failed to sell it twice, I basically wasted that whole item! Bad business!

So, I try and sell this manually whenever I log into my mule. Problem is, I have to manually *click* on it to link it to chat, type in a price and post it. This does not sound too much. But take into account i have about 20 types of such items (products of leveling various tradeskills). Being a computer programmer, I try and find the most efficient way to solve a problem (sell this item). So far, manual advertisment is the most efficient way. But its also the most time consuming. I am trying to eliminate the time consuming part.

Unfortunately that is not the case... its the smallest value I get. Right now, best option is to just vendor it. Dang it, I hate vendoring blue BoEs! I will keep manually advertising...

untill I find the addon to help me post advertising links with 1 mouse click

Couldn't you just use a simple macro to post your message to the trade channel?

You can't do that easily. You can't link items in macros... thats what ive been told.

From my vague programming experience, you cannot macro the sales of various items in a manually controlled chat, but at the op: perhaps its possible to make a macro, that, whenever you for example shift-middlemouse-up click it, it would show up in trade chat as :for sale, undercut= cheapest on server atm, pm for price?  or something? am not that experienced a programmer, but i think that could be done?, quite curious myself now )

You know what?  As easy as it is to make gold in WoW now....I just used to vendor most of that crap I made, blue or not. I'd put a few on the AH, DE some for enchants, use those to make enchant scrolls to put on the AH, and then vendor the rest.

 

Seriously....money is like water in WoW (or it was for me).  Granted I did have max level crafters in every profession except for engineering (which my partner had), but still.

 

It's just not enough money to worry about.  DEing and making enchant scrolls is probably the best way to make money with it, in my opinion, but...you know....divide it up into thirds, put 1/3 on the broker, vend a third, DE a third, make enchant scrolls, throw those up on the broker and call it good.

 

Also...I never ever listed anything for max time more than twice. And even at that....like you said....you have to consider the possibility of losing your auction fee if it doesn't sell.  If it doesn't sell when it's listed during the week OR re-listed on the weekend....chances are, it's not going to sell.  Don't waste you money by re-listing repeatedly.

An addon that basically does what Enchantrix does for enchants, sounds like what you're looking for and....sadly....I don't know of one. But I've been away from the game since February.

Cata is coming, prices of everything is falling.

Even the mark for 264 gear draws no bid in a gdkp, not even 500g..

Right now, nothing sells well.  Everyone is waiting on cata and see what will be there.

If your goal is just profit, have you considered that the time you spend sitting in trade chat trying to secure small margins on these items could be better spent simply farming some gold in the world? Your character (or the most powerful character you own) has some amount of gold/hour that it can earn just by slaughtering npcs. If the amount you average over time from the sale of items in trade chat is less, well, it's hardly worth trying to do small things to optimize it.

I never sold low-margin items in trade chat for this reason. It wasn't a fun activity for me on its own and the profit was less than farming. Of course, if it is fun for you, that's all the reward you need.

I can't say I'm aware of any mod that does this, but it should be a fairly easy thing to write if you're inclined. I haven't worked on mods since I quit the game but IIRC auctioneer, after scanning the AH, would keep a local database of the item prices. It should be easy to scan, and generate the chat message with the item name and last-scanned AH price (modified by whatever markup rules you want).

If you can't or won't write it yourself you might be able to petition (or comission) someone to do it for you. It seems a simple thing.

nclow, this is why we miss the good old days of gaming when crafting was tedious, hard, and even down right nobody wanted to do it it was so hard/tedious.  but the crafted items were good, sometimes the best you could get, definitely worth having until you got that ultra rare better bind on pickup drop, so crafters were gods, you found yourself befriending them, asking if you could help them out, finding materials and offering glorious amounts of money for their services.  now crafting is meh, too easy, everyone does it, theres not 10 people on the server that mastered the trade anymore, now theres thousands!

I like the process of doing business. Its a challenge for me to get maximum profit for an item. Sure, vendoring works, but theres no fun and no challenge in it.

Not trying to macro the actual sales, just the viewing/advertising. If i had 50 items for sale and I don't want to put the on AH, nor do I want to spam trade chan with all 50 in 15 lines. I would have to do it in 1 line at a time, with 1 minute delay between them so that people do not ignore me for spam. Only 3-4 items can fit in 1 line, so 50 items= 15-20 lines.

Not just any profit, its the maximum profit. De-enchanting blue items just does not work to maximize profit.

I disagree here, I sell gems everyday, yesterday, I sold around 2 stacks of gems, 2 pieces of craftable armor (that I couldn't sell for a week) and 1 bag. It was a good day for me

IF you wanna make a fortune go and farm SM for wool and silk... loads of people rerolling looking to power level their professions when cata us released... but your original issue.. can't help.
