Simply because there is very little, to no developer interaction. Korean products are made with the Korean players in mind, and often times when a game is "westernised" it just means that the dialogue or character models are slightly changed. This is not my idea of changing the game to the unique wants of the western market. A perfect example of this is Aion. It was "westernised"...but all they really did was change the quest dialogue and a few other minor tweaks. Simply put, if the developers of the game we are playing is located in Korea, our wants and concerns are of very little importance to them as long as they are making their main market happy.
As much as we bitch and moan about our western games (WoW, Everquest 2, etc..), at least we know that the developers are looking through our message boards and changing the game to fit the wants of the community. Often times a little too much such is the case with WoW..but at least we have the devs here listening to us as opposed to a Community Manager who will then pass this on to the Korean developers who will then shrug it off 90% of the time. Even if it does get through, expect months and months before something as simple as a bug fix is implemented. Who cares about those darn westerners anyways? In Everquest 2 for example, you have constant developer communication on the message boards and at least you KNOW that they are reading the positives and or negatives. They will once in a while implement little tweaks and content at the suggestion of the community.
I know Aion gets alot of flack for having horrible NC management but in my opinion it is not that the NCWEST management isn't doing enough, it's that they are limited with having VERY VERY little developmental tools and are comepletely restricted by their Korean developers in what they can or cannot do or how fast something can be done.
Let's face it; playing a Korean game is like trying to have a conversation with someone through a wall. Some of what you are saying may get through, but for the most part your word goes unheard unless you get to the other side of that wall.

I learned my lesson with Archlord.
why is "again" part of the topic?
ROFL, I don't want developers to look through messages boards and alter the game. Message boards do not accurately represent a player base.
As well WoW has more Eastern gamers than it does western gamers, so what's this difference between the two you're talking about?
He probably played Aion from the sounds of it.

I completely agree! I hate Korean games, mostly due to the fact that.. well they are all pretty much the same.. grinding... cash shop... pay to win, and they come out in the masses! There are soooo many Korean games that come out all the time! Aion was the best one they've come out with, and it still was grindy, and fell short of expectations.
America does it best, have to say ;P
There is a unwritten rule: Never play what you don't like, imagine everyone making all sorts of opinions as to why they don't like something.......oh oops, seems populair these day's....sorry.
Arnt they from Sweden?
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
I agree with the OP but not completely. All I want is for the developers to read the suggestions in their forums. That section was put there for a reason and not be ignored.
The only Korean game that is going to even care about a western audience is TERA. Bluehole seen the problems that NCsoft had with Aion in the west and its why they made En Masse to change TERA for westerners. Even before the game is done being developed in Korea, En Masse has been working on making more and more quests for the game so westerners have plenty of things to do for the game. Adding achievements and changing the UI based on the western audiences FGT suggestions was a shock to see they actually did something we want. So we can keep hope that they will continue to listen to us.
pffft Tera... look at how the character controls in Tera. A MAJOR gamebreaker for me is when the character runs on diagnols it makes the movement looks so unnatural and twitchy epescially when running from side to side (see latest videos for example). If they can't even adopt a more westernized approach to character control how the hell are they gonna keep the grind from creeping in.
I bet the same people that bought into the Aion hype are expecting Tera to be the one that breaks free of its Korean roots (ahem Aion all over again)... it ain't happening and I feel really sorry for you people.
Well, if you had extensive experiene with Korean mmo's you would know that Aion was VERY different from games such as Lineage 2 or Sword of the New world or Archlord.
Did it still have things like the randomness in crafting or extremely small drop rate? Sure. But no like other Korean games.
Compare Lineage 2 or Archlord of Sword of the New World to Aion and there are huge differences.

Funny that you say this because I feel the same way, as a matter of fact I will not play a MMO that does not have a American Mind set, not because the others are bad but because they can not connect with American standards, I can Play Euro made games because the standards of Sci Fi or Fantasy are the same.
Asian MMOs have a hard time connecting with what I like to call Fanatasy or Sci Fi, not that Its bad so please don't read into It, just that the Western Mind and our way of living and what we call enjoyment revolves around Democracy as a way of life and (MOST) Asian mind sets revolves around a different political structure altering what the people call enjoyment.
Aion was the last Asian MMO that I have played and I guess "Aion was the straw that broke the camels back"
