I have been downloading for 8 hours and I am at 7.2% of the first of seven files. The upload is going much faster than the download, surprise surprise.... This is brutle, I hope by tomorrow morning I have better results.
Yeah, their torrent seems really pathetic - I let it run all night the first night and it got to about 80%. Re-started the next day and since then, through many hours of attempts, it's now up to 88% - on 1 of 7. Not worth it.
Besides - it looks like they've decided the "open" beta is closed now - suspended issuing registration codes.
I might try back again in a few days to see if some of this is due to massive "me first" wave of people or something - not sure how much effort I'll give it though, given some of the discussion in other forums about it having some seriously unfriendly UI for mouse/keyboard users. I'm not getting a console pad for a beta trial. (that's presuming they even open up the beta again and start issuing more registration keys.)

i am too, 28ish local connections but no DL at all, at 94.8% with (one second) remaining according to the launcher timer (it's been one second for over an hour)

How are you all even getting to the download... I can't even retrieve my key, It just tells me "Applications for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test have been temporarily suspended. Please wait until we are ready to accept new applications and then try again." I've been trying to get Into the beta page since open beta started and It's said this too me since the first day..Any help?
Don't give up. Keep trying. I missed out on the first round, but I kept trying every 30 min - 1 hour until yesterday when I came home from work I went to my computer and *bam* first try I got my registration code and logged in. So, I imagine they are only giving out a certain number each day so don't give up.
Well I got the beta downloaded and I can log in, but I can't move out of a 50 yard circle. it says leaving instance and I reset back to where I started, nice.

could someone pls advice a newbie, how can i advance goldsmith class? i bought a goldsmith tool (hammer), but i dont have single skill or recipe. i did figured out recipe for smelting copper (thats fairly obvious), but it need a skill which costs 5000 guild marks, which I of course dont have.
I managed to log in to my account trough the client, but I cannot log on to the beta website. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, how long is the maintenance?

how do you even get a code. i found an open beta registration link, but now it says its broke DX how do i get to that page manually?

Hey guys I am having a very odd issue with the open beta, lol let me explain.
I have my SE account and everything is activated via the account management page FFXIV service activated etc.
I have the beta downloaded and installed "already tried uninstall reinstall several times"
I also have contacted SE waiting to hear back but not holding my breath lol.
This is the issue
Launcher pops up, I enter my information, I click login
"nothing" it just sits there like its not taking the log in i get no error messages or anything just nothing lol
it just sits there I even clicked log in and let it sit for 25 mins lol "i have a higher end PC" so its not that
Im using firefox as my web browser "i doubt it has anything to do with it but just exp;loring all possibilities"

Im running windows 7 crossfired 5850's with a 3.0 I7 920 processor
