But obviously this topic starter is jus a kid who cant understand basic economics Is it so hard to understand that money coming from NPCs is *APPEARING FROM NOWHERE*? So if someone is able to obtain large amounts of things (fish botters, speed hackers, etc), they will most likely, sell them to NPC so they can get back out there QUICKLY to repeat another run. This money is coming from NOWHERE, n it is now FLOODING the market. In return, the worth of a dollar goes DOWN, n prices of things go UP. *THIS* DIRECTLY AFFECTS YOU N EVERY OTHER LEGIT PERSON PLAYING THE GAME. Can I make it any simpler? It has nth to do with jealousy, or someone "affecting my gameplay" by being high lvl than me. It has to do with ppl like this flooding the market n making prices of things that legit players need, go up, while we no longer have an adequate source of income, compaired to *not* legit players.
Again I am not talking about that at all.
In all the games with screwed Economy actually happened because people with TOO much time on thier hands that PLAY too much and with the most patience actually Ruins it. Not speed hacking.
You both make it sound like everyone started at the same time.
there are 100,000 of players.
scaling from 1-60 all progressing at thier OWN speed.
I am not talking about Bots that let you FISh for hours and horus even when you are not at your keyboard.
I am talking about PowerLeveling yourself really fast.
Come on. Someone made it to Level 60 in 10 DAYS. LEGALLY
With that kind of Persistence he can DESTROY your so called Economy and you are worried about someone trying to get to level 40-50 VERy fast so he can see some of the high level monsters.
Come on.
I think you guys are giving side effects that LEGAL players ALSO do that you claim are only being caused by Speedhackers.
think of it this way.
"People who do steroids will get roid rage and start fights at bars, so Steroids should be completly banned"
OK
well that logis is flawed cause even NON steroid freaks start fights in bars.
"If some oranges are appled and some apples are pear.. not all oranges are pears"
let me break down the question a little most specifically.
"What if I wanted to use a CODE. That let me Automatiaclly jump my characters level from 1 to 60 without killing one monster. it was a instant jump. No new Items or gold or anything."
Is that wrong?
I will only be one of the MANY MANY hundred level 60s in a few weeks,
Explain to me how this is putting me on a different level then them?
Cause they worked for it?
Ok
Because I didn't work for it, HOW does that effect you?
BTW I am 29 years old
I have played, Muds, Ultima Online, EverQuest, Asherons Call 1 and 2, FFXI, ShadowBane, Anarchy Online, Miridian, Fung Wan Online, Ragnarok, Fairy Land, The Saga of Ryzom, Lineage II, Priston Tale, Monster and Me, Knight Online, NeoCron 2, planet Side, Project Entropia, Rubies of EvenTide, Tibia, and World of Warcraft beta and SWG
I know my MMORPGs and I have NEVER EVER seen a case where a Cheater messed the economy up, it was ALWAYS the lagit time spenders.

Speed hacking does not = power lvling. Power lvling is still limited to a character's abilities. Speed hacking is beyond a legit character's highest abilities. It is in NO WAY the same.

Very poor analogy there friend. Similiar to saying that one should never prosecute a criminal for breaking the law because even law abiding citizens occassionally run a red light. No..seriously, makes no sense. Now as to your point...
Power leveling where all you invest is your time to attention to get to the top level as fast as possible is fine and there's nothing wrong with it....provided that the game does not allow the spoils of such adventures to be shared with anyone of a lesser level (within a narrow margin at best) and provided that the gains such a higher level character acquires does not tap things that lower level characters need to continue their game play. In most fantasy MMOGs this is not the case, you do not exist in a private little world where your accomplishments are nothign more than a personal expierence and visuals for others to look at.
An example of "speed leveling" not affecting anyone else would be CoH. In that game, someone hitting level 50 in a day wouldn't impact me taking a year to hit the same level in the slightest bit. At the worst (debatible) it would rob me of their company since our characters couldn't adventure together. The worst part would be if they had a ambush hit them and they leave behind mobs in a lowbie zone (which happened). If these mobs don't eventually dissappear, then it too would negatively impact on the other players. The point with CoH is there is no loot, no player economy, nothing beyond bragging rights really.
In virtually all other MMOGs however, who follow traditional conventions, it does impact on others. Most of this is a indirect impact, several points have been mentioned, but you're intent upon being glib towards them. A direct impact depends on what the actual player does with his high level toon.
Just for the record: I could care less how fast someone gets to level X over me. If their life is built to where they have that much free time and that's how they wish to burn their time on this earth, that's their choice. If it does directly affect me too much then I take time to consider how much this costs me my enjoyment factor and I move on if it proves beyond a certain tolerance. For I do have a life, I do have other things to do and my recreation time must be of a certain quality or I do something else with it. The only person who is then impacted by my decision are those who have a paycheck that is affected by my subscription.

OK.. but then answer my simplified question then.. If I can get a CODE to JUST level me instantly. Would that be as bad?

Well seeker I understand your point and you seem to kind of see where I am coming from.
Some game out there that are done WELL, you wont see too much of a hit.
GW isn't even level based really. 1-20 and then BAM.
