It is not the game *I* have wanted or waited for. It has absolutely nothing that I have been waiting for.

Still, if others enjoy it, they should be allowed to without having others "spit on this nice game"

But please don't think this is what WE have all been waiting for.

Those spit on this game aren't just simple players.  There are special interest groups (developers, game store owners, marketing etc.)  roaming at this site.  They worry about their jobs and competitions.  A few are closet racists acting like they hate F2P but if they are forced, they'd tell you to play any crappy western F2P over good non-western ones.

So as long as you're happy with your game, why worry about others' opinions?  Games with new & nice features always help pushing the grenre ahead, and real game players would welcome them.

    Omg wow.... man I been wanting to say that for months, it is good to know someone else thinks the same as me, just did not know how to put it in words correctly. I wanted to always say something like ( I feel that most of the members on this site are not even full time gamers, the way they post about things related to games seem more like a business wise attitude) granting what you post;

That is also how I feel about all the "WoW clone remarks" I feel it be Blizzard them self having a kick out of it, and there way to grab a new subscriber quick.

So is it because it is from South Korea or you few thinks the MT will be bad (P2W) from doing some research the item shop is just makeup and stuff, you cannot pay to win in Vindictus. Or, because South Korea is on another level in making these type of MMORPG/MMOG and most Americans not liking that "fact" wth is the deal seriously? This a damn shame, that the people like the OP, title this game a MMO, when it isnt a MMO at all.

Next thing you know, people will be calling other games with Online connection requirements, a MMO as wll, simply for the Internet requirment alone. Lame!!!!

and now the OP, gets mad when people bash this non MMO, in a MMO review, after the OP calls the game a MMO his/herself in which it isnt.

Next thing you know, even games without Internet requirement will be called MMOs.

I said MMOG "massively Multiplayer online game" A massively multiplayer online game is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously and feature at least one persistent world. MMOGs can enable players to cooperate and compete with each other on a large scale, and sometimes to interact meaningfully with people around the world.

MMORPG even tho they are very similar. MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player RPGs by the number of players and by the game's persistent world, which continues to exist and evolve while the player is away from the game. players assume the role of a character  (often in a fantasy world) and take control over many of that character's actions.

Although I like the game, very very much. I'm guessing the reason people don't like it is because of the non-interactive NPCs, which makes the towns look deserted if no one is there. The fact it isn't an RPG, the lag that -some- players get, or they just dont like it plain and simple.

The Fiona class does get boring after a while if you dont get special abilities.

Oh, and whats SMDH that expo said?

This game does not have a persistent world. I know that the definitions of this may vary, but nothing you do as a character is actually pertinent, or has impact, upon the world itself. And I use "world" loosely, because what this really is, is a town that functions as a player hub which is also split into servers. So, what you're getting isn't actually massive at all, it's just an online game with an instanced hub to support the multiple players at one time. If they had actually given this game a world, you know, with forests, and mountains, and multiple cities that are actually connected and can be traveled between, I think more people would be willing to look at this in the light of an MMO, and not just an Online Game, because there's nothing massive about it.

It's not an MMORPG, and certainly not an MMO that I've been waiting for.  All it offers is combat, and no matter how well done it is, it always boils down to the best combination of key strokes.  No thanks.  Been there and done that for 15 years.  Virtual worlds with some depth and variety please.

I'm sure some will find the game fun, but it's a bit shallow for me. It has 2 classes (maybe 3 at release) which are gender locked...and that's a gamebreaker for me, regardless of how good the game is, I can't get into playing a female character. Tried it...doesn't work. Heavy instancing will also drive me batty. I don't mind instances, but when that's all it is...ya. Oh, AND it's F2P. I'll pass thanks.

It bugs me that so many americans seem to just automatically assume that everyone else is also american

People are correct this is not a MMO it is more akin to the Diablo series as a Action RPG that is playable in small groups online. However it is a fun game in small doses.I say small doses because you are required to grind the same dungeons over and over to get drops for gear and poitns to up your skills and gets repetitive quick in long play sessions.

The lag that people experienc enow and then is not a fautl of the game but dependent on who is hosting the dungeon(the group leader) and their connection.I beleive most of the bad lag sessions people experience are from groupign with people from Europe and other coutnries far from the intended territory who have used proxy servers to bypass the region lock.

I just want to be clear. You actually believe that? Really?

So you think this site which, according to the top of the page, has over 1 million members, is made up of a lot of game store owners, game marketers, and game developers? You do realize how utterly insane that sounds right?

First off how many video game store owners are there in the world who speak English (since this is an English speaking site)? I would guess less then a thousand for sure.

How many game marketting people exist in the world who speak English? Again probably less then a thousand.

How many MMO game developers (since this site is focused on MMOs) in the world who speak English? Less then 5 thousand?

So the fact that a lot of people on this site, which has 1.3 million members, don't like this game is because of the 7 thousand people in fields that you listed all utterly fear this game will dominate the market and hurt their income? Seriously?

And the rest of the people who don't like the game are closet racists? You think there are that many people out there who hate Asians enough to become members at MMORPG.com to make hate posts and lower the hype on Asian games? Really?

I've got to say, your mind is truly interesting. I would love to get to understand how you came to that level of consipiracy thinking purely out of extreme curiosity.

BTW I don't play F2P games, even if they are made in the west. It isn't a style of gaming I like to be involved in.

It doesn't have anything to do with "liking" the game. It's fine for what it is, but it certainly isn't an MMO, which I think most of this discussion stems from.

Only thing I didn't like is the instances are hosted by the leader of the group. So if I start a team to go do an instance, they are all running off of my bandwidth. And with a monthly bandwidth cap, it just isn't worth it to me to "waste" it hosting others.

FYI: This is why you will have smooth instances with one group and laggy instances with another. Everything depend on the host players PC and bandwidth.

so basically its a broadband only game, not that many use dial up these days.. but if your connection is throttled for any reason (multiple users etc) then the game is going to run like a dog.. its an odd choice really, and its only a matter of time before its exploited by hackers..

It's basically a big LAN game. The only real "server" is for the town.

And more than likely, there will be hacks and such soon. And with "matches" hosted by player PC's, yeah, it's gonna be hard to control 'em.

vindictus is a good F2P game for the times your bored with your main MMO IMO. but the reason i'm not in love with the game is because they really didn't do anything great at all.  they took some dynasty warriors button mashing, mixed it with some lame RPG elements, and threw it in a lobby.  people keep saying how amazing the game is, but if you think about it it's really not all that amazing.

if the game had actual combos and different attacks mixed with real RPG elements (not just stats and levels) all in a open, persistant world, i would love the game.  but it's not.  and yes i know it's F2P, that's why i didn't expect any of this and i say it's a good game for a F2P.  i'm hoping Tera will provide all this.

  • Johnchief117Johnchief117 Member Posts: 19

Here is why I dont like it:

I waited years for Vindictus to come out. When it finally comes out, I had trouble installing and patching it (took me a week to install and patch). Then I FINALLY PATCHED THE GAME, but it crashed my computer when I lowered the settings to the lowest. Then I restarted it and it worked fine and let me make my character, but as soon as I start the game, I get kicked off due to "Having an unauthorized program" :/ Ever since then, if I ever started Vindictus, it crashed my computer.

    Biggest disappointment in my life!

This is a fine online game, quit expecting the second coming of Christ. It's not going to happen for *any* game.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Online RPG's get labeled as "MMORPG's" and it is confusing as hell.

The game is no proper MMO. It is a very good game, but goddamn it, it is not an MMORPG.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Hey, thats cool, glad you found what you want, but I am not 'waiting' on this.  I also don't think TERA looks all that great....Before ya cry WoW, I only beta'd it and didn't like it either.

I like more depth, but its good that more options are out there for people, but sorry were not a hater, if we don't like your game, as what we are waiting on.

  • DirkzenDirkzen Member Posts: 144

If a game is 'too much' like WoW,  people around here will bitch and complain about it.

If a game isn't 'enough' like WoW, people around here will bitch and complain about it.

If a game is F2P...  well, you get the point.

No matter how much you love a certain game, there will 'always' be people right behind you griping about the very things you love about it.

Some complaints may be legitimate, some may be trolls.

There will never be a single game released, ever, that 'everyone' likes.
