...and my performance is really low, even on the lowest graphical settings. My PC is about 3 years old and it's not really anything special by todays standards, but even with all of the fancy graphics options turned off/down to low, I'm barely achieving 20 fps in that Limsa Lominsa place. The game is also stuttering all of the time, and the NPCs and player models are always slow to load on the screen. I was just wondering, is this normal?
I mean, I thought that my performance would be higher than this, since I scored a 3.5k on the benchmark...
[3000-4499] Fairly High Performance Capable of running the game on default settings. Consider switching to a higher resolution depending on performance.
I'm not even sure what the "default" settings are, since everything in the graphical options menu was automatically put on to the high/highest settings (which brought my PC down to its knees when I got in to the game).

You scored higher than me on both my resolution benchmarks... And every peice of hardware I have is better than yours. 5770, q6600, 8gig... Shows how accurate the shitty benchmark is.
I am not playing FF yet but my opinion is that you could use another 2gb RAM and upgrade your video card to something a step or 2 above the 8800.
Maybe a 5750 or somthing along those lines.
Just a suggestion. Good luck and I hope your problem gets fixed.
My PC scored 450 on the high res benchmark and 1200-1300 o the low. I am running the game fine at med/high settings.
My PC has gotten three scores: one at about 400 one at 2500 and one just over 3000.

Still not having any luck. I tried putting that buffer size thing down to a quarter (the game was unplayable with this setting, but I just wanted to see how it would run), but it still ran very badly.
Also, unfortunately, with the OC on my CPU, I can't add anymore RAM. If I do, the OC become unstable. It doesn't really matter though, since on the lowest settings, my RAM usage only goes up to 1.1GB.
You are dual booting. Have you tried installing to both OS(s)?
And are your vid drivers current?
Yeah, I've tried running it on both 7 and XP, and the performance is about the same. My drivers are also current for my GPU, my chipset, my BIOS, and my sound device. I also have the latest physx software and DirectX as well.
man your rig is lower than my laptop.Lol.
You better buy a new pc.
My laptop cant run this game even at low.
Also your shaders are very low i think
Hopefuly im getting an xtreme rig in few days cause my laptop cant play anything now.
You aren't runnng it over a wireless connecton, correct? I only ask because a friend tried it....
Nope, my PC is hooked up directly to my modem.
Gonna rape the ram from another pc and install it while I'm putting in the new gfx card,..
Yeah, I tried allowing anything with the words "FFXIV" in it through both my firewall and AV, afterwhich, I went ahead and disabled both my firewall and AV after adding exceptions for both of them (just to be sure they don't cause any problems).
YOu have 2 OS(s) so I assume 2 seperate partitions. Adequate free space and room for a large pagefile on each?
Two separate hard drives, actually. Windows 7 is on my 640GB HD, and and XP is on my 250GB HD. There's also enough free space on both of them.
Minimum requirements say a gforce 9600 or higher. I believe this is the problem.
You're being held back by a) your video card, and b) only 2 gb ram.
I basically have your system with 4 gigs of RAM instead of 2. The benchmark scored me at 1150.
I have no clue how you got that high on the benchmark with your system.
Was that on high or low? Because my 3.5k score was on low (couldn't even run high, since my monitor doesn't support the high res).
The 8800 GTS 512 is more high-end than the 9600. From what I understand, its performance is more close to the 9800GTX. I also have it OC'd as well.
Video card, maybe, but not my RAM. My RAM usage is peaking at 1.1GB in the crowded parts of Limsa Lominsa.
Like others have said, you need more memory and a better video card.
There is no way that you should have gotten a 3500 even on low with that PC. I dont know what was up with that.
I'm finding that the retail client has far better optimization than the beta. I can run it with 16x and AO on now, and wow. It looks.. ridiculous.
