Yes, but I never remember what their names were. If I couldn't figure out the control scheme or just didn't like it than it wasn't worth playing. And if it isn't worth playing, it isn't worth remembering.

AOC = I hated the combo system, it was sluggish and not as responsive as it should be. it's not huge but there is that like half a second delay of when you hit the button and it actually registers.
WAR- Same reason that same sluggish like half a second delay.
Coming from games like lineage 2 and WoW, when you hit a button it registers instantly! Seems like such an obvious thing to polish in your game but still a lot of mmo's are released like that. In all honesty I think games that do this prove that such a meaningful aspect for a game cannot be overlooked.
All the time. Just like a car, if I don't like how it drives I won't buy it. I move onto the car/game that feels right.
Hence my frustration with many titles SUPPOSED to be incredible games, like AC1, EQ1, Ultima Online, Assassin's Creed, Horizons, many FPSs, almost every 3rd person shooter.
Every one of these has been touted as "great" games yet when I went to play them, I couldn't stomach trying to fight my keyboard/controller just to get anywhere.
I also think this is the NUMBER ONE reason World of Warcraft is as popular as it is. The controls in that game are the smoothest and most interactive, visceral of any MMO I've ever played making it a sweet ride, at least control wise.

Totally agree with this statement, I believe that is one of the biggest reasons most post WoW mmo's haven't done that great in comparison.
i just did..i just quit FF XIV , yes i know most of you are going to say it's only been 2 days...i say so what i know when controls are not going to work for me so why prolong it.

Maybe you didn't like the UI? FWIW that's not a control issue... While I enjoy the UI, I understand others may not want to put forth the effort to learn a user interface that's different from the MMO norm.
I mean... the basic character movement controls in FF14 are WASD + mouse... just like any other MMO. Mouse controls targetting, camera rotation, and character movement (to a lesser degree)... just like any other MMO. The majority of other keyboard commands can be re-mapped to your liking.

Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
Absolutely. I love fast paced games. Odd to say for someone who likes MMO's right? Let's just say if I can pick the game up in less then thirty seconds; I love it. One of the things that can ruin a MMO for me is having to 'hunt-and-peck'. Although I know where all my keys are. I'm not used to the menu's or combat system, I get bored quick. Then it's off to Halo.
Yes I have lol. name? Erebus: Travia Reborn. The controls for closed beta testing were very old fashioned and there was only one camera view which made things difficult to move around. I'm hoping obt/release will bring more options because I think alot of players complained about it
Yes, I've quit over controls. I don't recall the name but it was a F2P. It had a bizzare variant of ASWD and click to move. I got stuck in a vendor's booth in the first 5 minutes of playing. Logged, uninstalled... played something else.

I game with a laptop and as such use a touch pad to play. So games like Vindicitus that have wide turns and especially mouse turn I usually have to hang it up on.
yeah FFXI when i tried it years ago, the controls was just retarded to even move around, i think it was the number pad keys to move ot something? and at the time (as far as i could see) there was no way to change them. i wished i had a controller at the time to give it a try back then. because i seriously played maybe 5 min if that before i got frustrated and logged out and uninstalled. wich came back to bite me in the ass later because i found out you could only get into your account to close it through that launcher. you couldn't do it at all one thier site.
i don't like click to move games either, i've played them but not for very long.
I think FFXIV is going to be my 1st. Useless UI, it force you to adapt instead of giving choice/options. No alt-tab from full screen is a shocker. Will try Nostromo pad tomorrow as last resource.
WoW, is great job youre able to set UI as you wish, but addons like DBM (which is a must to have when joining raiding guild) destroyed game for me.
Warhammer has one of the best UI's, it may seem laggy at times but you can tweak it as you like straight out of the box.

agreed, the only game I felt that way about, ever.
I lasted less than 10 minutes in a DAOC trial because I hated the UI so badly. I bought and played FFXI through the free month and I recall the game simply being too draconian rather than having too bad a time with the UI. FFXIV on the other hand was in large part because I couldn't stand the UI.
Yeah.. Any game that won't let me adjust keybindings = Instant Quit. Any point-to-click game = Instant quit. That's about my two biggest pet peeves.

If the controls are not like WoW (excluding games that have Aiming)
I quit.
Click to Move, is a major turn off. If that is built into the control as the main movement format, but with a optional toggle, I still quit that shit. Just look at Guild Wars and Aion.
Both of these games have that "Combat Auto Follow" mess. And It sucks big time for Melee Classes. Usually games with that kind of control, has QUEUED STRIKES instead of INSTANT STRIKE!!!

Hell yeah. Why bother if the controls suck.
That's the number one reason I rarely stick with an MMO more than a few hours.

I've tried going back to DAOC and EQ1 several times and quit due to frustration over controls/interface.

If the game is worth it you might want to use third party keyconfig
joy2key or autohotkey can do the job well and fast
The only game i can remember quitting cause of controls would be Second Life, the movement feels just wrong
Pi*1337/100 = 42
Not really, as a gamer I have no problem addepting, aslong the game is or seems fun/entertaining to me I have no problems with it.

Playing - PS2, AoW, GW2

Yep, I can't play Click to Move games - annoys the sh!t out of me.

IMO.
To answer the OP, yes. FFXI years ago and FFXIV before the end of CBT.
