I'm pretty sure my local walmart is still selling APB. That was about 8-9 days ago that I looked at the shelves. LoL. This industry is so screwed up it's hilarious.

: I purchased all points bulletin and I was told that I could get a different game since that one closed, is that true?
Karl: when have you purchase the game ?
Karl: and from where ?
: 6/10/10
: From the apb store
: From the apb website
: I have both the order details and the paypal receipt on my screen if you need them
Karl: I really apologize for the inconvenience caused to your with APB game. We are not refunding for the game. The players who have purchased the game after 15 July are only eligible for the compensation.
: So if we ordered before July 15th were out of luck?
Karl: Sorry
: That doesn't seem to make much sense...
: I was under the impression that if we could prove we purchased the game, we could get a coupon or something for another game
Karl: The only thing in my hand and can offer you is EA Store 25% Off
That policy really doesn't seem to make much sense. Going to try email support.
Where is the EA live support? ive searched the support site and cant seem to find it :X
The live support option wasn't working for me, so I had to send an emai. So far, I've received the same response about having to hve bought it after 7/15, but I sent a reply back. I am waiting now to see what they say.
Im glad I joined in the open beta and tried the game. I didnt expect it to ,last so little time but I knew the game wasnt worth the money they asked for, at least it wasn't for me so I didnt buy. No I'm not happy about a game that closes doors, I'm sorry for the players who bought it and I'm sorry for the developers loosing their jobs, but I'm happy for me, I didn't loose that money.

Ok.. this is proof they are LYING!!!
They told me that only the people who purchased the game ON or AFTER --August 15, 2010-- are able to get compensation. Yet you just posted a piece of a transcript where the guy told you --July 15, 2010--. Something is wrong here!!!
They are lying!
Could you PM me the Transcript Reference #? I want to prove that they have said two diferent dates! I purchased mine on July 22nd. and they told me August 15th! EA are a bunch of liars!
I do not cut my life up into days, but my days into lives... Each Day, Each Hour, Each Moment... an Entire Life.
Strange that companies haven't caught on yet, that in this age of easily accessed information you can't easily redact/retract or pull a fast one like you could in times past.
Here is a section of MY session with EA, and what they told me... (this took place today)....
Randall: Please tell me when did you purchased that game
: All three copies were purchased on July 22, 2010.
: And most of our APB accounts still had 30+ hours left of of the initial 50hours of gameplay they gave us, for purchasing the game.
: We were waiting for some patches to the game before we started really getting into it... and then, of course, it got canceled, and we felt really jipped.
Randall: I am sorry we cannot offer you refund Because you have purchased this game Before 15th of august.
: Ummm... what about a replacement?
: And what does the 15th have to do with anything?
: Just curious.
Randall: Sorry there is No Replacement
Randall: If you have purchased Before 15th of August
I do not cut my life up into days, but my days into lives... Each Day, Each Hour, Each Moment... an Entire Life.
Just came back to Future Shop and they have several box on the shelves at 60$ a piece i told the clerk there that the game was dead and he said they did'nt receive any message about it, well you should i told him.
sounds like this "refund" info leaked and they're now trying to cover their tracks
Ya, I can confirm about 6 hours ago they were claiming they would give you a free game as compensation if you purchased it 7/15 and now they changing it to August 15th.... such BS but oh well I mean this really is all Realtime Worlds fault and poor EA has to clean up all the unsatisfied customers.
As I said, I purchased my game at 6/20, which is way before August 15th. They gave me a refund and the guy was quite nice about it. Maybe it's because I didn't come out and openly say "Hey, give me a free game. APB tanked and I read on the forums everyone is getting free games so I want one, too." >.<.

I had a friend tell me yesterday that Target is still selling APB Boxes! He was standing in the software isle staring at the box and had to call me to inform me on the spot because he couldn't believe it himself. I cant believe they havent pulled it from the shelves yet!!
Wal Mart was still selling Tabla Rasa after it closed. I went up to a manager and asked if they realized that they shouldn't really even legally be selling these. YOU CAN'T PLAY THE GAME in any form or fashion! You're selling a broken product essentially. *boggle*
That's what happens with these big chain stores. They have not a clue.
Hopefully players will be more careful in the future when buying an mmo. I generally wait until a mmo has been out at least a year before buying. Most retailers do not give refunds on opened software.
It wasn't really an MMO; it was more along the lines of the Battlefield series of games, and I was surprised when they first said that they wanted to charge monthly for it.
"Oh my, how horrible, someone is criticizing a MMO. Oh yeah, that is what a forum is about, looking at both sides. You rather have to be critical of anything in this genre as of late because the track record of these major studios has just been appalling." -Ozmodan

As of this past spring (2010) Wal-Mart and Amazon.com were still selling Tabula Rasa boxed, over a year after the servers shut down. Full price, mind you, not at a discount. I think most multimarket retailers will try to sell you anything they think you're dumb enough to buy and are not particularly concerned that they might be completely ripping you off.

EA is giving anyone who bought APB a free game which can be ME1 or 2 DragonAge Battlefield Badcompany 2 and so on. If you just go around and sell the free game theres your refund.
who cares. it was £30 and i think i get a suitable amount of enjoyment out of it.
Most of us payed 49.99....
Yeah, check your monetary conversions, 30 English Pounds equals exactly $47.36 U.S. dollars...or just about your 49.99. So you both payed the same. What was your point?
: I recently purchased APB from the apb store and now the game has gone belly up.
: a few people have had success in getting a refund or a replacement game. Is there anything that can be done?
Ryan: When did you purchased this game?
: i preordered it back before it went live
Ryan: Please tell me the date of purchase of the game?
: 6/21/2010
: that is when i purchased the preorder
: I have a screen shot of my purchase from the APB store.
Ryan: As your purchase did occur before 7/15/10, we will be unable to provide further compensation in this regard.
Ryan: I would like to tell you that we have some policies to follow in case of refund.
: the game didn't go live until 6-29-10
: that is within the three months
: there is nothign you can do?
Ryan: We can certainly understand the frustration you have experienced over the recent closure of the APB servers.
Ryan: Please understand that we do value you as a customer and as a show of our appreciation, we would like to provide you with a coupon good towards 25% off a future purchase from the EA Online Store.
Ryan: Please wait while I generate you the 25 % discount code.
Ryan: Thanks for waiting.
Ryan: Here is your 25% discount code xxxxxxxxxx.
Ryan: Please note this is applicable only from purchasing a game from the EA store.
Ryan: To use your code please visit the EA Online Store at http://eastore.ea.com and enter the code in the "Promotional" field at check-out.
: so for future reference I should never preorder a game as it eats the time from the return policy
Ryan: That is a correct assesment.
Ryan has disconnected.
: seriously?
I guess I'll just end up doing a charge back today. I love my credit union.

Right, RTW made the decision to put the game out before it was ready, not EA. Really? Remember Warhammer Online?
