Will this run it?

Thinking about getting the game.

Want to know if anyone is running with something similar to my PC.

I don't care about running on max, low settings are fine. I just wanna be able to run it.

And I don't trust their benchmark, since it runs flawless with no slowdown while telling me it's barely running.:P

And I'm pretty much strapped right now, so upgrading is NOT an option at this time ( unless someone wants to send me their old graphic card lol ).

Pretty much why I was hoping to get a buddy key to see how well it would run.

ram and the graphic card will hurt ram mostly.

for the love of god get more ram its so cheap and going to 4gigs will do wonders for mmorpgs.also, get a new GPU.the gtx 260 or ati's 4870 are only like 170 bucks at most now.

Don't bother getting a pc just for FFXIV it will only disapoint ya. :)

Just as the above poster said, 4G of DD3 at LEAST is what you want to play todays games/mmos. That 9500 is old school, gotta kick it up with the GPUS that pfloy mentioned. Gotta admit those ATI 4870s are still packing the beast but I would recommened a solid single card, as SE horribly optimized their game for dual GPUs(crossfire at least). So id recommend at nice Nvidia card because SE doesnt support ATI since nvidia pays them to make their engine around Nvidia like FFXI. As far as your CPU, i woudlnt touch FFXIV without at least a quad core. Id recommend the AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition (3.4ghz x4) which is catch the for the price. Some will argue that I7 is better and it may be but for whatever reason FFXIV draws a lot more from the GPU than CPU so unless you have cash to throw out there one doesnt NEED antything more than an AMD CPU.

Well, considering this tired old PC runs AoC on medium/high settings in DX9, I figured it should be able to pull at least low settings in FFXIV. Like I said, I can't afford to upgrade. So, I guess that pretty much answers the question for me.

    No FFXIV.

Edit: And for the record, I haven't had problems with running singleplayer games on highest settings with this PC, including the newest ones. Even Crysis runs on high even though everyone and their brother swears it can't possibly do that. lol

And my motherboard only supports DDR2 ram, so in order to do all these "upgrades" to play one game I 'd have to almost rebuild my whole comp. Just ain't woth it.

Give them until march to fix all the bugs and lag and get yourself a PS3 and pick up the PS3 copy with the first expansion.

    I have a PS3. I don't like playing mmos on consoles.

Actually, my PS3 and 360 pretty much gather dust until an exclusive I want for one or the other comes out. I just prefer the PC more.

And malv, if your not going to contribute to the post dont post at all. Please move your troll elswhere seeing as this person already knows they want to play the game and asked nothing about anyone's personal opinion.

Oh boy another of those FF fainboys? Get over it not everyone likes your shitty game.

The video card is about half of the minimum system requirements.  It looks like the huge rebates on the GeForce GT 240s that had been around for a while are gone, so the cheapest update that would get you over the minimum requirements might be this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102871

$70 after rebate, including shipping.  But if it's out of your budget, then it's out of your budget, I guess.

2 GB of memory should be enough, but it's a question of what you have to do to make it enough.  For starters, you'll probably not want any other background programs running.  You may need to track down and eliminate bloatware that came on your system.  You may even need to shut down non-essential Windows services.

Well, there's no bloatware since I built it myself a couple years ago.

But yeah, I guess I'll just have to wait. I spend the money on the card, then there's no money for the game. And unfortunately, money is having a difficult time finding its way to me right now.image

It will run the game, but not well. You meet minimum requirements, so with a monitor that does not run at too high a resolution you could run on medium settings with AA, ambient occlusion, shadows and depth of field turned off.

The game runs surprisingly well on lower memory, it is quite graphics and core heavy. The best thing you could do would be to upgrade your GPU, but saying that all 64 bit systems are RAM hoggers, and even though FFXIV does not use that much you really need 3GB with system RAM and GPU RAM. I believe a 1GB grahics card would give better performance than a RAM upgrade if you do go that route sometime soon.

Well, the highest resolution I run is 1440 x 900.

And my GPU has 1gb of ram, but it's only GDDR 2.

I'd have no problem with running with all the bells and whistles disabled.

Then yes it should run, dropping the resolution will certainly help your FPS. You will get some stuttering in busy areas, but it should run fine in open areas. Your GFX card is slightly below minimum (512mb 9600), but reading benchmarks others have run the game and the 1GB will help.

Theres nothing i  can do for you then, FFXI played just fine on the PS2 and i expect it do the the same with FFXIV on PS3. The game just isnt for you then, somtimes sacrifices have to be made. Get yourself a job and order a computer on credit with a company like ibuypower. (Build a friends for 1600 dollars and he pays 32 bucks a month with billmelater.

Didnt see your after post, if you run a res that low I suppose the cards the other "constructive" posters are suggesting all sound great. You do need to at least make some form of upgrade a least. If you dont mind lowering some settings then the rest should do decent i suppose.

Lol, yelling fanbois just because someone points you out for attempting to derailing a thread. Just learn how to read and for you maybe even write and then post. Make it constuctive and no one will call you out for it, just please grow up.

Well, for one, I have a job. It doesn't, however, come with a license to print money.

For two, I don't buy computers. When I decide to upgrade, I do it myself. And it'll be well below $1600 for more than likely the same or better parts your friend has. And if I did buy a pre-made computer, I sure as heck wouldn't buy it on credit. Buying on credit turns an already overpriced product into a ridiculously priced product.

But anyway, yeah, I guess I'll just pass for now. If someone tosses me a buddy key, or SE decides to do a trial, then I'll see how it does. Other than that, guess it's a no-go for now.

Yes I would say increase your ram to 4GB but more importantly to replace your graphics card.
