Really! They are! They just take pictures of these and then put em in a 3d generator thing. Aand there you have it, wow world!
Seriously, log in after moe than a year of playing many different MMOs, my god this game is ugly! Don't tell me it's the art-style, I actually love the art-style, it's the only good point of it, this and the animations.
You can't see farther than a mole.
Landscape are just vast flat parts or badly placed badly shaped mountains.
Thx god at least they upgraded the water, cause this really, was WTF?
Animations are good but there are way not enough!
And every trees is made of cardboard!
Man, forget immersion, game is the uglyest there is!

WOW chose an art style that ages well. The game is 6 years old and looks as good as any new cartoons you see on the cartoon network today. Check out how well the "realistic" game graphics age. If you have to take a screen and disect it to come up with a troll post, I would say the trolls need some new material.
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

Their development team and people on the offical forums were egotistical d-bags... but I digress.

In defense of the WoW graphics from a GW2 fanboi (self-admitted), they chose graphics that kept the flavor of the Warcraft games. It was intentional, and to be honest, it works well for that game.

they were riding over confidence because finance never told them how much money they had left in the bank, and their one and only previous game was a success. Oh and they were trying to copy how other companies did things instead of grew into it naturally. It amuses me how the prototype engine took just one guy, but everything else took 300 people.
Perpas another company will buy it and polish it up. I'd probably play it once some things were added like more than 2 combat zones.
add: WoW graphic wise, I don;t mind the general style, but man, I wish they'd do something about all the ugly armor with shoulder pads bigger than the character's heads.

Funny. Logging into WoW after logging into EQ2 and it's mindboggling how GOOD WoW looks in comparison.
it's one of the main reasons i can't play WoW for any lenght of time anymore. it's a fun game....but i just can't stand looking at those cartoony graphics after having played games like AoC, Aion, even War.
i'v been saying for months now that if Blizz came out with an improved graphics edition, for those of us that can run it, i would buy the whole game again. they wouldn't have to change the game for everyone, just put out a dx10 version for those that want it. people could still run it at minimum settings. never gonna happen thoug.
My Belf Priestess was cute as a button and that's all that really mattered. Still, it's not enough to ever drag me back to WoW. I just wish I still had a screenie of her stored somewhere. It's the only thing from the game I miss.

yeah, wish the graphics were better, i just couldn't get into the game with the graphics the way they were. i maxed everything, and still was disapointing. decent game, but just couldn't do it with the cartoon look.
