what REALLY is the best solo mmorpg?

Hey there! i just saw a thread on here about someone looking for a good solo mmorpg.. and im really wondering.. what is the best solo mmorpg?.. does anyone know that?.. because im interested aswell.. give me some examples please! thanks!

I guess it would have to be World of Warcraft. You can go from 1 to 80 without ever grouping.

Solo? Its a tie between Guild Wars and LotRO... WoW follows those two.

oh really?.. hmm well ive played guild wars.. im currently playing lotro.. and i dont like wow.. is there an " unheard " mmorpg or a pretty new one.. that has good soloing?
Well what do you consider solo? When i think of solo i think of playing without having to form an organised group.
WAR has a ton of soloing because you can randomly join warbands that you dont know and leave at any time. Same thing with their Scenario system.
Lotro lets you quest solo almost the entire way and they have a skirmish system that has the player running 1 player instances for very nice gear. Also its monsterplay mechanic has a solo player joining others in Pugs.
Guild wars can be played solo 99% of the way and whatever other content that comes along can be taken advantage of using henchies. They also have random arena for the solist that doesnt like making pre-set teams.
WoW is also solo friendly as a quester and you can solo que for BGs and Instances using the dungeon finder.
I think those are my four.

well see i see solo as...well.. you kind of just said it really.. and i think lotro is a great game..wow.. this was really a stupid thread i made here...anyway.. i just.. well thanks HAHA!
No it wasnt. Maybe someone else is looking for a solo friendly game and if their new to the genre we just gave them four options.

The solo beggers have ruined MMOs.
Really I see this as going around picking up hookers to try and get STDs.
Cryptic seems to target the 'solo mmo market' if thats in any way an acceptable term, so I would say either star trek online or champions online are the two most solo friendly mmos out as far as I know. LotRO is easy as well and its also f2p for the most part if thats a contributing factor.
sure soloing does seem very....alone and you might think it has ruined mmos but.. how the hell are you supposed to cooperate with an 8 year old kid from thailand hm?.. see this is what i mean by soloing... you can not play with anyone.. thats the same.. i really want to see the joy and grouping in mmos.. but its not the soloers who have ruined the mmos.. its everyone i guess..

Modern MMORPGs really aren't the same games as they used to be.
What was once a social, virtual world, cooperative experience
is now, a single player game with a chat box and a monthly fee, and the poor communities in modern MMOs reflect this.
Best for soloing? Probably WoW or LotRO.
GW is not an MMORPG. Hell, WoW hardly is now.
i agree...its really a shame..too bad im not old enough that as a kid, i could have played these old-school mmorpgs =D
They were worse. None of those were solo friendly and everything was like pulling teeth.
I was lucky enough to get introduced to them young. I missed the great Ultima Online, but I still caught Dark Age of Camelot and EverQuest. Sadly, this also means I got to watch the entire MMO market deteriorate. Every time I think we've hit rock bottom something worse comes along.
Anyone ever tell you that you use too much hyperbole?
You could solo in almost all oldschool MMOs. It just wasn't as fast as grouping, which is how it should be. Grouping is harder, and you can defeat more difficult encounters that way, so why should the reward be LESS than soloing?
And no, only one or two old MMOs were "like pulling teeth", but back then, the point wasn't to grind to the level cap, there were other fun things to do instead.
But honestly, if you think old MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER games were bad because they didn't reward you for PLAYING BY YOURSELF, somethings' wrong.
I am surprised that no has mentioned DDO. The henchmen system allows for soloing anytime you want.

Well in DDO you NEED a group to do certain dungeons, yes?

The devs themselves said it's not an MMO. And you can't have an 80% instanced game world and hope to call it an MMO
Wouldn't know, haven't played in a while, but that's the impression I was under.
