I would like a Naruto shippuden MMO. With all the different Ninjustsu, genjustsu and tai justu, the kind of character you would be able to do will be amazing.
Naruto would be awesome.
So would One Piece! yet both would be kind of difficult to be done. Super rare Devil fruits to change class or something?
Wont see either of these until well after they finish the storylines if at all. 10-20 years mayyyyybe but highly unlikely.
But this is a dreamer thread so dream on.... *drool*
Mechwarrior....i know there's perpetuum (sp?), but it doesnt have the lore to match it.
It also didnt give me the feeling that I was in a mech either but a robot, I felt like I was playing with matchbox cars.
I agree a Mechwarrior or Mech Assault one that you was in 1st person when in your mech that made you feel like you was in a big machine of destruction and that you had to actually aim your shots in.
THAT would be amazing. The old rpg that was made for that was great fun.
Hmm....I'd like to see an MMO for:
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines (no...WoD is not the same thing, but it's what we'll get....at least it's the basic premise)
Something based on the works of either Bentley Little or Stephen King (TSW will at least have a FLAVOR of this and Lovecraft)
something inspired by C.S.I. (where classes are things like detective, crime scene analyst, serial killer, bank robber, attorney, you know....a law versus the criminal minds type game...would be complicated to do, but fun, imo, if someone could figure out how to do it WELL)
Red Dead Redemption MMO style (something western and gritty)
Any MMO based on an Iain M. Banks book, really. he fleshes out his worlds quite well.
Transformers(is this in the works?) but, it would be full-loot open world PVP,(but robust PVE too) autobots vs. decepticons. fully customizable. lots of moving bits, and lots of transforming I'm not totally up on all the lore, but I think it should happen during the great war on cybertron. based on who's winning the war, control of the planet and its resources shifts from side to side, with appropriate goodies/bonuses.
Someone mentioned a highlander MMO. that would be great, but, some form of perma-death is essential, otherwise it wouldn't make sense based on the lore. maybe use the FOM(face of mankind) formula, you can die 5 times then it's permanent. but, it can't be level-based then, it would have to be some version of what earthrise is doing, maybe. pvp fights between immortals should be EPIC, and long; no immortal goes down easy. I envision being able to start in any country on earth, choosing your race/culture, then, your first series of missions, you're discovering what you are; maybe a bit of the "old man" from SWG? problem is, it requires a lot of thought and originality from the devs, and a fair amount of money to get right. and, frankly, the highlander world isn't a moneymaker right now, and that's why games are made, from a publisher's perspective. so, it ain't happening.
I'd like to see a Resident Evil mmo the most or a Bethesda made mmo either Elder Scrolls or Fallout (which it seems is in the works) would be pretty great.

Actually it wouldn't need the FoM formula it could use its own formula-die in any manner except losing your head you come back, lose your head you dont come back so by all means possible keep your head on your shoulders.
Pokemon, even though I long lost interest in both the show and the games I think a living breathing world filled with pokemon and trainers would be great. It would be mainly a PvP game but I don't really know how the mechanics would work. Would you just give orders to the pokemon or would you actually actively control the pokemon? Of course there would be no classes as such however pokemon each have their own element(s) and speciality.
Further more, I too endorse a Zelda MMO, it would have to be a true action/adventure/rpg hybrid though if it would want to be true to the singleplayer games while still giving that sense of progression which more classic mmorpgs have. This means active controls, you have to aim and move around during combat and press buttons to attack etc instead of letting your character do these things for you. This also means solving puzzels zelda/tomb raider style. I actually fleshed out an idea for this based on the Ocarina of Time but set just before it's events with 7 races and 9 classes.
I think I would thoroughly enjoy a Heroes of Might and Magic or Age of Wonders -like mmo (in other words a fantasy realtime or turn based strategy game with heavy rpg elements).
Even more out there ideas I had at certain points were a Final Fantasy Tactics mmo and a Golden Sun mmo.
Harry Potter as others have mentioned and a Avatar: The Last Airbender I could enjoy but only if they are done in a mature way.
Actually yeah I forgot about that. Pokémon! I've always thought that was a good idea, but Nintendo will never do it because they only make console games. Maybe FFXIV will help to enlarge the market for console MMOs and then perhaps we'll see the day.
2. Temeraire series (really enjoy these books, except for the latest one. But Napoleonic Wars + Dragons = win, imo). Faction based game. Play as the British, the French, or the Chinese. Not sure how the balance would work, especially since everyone would want to fly a dragon, but would be nice to have the options to do Navy, Army or Air Force.
3. Avatar: The Last Airbender
4. Pokemon.
5. Mistborn
Top MMOs: Asheron's Call, Shadowbane, EVE Online, Planetside Played: Pretty much everything at one point or another

DUNE
and of course it would have to be a sandbox... open PvP.. extremely deep econonomy...
I could go on and on but it will never happen..
Remember Old School Ultima Online
A lot of good suggestions.
I'd like to see William Gibson's cyber-dystopian-punk world made into an advance MMO.
An MMO that followed everything that Imperator Online was offering, except have it based around PVP. Imperator had such an awesome back story.

Firefly and Song of Ice and Fire would be the two that I would love to see...but probably never will.
Currently Playing: FFXIV:ARR
Looking Forward to: Wildstar
As boring as MMOs are today I'd rather wait for this genre to evolve(or devolve), before I saw one of my favorite IPs turned into an easy-mode MMO.
Darwinia.
Always read the small print.
aquanox and spelljammer from d&d..
Eclipse Phase and Hârn.
Just 2 for me
1. Dragons Age
2. Half-Life

World of Warcraft is the original creation of God. Real Life is in fact a WoW clone.

Would love to see an Mmo based around the Necroscope books by Brian Lumley , awesome sauce
There are some great ideas in this thread I'd never thought of, but would preorder immediately. Like
- Dune
- Firefly
- Discworld
My personal too-good-to-be-true MMO would be an ancient-roman one, based on the books of Lindsey Davis or David Wishart or Steven Saylor
Star Trek. STO doesn't count. I want diplomacy, politics, scientific phenomena and moral dilemmas in my Star Trek MMO!
Always read the small print.
I cannot remember the names of the Wing Commander series. I liked III and IV, partly because of game play, and partly because of the cut scene actors.
How was this game? It was one space game I never played. The version at this site is coded to work with modern Microsoft desktop operating systems.

One game that will never make it is Dark Age of Camelot 2.
EDIT: I keep forgetting that links done in BBML are never hot, so, I replaced it. It is now hot.
