That would be the ultimate mmorpg for me: no targeting system, thievery, sneaking, use of tactical terrain features, great skills & attributes system, 1st and 3rd person view, mounts... sandbox.
My apologies for not reading the entire thread to see if any of these had been posted... I got to like page 4 I think and of course, read the last page. This is actually my first post here at MMORPG.com! I was recomended by a guy on the notebook forums in the Alienware section... my old First gen Alienware m15x was destroyed a couple months back, and I just ordered a new m17x. Anyways, I miss playing online! I love this site too so far... soooo much info... woah!
Ok, so the titles I'd like to see... and keep an open mind. I know they'd work.
For starters, can we get Stargate Worlds finished - or can someone start a new Stargate MMO? The universe is so expansive, and is based on the longest running Sci-fi series ever... 11 seasons, three (or more) direct to DVD movies with succesful two spin-off series, one just wrapping up it's 6th or 7th season and the other one about to start season two.
Secondly, anyone remember the Thundercats? Oh c'mon... if you're saying "no", you're saying it because either "A" - you're too young to remember... or "B" your too old probably to care or have noticed the expanded universe in the comic books. The series ended with the Thundercats sending out a beacon to all the other thundercats in the universe who fled Thundera. Later, a comic series shows Lion-O and the thundercats much older and living/thriving in a vast civilization. Of course, you'd have to find a way to interact with the original Thundercats, but that wouldn't be too hard... and obviously - only Lion-O carries the Sword of Omens. But think of the potential for MMO... SOoooo many races they could pick and use... both plentiful to be good or bad all with deep origins and their own stories. Which would be great in a way similar to the original Star Wars Galaxies.... rebel or Imperial w/ several species to choose from.... Thundarian or Plundarian... and way more species to choose from. Not to mention the race of Dog-like creatures initialy much more powerful than the Thundercats. Google it now... Thundercats Comics - Dogs Of war and you'll see the vast empire and civilizations I mentioned before. Plenty of room for great storyline PVE and obviously lots of potential for PVP if desired.
Ok next... much shorter response. Fallout in the style ofFallout 3 (haven't played vegas or any of the others yet). Not much needed to defend my reasoning on this one... it's a cool post-apocalyptic world, again with plenty of room for PVP and PVE.
Lastly, a mech styled MMO... personally, I've always enjoyed Playstation's line of "Armored Core" titles... endless room there as well for expansion, customization, guilds, PVE, PVP, battle arenas, storyline etc... the last Armored Core had some cool online action, but obviously not like an MMO. I think this one would maybe better suit the FPS shooter online type games... but still, you could built it in an MMO style.
That's my two cents! Discuss! Thanks!
Mavericke Games Played: Star Wars Galaxies, Lord of The Rings, Stargate Worlds, Aion. Beta in all except SWG.
A true to the source Shadowrun would be excellent. Maybe in 10 years we'll have the computer power to simulate a living, breathing cityscape.
Strange that the first thing that popped into my head was the third post in the thread... Never say never though. I would have said the same thing about a new Star Wars MMOG, a World of Darkness MMOG and a bunch of other IPs that have actually happened or are in the process of happening.
Still, a true to the Pen & Paper RPG and canon Shadowrun MMOG would be totally awesome. That's my answer and I'm sticking to it...

I'd love to see tha turned into a MMO. It has a great back story and being able to build and customize your own mechs in a MMO would be incredible.
I've always imagined a MMO where you could train a mech pilot seperately as in the pilot would have different skills and abilities that would be useful in many different situations while, the pilot could also train up his mech skills would would have different effects and uses that would apply to other situations.
Man, I'd love to see a complex mech MMO like that.
I would like to see an MMO based upon the Earthclan books - Startide Rising and The Uplift War! The books were amazing - maybe an MMO could get it right.
DEUS EX -but done the way GW1 is so you could keep stories intact, still meet people in hubs and do missions with a group and have them able to be done several ways like DE is(all stealth, all lethal means or a mix etc) and have players actions affect the world.
GTA and dont say there is APB because we all know that is a shooter with a highly interactive lobby.GTA with pve npc mobs just like in the single player games, you choose the cops side you can go on busts with the npc cops for take downs- of players and mobs alike. You are a criminal-cops(npc and player alike) come after you like in regular game, ability to start clans/gangs were you can have territory with your own npc footsoldiers that would protect it with you-you go into a rivals/enemies territory you risk getting attacked by them and their npc footsoldiers etc.
Then it could be expanded to all of the Empire, then to Akavir. It would be awesome. But to take such a deep game and open it to an MMORPG, it would be hard to do well.
alot great answers but 1 that could been but IP is not as popular as it once was and to many fantasy mmo's anyway is xena and hercules universe into mmorpg. make hero and be next rising star.
It already has the rpg elements.. Create a world with gangs ruling various areas of neigborhoods and towns.. Shops to eat and drink.. It even had skill books that you could buy.. Turn this into an MMO and it would be wild..

Wow, I'm surprised someone said armored core.

-Black and White
-Kings Quest
-The Legend of Dragoon
-Spyro (or some platformer game).
-I want a Platformer MMO
wheel of time online
battletech universe
gundam online
starfleet command online
a good warhammer mmo
HA. The first time I read this I thought you put "Wheel of Fortune Online" rofl.
I'd love to see a Hitchhiker's Guide mmo, full of intelligent satire.
Harry Potter and Pokemon, if they were done right, which no MMO ever is. :P They sound silly, but think about it, could be very good mmo IPs.
A game based on Weis and Hickman's Dragonlance lore. The name "Raistlin" would have to be banned though.
Star Ocean would be interesting so long as they kept the battles action based instead of auto targeting.
Mass Effect
gamertag - Swaffle House
The legend of zelda.
Skies of Arcadia...
Rent a Hero
or a true open world D&D game set in the Forgotten Realms
DEUS EX -but done the way GW1 is so you could keep stories intact, still meet people in hubs and do missions with a group and have them able to be done several ways like DE is(all stealth, all lethal means or a mix etc) and have players actions affect the world.

River City Ransom or Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari
Have no idea what I am talking about? Go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_City_Ransom
It already has the rpg elements.. Create a world with gangs ruling various areas of neigborhoods and towns.. Shops to eat and drink.. It even had skill books that you could buy.. Turn this into an MMO and it would be wild..
Raymond E Feist's world.
The Walking Dead
Deadlands PnP

Too many to list, but I'll try:
-Warhammer (not focused on PvP, but PvE, the world is SO rich of intrigue, those who played the pen and paper knows what I'm talking about)
-Anything based on Cthulhu mythos. It may be tricky, but will be a success if well done. Long live Lovecraft
-Dragonlance (First trilogy era), Planescape (awesome setting and easy to get lots of interesting places), Forgotten Realms (Underdark anyone?)
-Moorcock's worlds (Stormbringer/Elric and Hawkmoon)
Age of Wonders: Shadow magic
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
